A.We had excellent communication from the hotel, were offered an upgrade for a small amount extra as well as breakfast.
We booked because of location but also because of hotel policies.
Reception staff pleasant and helpful and the young staff doing the breakfasts smiling and friendly.
Room clean,quiet and comfortable. Pleased to have opening windows and although no aircon an efficient fan.
L.Well priced, comfortable, central but not too central that its noisy with pubs etc. We won't go anywhere else when visiting our children. Option for car parking as well ($25 a day) which meant alot less drama with Wellington parking/cost.

Breakfast disappointing stayed for two nights so first morning went to restaurant and all cooked food was dry and inedible, so next day we decided on room service - but sorry the bacon was over cooked, tomatoes tasteless and eggs solid. But meal in restaurant Saturday night delicious. Beds very very firm, so bad sleeps for us. Need to upgrade shower facilities and coffee!!
C.This is my hotel of choice when visiting Wellington. The service is impeccable and the rooms warm, clean and comfortable. Bart was the duty manager on for my most recent trip and he went above and beyond, making our stay that bit more perfect. Bart is a great example of the type of managers we need in hospitality, in particular the Hotel and accommodation industry.

f.Wasn't impressed with no drive in foyer to check in.
Had to park around the corner a block away and walk back to check in. for a multi room Hotel they only had 5 or 6 internal parking spots which was a nightmare to access.
The guy behind the front desk was great to deal with, the restaurant / bar guy looked like he wanted to go home, the dining experience starts with your server. Needless to say my experience wasn't great
C.Good location, reasonable price. A little dated now but clean and tidy.
Breakfast was ok but staff need to keep it stocked better. After we paid there was nothing to eat, the hot plates were slowly restocked one at a time, tomatoes arrived after we had finished breakfast. Good coffee was an additional charge, this should be included.

Bathroom is small and clean - most welcoming was a separate face cloth to remove my residual makeup.

F.Great location at the bottom of Cuba Mall and with easy access to the main shopping areas. The staff are very accomodating to your needs. The rooms are nice but ask for one away from the street as no double insulation. Overall a very good place to stay when you visit Wellington
F.POSITIVES: Incredible location - close to a main bus stop on Manners St which got us very easily to many places including Weta Workshop and walking distance to many restaurants/bars. Room clean (except bathroom floor corners which were a bit filthy) and relatively comfortable (pillows weren't great). Nice selection of shampoo/ conditioner/ body wash. Hot strong shower. Friendly staff.
NEGATIVES: Hotel a little bit tired, especially in the bar/restaurant area which was a bit old fashioned and dreary and the elevator which stunk of smoke (not the hotel's fault but still unpleasant). Also it might seem like a small thing but having 1-ply toilet paper makes a hotel feel 'cheap'. Both mornings we were there we got woken up early by very loud rubbish trucks or something making huge clanging noises. Recommend using earplugs.
K.I wasn't able to stay with them due to personal reasons, but I just wanted to commend the staff member/s who were assisting us with our booking and queries. Lovely and prompt communication from them and they have a warm and welcoming tone towards us and our queries. Hopefully we get to stay with you next time. Keep up the wonderful Customer Service!
K.Breakfast selection great. Bathroom and breakfast packaging of products and food in glass and paper, plastic use minimal. Very good stay, freindly staff. No aircon available in the room we stayed, but would happily recommend for everything else.
V.Generally good. Restaurant food was excellent. Only disappointment was that our room wasn't turned over (we stayed 2 nights) and when we asked for fresh towels we were given hand towels and a floor towel. I'm sure it was an honest mistake but not fun drying yourself with a floor towel.
They also lost our bags temporarily when we left them there for a couple of hours after checking out. Turned out they had been left in a different area so they were found but struck me as a little unprofessional. Second time staying there and would still definitly stay again
J.Having onsite parking at this centrally located hotel is great. It's a short walk to Te Papa, the Michael Fowler Centre and shopping streets. Check-in was easy with friendly efficient staff taking time to explain processes. There is a restaurant on the ground floor, room service is available too. Queen size and single beds are comfy with a choice of pillow styles. Only one chair in a room that slept 3. The room was quite warm as the sun beamed through the windows in the afternoon. Windows open and there is a desk fan. The shower needs upgrading to a hand held sliding fitting. Plenty of toiletries in the bathroom and the coffee/tea supplies were well stocked too. Milk in pods in the room fridge and fresh milk available from Reception. Hanging space in a cupboard and hooks above the suitcase rack too. COVID Tracer app QR code to scan and hand sanitiser beside the lifts on each floor.
K.I like to look at the bargain area this week I got courgettes marked down to $0.50 each. Once I got tamarillo trees for $5 each
A.Rooms were clean and a great size. Staff were friendly. Unfortunately glasses are 'rinsed' in bathroom sink and returned to wardrobe. Very scarry in this covid time
A.Really affordable and they give good customer service. The room was cozy but clean and had all we needed. Will be back next time we choose to stay in the city.
P.The staff were all really great. Friendly, helpful, cheerful, full of smiles, efficient at their jobs. The location is pretty good too.
Facilities not as good as I was expecting. Such as no air con in the room, only one light switch for the main lights - by the door, limited convenient jack points for charging computer, home, etc.
Also, at breakfast coffee was only lukewarm and selection of continental not very good considering the price.
But knowing all that, I probably would consider staying there again, mainly because of the great staff.

The dining area is small which is normally fine until a bus load of people want their breakfast at the same before departing.
The hotel is close to the centre of town so visiting tourist attractions, restaurants etc is no problem.

L.Nice budget hotel, large clean room. Friendly reception and bar staff. Parking $25 at the Wilson round the corner. Breakfast also expensive at $25 each plus extra for drinks (instead come out of the hotel and turn left or right and there’s plenty of places to eat at a more reasonable price)
D.Nice spacious clean room. Comfy bed. Nice bathroom but didn't like how water from shower flows up to the base of the toilet. Lovely dinner in the restaurant. Were given wrong room number when checked in which was a bit annoying. Had trouble looking for a park before checking in as had no idea where on site parking was. It's a few spaces out the back. Need to pay $25 and put a piece of paper on your dash. Great spot to be, close to everything. Will stay there again
T.We stayed Sunday night and arrived late to a lovely welcoming from reception. Our room was clean, the bed amazing and perfect temperature. Nice to have decent pillows and not the huge puffed up ones. Very central for us to wander around wellington and we are 60, not spring chickens. They happily booked our taxi to airport and minded our luggage while we were out. Breakfast was lovely and included in price. Service was excellent. Only complaint would be l got the last of the coffee and it was sooo strong and overcooked. Maybe keep an eye on the coffee pot. Would highly recommend this hotel. We will be going back here again.
H.This feels like a tired motel. The room was small and basic, but generally clean. The hallway narrow and slightly dingy. There were basic amenities in the bathroom: soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The staff was friendly but there was no concierge service of any kind (I asked them to help book a restaurant: they dialed the restaurant and handed the phone to me). Basically, it feels like the kind of hotel good enough for a government worker to get a night's sleep and some work done without anyone accusing him/her of wasting taxpayer's money on anything approaching comfort. If I had a choice of hotels in Wellington, I would not pick this one.
M.Average. Rooms are tired and need maintenance...in stark contrast to grand entrance and conference facilities. Restaurant is great.
S.Great location very central to almost everything in Wellington cbd. Rooms, are relatively small and parking is limited and tight for large vehicles. But value for money equation is good. Very satisfied with our stay.
L.We dropped off a boat for the Picton ferry in Wellington and chose to stay at the West Plaza hotel. Great place to stay, affordable room rate, parking which is plus for us and a spacious room. Everything works, TV channels are where they are meant to be, a desk and chair to do some work. The restaurant menu has a a good selection and I was happy to see a vegetarian meal. Chris on the desk and Luke in the restaurant represented the West Plaza well. We will be back.

M.Great location. Central to everything. Staff were fantastic & went out of their way to be helpful & friendly. Dined in the restaurant twice as the food was so good. My only two suggestions for improvement would be that the "scrambled" eggs in the breakfast buffet could be greatly improved & a fan in the rooms wouldn't go astray as the rooms tended to be quite stuffy at night, even with both windows open.
Would definitely stay there again & would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Wellington.
R.Check in was easy, professional and quick. The room was clean and tidy, and more spacious than how I imagined. Whilst checking out, I met housekeeping in the hallway after checking out, they were very friendly. The staff here are very friendly overall.
J.Old hotel with very little noise insulation. Shower only no bath, shower sprays toilet. It is, however, in a good location and close to everything and staff were very friendly and helpful.
P.Very professional staff. Good conference venue with good access to second floor (lifts and stairs). Liked the spacious double height foyer area and the layout of the ground floor restaurant and bar area. Could talk to a big group, and individuals with ease. Central location 10 mins walk from train and 10 minutes walk Te Papa.
G.I didn't think I'd used the wardrobe ,but had. I'd left some track pants there.
I enquired. I was called back Saturday. The staff used my address I'd left my credit card details and they were track and traced to me. Well done!

m.This is a large hotel.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable.
There is a nice lounge area with a bar.
There is a restaurant that offers breakfast and dinner.
There is no hotel gym however you can go to Les Mills.
There is car parking on a first in first served basis.
This hotel is extremely central, it's within walking distance to cafe's, bars, restaurants, cinemas and public transport. Te Papa is also close by.
Hotel staff are polite however don't expect extremely good outstanding service.
The showers are quite low so keep this in mind if you are tall.
We chose to walk to a cafe for breakfast rather then have it at the hotel.
There is no reward program when you stay here often.
The building is quite old however they have done their best to keep it to a good standard.
This would be a good place to stay if you are visiting for business.
One thing that did bother me was that there is no power point by a mirror. This makes using a hair dryer or straighteners difficult. There is a power point in the bathroom for shavers only.
N.Love the location, close to everything you need For shopping, food and walking along the beautiful waterfront. And unlimited WiFi is always awesome. Room was great and really comfortable beds.
M.Welcomed in a friendly manner but felt most reception staff were quite offhand after this.
Ordered a paper for each morning which was noted. 1st morning collected one from reception and mentioned it was not delivered but did not arrive on the subsequent days. We were not charged for it.
Breakfast and staff were good.
Dinner menu uninspiring so dined out.
Overall ok but felt the photos online gave a false impression of style and smartness.
L.we had a work function held here for a couple of days. the room was alright, good amount of tables, chairs. the staff weren't too approachable and didn't really look like they wanted to be there.. the food that was available to us for catering purposes wasn't the best either- in terms of not that pleasant to eat and not really suitable for large groups of attendees to a work function. it was okay but not great
A.The location great, the staff super friendly and helpful, the room a bit small but clean, and breakfast was nice. But it was SUPER HOT in the rooms. We had the windows open and two fans going and still it was hot as. The curtains were left open by room service so the sun would come in and make it even hotter. Do not stay there in the summer! For winter its a great hotel I would say. West plaza invest in AC!
W.I always love this place and stay often on my Wellington visits. First of all, you can not beat the location, smack bang in the middle of the city.
Rooms in the main wing are nice (would advise staying in the main wings).
They have there own bar and there are no lack of bars and restaurants around.
Great food from the restaurant and all staff have bee. Greatly accommodating over the past few years.
M.The best thing I liked about the West Plaza Hotel was how comfortable the bed was which got it up to a 4 star. The bathroom is small and could do with an overhaul, note shower curtain. There is breakfast available downstairs, but it's in a great location for restaurants so you don't have to go far for some great breakfast or dinner places nearby. They have meeting room and a work area with WiFi which is handy for business stays. There is parking available but not a lot and the carpark is really tight.
M.Nice hotel, conveniently located near Te Papa and the harbour. Room was well proportioned, but decor slightly dated. Restaurant had a reasonable variety and the continental breakfast was fresh & tasty. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
M.Nicely appointed rooms- my one had opening windows for fresh Wellington air. The central location was perfect for our two day conference with lots of cool cafes and eateries nearby. The staff were very supportive despite the technology issues we experienced at times.
The set menus at West Plaza had a variety of the typical cooked vegetables and meats offered by hotels but also had delicious fresh salads and fruits. #veganfriendly!

L.Stayed in a 3 bed room with a school group. Clean, well appointed, but simple. Provides UHT milk in rooms for tea and coffee, but they provide a small jug of real milk if you ask. Lovely staff, really accommodating.
T.I have stayed here on several occasions. We had a lovely few days here to end our travels. The location of this hotel is excellent and very strategic. All in all a good hotel in a good location with great transport connections. There were excellent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

D.On arrival, the reception staff was quite stiff and unhelpful but they did make an effort after the issue was raised. The room was clean but felt a bit dated, just on the verge of needing a good refurbish. For the price we paid, the parking building view and small room was definitely not good value. The typical sort of place that, because of its central location, takes itself for a bit more than it really is.
S.Trying to find somewhere to park to check in was impossible. Very limited parking but ability to park next door was good. Beeakfast was terrible. Bacon inedible, hash browns too overcooked to eat. Room was ok but shower lacked any pressure. Also remote for tv only woked intermittently.

S.Nice place. A little dated but it's clean, tidy, centrally located, well priced, and the staff are great. Breakfast is far too cheap if you get a bed and breakfast deal, it's unbeatable in central Wellington for a tenner.

T.The hotel is well located. Unfortunately the rooms are not very modern and you can find some rust in the washroom. There seemed to be a mix-up with the breakfast, which had been paid in advance. The staff was nice helpful and corrected the mistake.

There is almost only hot food or just sweet spreads and muesli / cornflakes. Bread only on demand and that is just, like almost everywhere in New Zealand, inferior white bread. No further selection. There is no cheese and sausage. Brief statement: "We don't have that". Actually, it should be a matter of course for the catering trade, especially from a certain class, to offer the guest the most comprehensive service possible. Ideally, no extra costs.
