J.I stayed in the king room with the hot tub. Worth every penny. The manager, PJ I think? Welcomed us and left a personalized note in the room. Clean, comfy bed, great hot tub and a fan in the room (great on a hot Wellington summer night!) will definitely stay again.
H.Lovely little spot in the heart of Wellington. We had the rooftop spa room. Friendly service that is contactless. I would go again.

I think all the rooms have shared bathrooms (which are clean and stylish).
Sadly there is pile driving and building nearby which supposedly ends in July 2021. Fortunately this wasn’t the case when I was there, but forewarned is forearmed.

M.My review is 2years late but I will never forget how wonderful this place was. We had been on a long drive down to Wellington from Auckland to attend a funeral and had arrive at 4am in the morning the funeral was at 10am. There was no other place open that would take our booking that early even when we were willing to pay extra they would not allow us to enter our room early until I tried U Boutique Hotel. They were so welcoming and UNDERSTANDING over the phone and quickly set us up for that morning. Our room was nice and warm and the faciality was nice and clean the staff was so helpful, kind and so respectful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a warm and friendly place to stay and we would definitely be booking with you guys again.
M.Excellent hotel in prime location. Customer service from PJ the manager was second to none. Spa room was fabulous! Continental breakfast was so handy. Rooms were clean and tidy with amenities to make ourselves a hot drink. Would 100% recommend. Will be the only place I will choose to stay when I'm Wellington. S.Booked my stay last minute due to plans falling through and was very pleasantly surprised. What a lovely little hotel! Room was clean and comfy beds. Shared bathroom quite modern and clean with great shower. On a quiet side street but still really close location to Courtney Place. Would definitely stay again!

A.A wonderful place to stay. Perfect for us. We arrived late, check in was automated and easy. Room was spotless, bed super comfy, bathrooms clean and great showers. Staff are super helpful and polite. I’ll be staying here again.
K.Fantastic location within easy flat walking distance of Courtney place (Wellingtons event and dining district). Service was fantastic and friendly. Family room was nice - and rare to find somewhere supporting a family of 5! However found the walls between rooms rather thin with young kids, and amenities fairly plain
H.Lovely and clean. However private bathroom was not in your room but rather across the hall that you needed a key to unlock. Also our room wouldn't lock and could not be fixed for 2 days. Never saw the mentioned baking that was supposed to be available all day with coffee in the lounge. Continental breakfast was lovely though.
E.U Boutique Hotel is a great hotel in Wellington! Its close to the city center (5 min walk to Cuba Street). Furthermore its extremely clean and the staff is super friendly. The room and bathroom was good too! Would book it again any time :-).
V.A wonderfully charming, small boutique hotel and excellent accommodation. Ideally situated in one of Wellington's small, narrow streets, close to restaurants and transport. Easy to walk all around town from this location. The staff and owners of Gourmet Stay were really friendly, helpful and obliging. One of the reasons for booking this small hotel was the offer of off-street parking and I was grateful to be able to leave my car there for a period after checking out. The room had wonderfully comfortable beds. This 1920s era building has been refurbished by architect/owner Mark, with the steel retrofit support beams giving the space a slightly industrial look. The space was very comfortable with small kitchen, bathroom and attractive furnishings. The continental breakfast was excellent. I will definitely go back to Gourmet Stay next time I need accommodation in Wellington.
T.I was apprehensive about the shared bathroom, but it turned out to be really good; clean, no queue to use it, even body wash / shampoo / conditioner are provided. The bathroom has both a shower and a bathtub.
The breakfast was good too, and there are restaurants nearby as well. The room has a heater and was already warm when I got there, has a TV with free view and a USB input if you want to bring your own movies.
It's also quiet, there's no disturbing traffic noise at night despite being in the city, and the staff were so helpful that they printed a document for me so I didn't need to go find a print shop.
Highly recommended.
t.We stayed at this hotel in early March of this year for 2 nights. It was clean, well maintained and had excellent staff. It is not a typical hotel in a good way. Our room was small, spare and had access to the outside through a patio area. Perfectly acceptable. The breakfast in their on site cafe was simple but quite adequate The neighborhood was safe and interesting. You felt like you got a glimpse into what life in Wellington might be like for a local. It was easy walking distance to most everything. Most importantly, the owner and the manager, Willem, were both kind and personable.They were a pleasure to converse with. I encountered a minor (non-medical) emergency and they went above and beyond expectations to help resolve it. This is an establishment that we were proud to spend our travel dollars at. D.Great Central City location, building has lots of character and a nice illustrative approach to branding extends to a colourful mural on the street front. Rooms include self-contained and shared-bathroom options. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Decor is pleasant. There doesn't seem to be much sound-dampening as a fair bit of noise comes up from the street. There is a cosy cafe on the ground floor with inclusive breakfast offered, although options are somewhat limited.
L.At the beginning of my four months period in Wellington I first stayed at the Gourmet Stay before I moved into a flat for a short time. Fortunately my time in Wellington was way longer than first planned so I went straight back to Gourmet Stay. This hotel is so cozy and classy that in the end I spent two out of my four Wellington-months here. The rooms are bright, modern and very clean. Everyone is so friendly and enjoyable that I felt like being at home. The common room makes the whole place very social as I had more than one interesting chat with other guests about the latest Football results.
Thank you for the great time here and I hope to come back really soon!
B.great place to stay if you visit Wellington. everything is in walking distant. Is the hotel the four Seasons? No, but it is nice, clean, comfortable, the staff is helpful and friendly and most important: They truely deliver on what they promise! We will be back.
K.The manager was lovely, very accomodating to our needs (such as offering breakfast earlier and the availability of an off-street car park). The room itself was beautifully decorated and spacious, and the shared bathroom was kept in a clean and tidy state. Walking distance to some great restaurants and shops also, highly reccomend to those looking for a place to stay in Wellington!
K.Great little b&b, very centrally located not too far from all the Cuba st action and cafes and 10 minutes to Te Papa. We had the double studio +1 single which was on the ground floor and was just huge and very comfortable. The host was charming and offered to do our laundry and to dry it with no charge while we were touring the city so we won't waste valuable time just waiting for the machine to finish. Only downside was that we were awakened quite early every day by the noise of the garbage truck that had stopped next to our room, but maybe we are just light sleepers....
A.Absolutely gorgeous room and deck, spa was amazing and the starry night couldn't have been more perfect!
c.The young chap who worked as the manager was very kind and helpful. No lift to go up so be careful if you have luggages. No parking either. You have to use the streets paid parking which might not easily available. No 24 hours reception so make arrangements before you arrive. A simple breakfast available. Good value for money if you are individual traveller or a couple. Very close main shopping and happening streets.
N.Amazing little hotel in the heart of Wellington. Staff is extremely nice and welcoming, we even got an upgrade. Would definetly recommend (especially after staying in a couple other hotels here in Wellington) and I will definetly come back the next time I'm in Wellington!

S.A lovely little place tucked away from the main drag. The room had a deck with a spa which I took full advantage of and the breakfast was lovely as well. The staff member was fantastically friendly; I would absolutely recommend this place!
J.This little B&B tucked away in Frederick Street is easily my favourite of all the places I've stayed in the North Island. As a solo traveller on a budget I've been used to hostels and single rooms in hotels, but none have been so clean, comfortable, friendly, modern and inviting as the Gourmet Stay. It's also been rare to find the double whammy of both free (unlimited) WiFi and included breakfast, but this place has it all. And the breakfast alone is worth the stay - homemade muesli, yogurt, peaches, fresh croissants and home-baked scones and cakes.
The owners make you feel at home from the moment you walk in the door, and many of the guests staying there have opted to stay longer than they intended, giving the whole place a familial feel. Tea, coffee and scones are available to guests in the evening along with the use of the café space at the front of the building. Although there are two shared hostel-style rooms, this is definitely more of a b&b - don't expect any parties or late night noise.
In summary: highly recommended! I know I'll be staying here again when I'm back in Wellington. :-)

J.Gourmet Stay certainly lives up to its name. It's the first place we've stayed in NZ that includes breakfast. Lucy makes delicious, fresh, baked goods in the morning. The rooms are extremely clean and well appointed. The hotel is so conveniently located within walking distance of practically all city attractions. There was so much to do and Mark and Lucy were such great hosts that we extended our stay from 3 to 5 nights. Can't say enough good things. Sue and John. Ontario, Canada
M.Customer service was outstanding for a returning stay - management provided an upgrade - made the difference for a much-needed sleep. Clean rooms and clean shared facilities. Good basic breakfast. Look forward to returning again!

k.This is a lovely little place, centrally located, tastefully decorated and a very warm welcome was provided. The rooms can be a bit on the small side and there are stairs to navigate but if you keep that in mind this is a lovely place to base yourself in Wellington
A.I liked the fairly simple setup that I stayed in. It was good value. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly and accommodating. The off street parking is a bit of a squeeze for a large ute thought, but doable.

K.Rooms are very small. It used to have bunk bed, separate toilet and on suite options, all with breakfast included and reasonably priced. Ever since the change of owners breakfast became extra and prices went up. Not a good value for money.
