L.Interesting and well kept hostel. Kitchen and gardens are clean and there are many areas if you are in need of some quiet.
We had a private double with shared bathroom. The toilet and shower were just down the hall.
Kitchen is well stocked including plates, cutlery pots pans. It was clean and guests treated it respectfully by cleaning and replacing items
C.This hostel was beautiful, everything was so well kept and clean and so many beautiful flowers around the property - I thought this was great. I booked a 3 bed female dorm and the extra touches of two pillows and a lamp and an extension cable at each bed was so helpful and practical. The only thing was there wasn't anywhere to hang my towel as the two hooks were taken by people's coats so perhaps more areas for this?. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped, there was an incredibly cosy feeling to the entire hostel with the big fires and comfortable chairs. I only wish I had stayed longer here. The cats and little dog around were really sweet too and some information about them in the foyer was helpful - it felt like being at home. You can tell the owners really put an effort into their property. Also free tea and coffee! :) fab.
E.Really nice hostel, set in a beautiful old building. Dorms were big and airy, with plenty of electricity sockets. Huge kitchen with plenty of supplies and large outdoor area. Have stayed in both Westport hostels and would recommend this one.
T.Very accommodating. Great service. Happy to put our motorcycles inside yard. Gave us extra cabin so we all had bottom bunks/ beds. Free breakfast with the rooms. Nice clean shower and toilet block. Overall very nice and we will be going back there.

The insides are decorated immaculately to the 19th century theme.
It was the middle of winter when we were there but owner tends to the coal fire which keeps the whole building very warm and cosy.
Nice big kitchen. Dorm rooms are good size.
A very cute dog lives there as well which is always a bonus.
Overall loved staying in a historic hostel and would recommend to every traveller in the Westport area.
J.Ok YHA. Pros: Nice garden/outdoor area. Spacious kitchen, big room. Good location with little/no traffic and good parking facilities. Cons: we booked a private room with bathroom, but our bathroom was in the hallway, with a shower that hardly drained. Would liked prebooking info about this and the fact that the owner has 3 cats and 1 dog roaming. The welcome could have been less transactional. The main building and kitchen equipment could use some maintainance. We liked the mansion style - the place has great potential!
N.I took my parents here for their first hostel experience. They loved it. The house is gorgeous and the facilities are more than ample for a packed house. Particularly the kitchen which is huge and has significant equipment. Rooms were clean and large. Definitely recommend.
T.This is one of the best hostels I've seen so far in New Zealand. I was working there for accommodation for one week. The owners Jack & Donna are very kind people and I loved to stay there. The house is a really beautiful old villa. I felt at home since the first minute I arrived here. The facilities and rooms are very clean and tidy. The garden is also a good place to relax. I can definitely recommend this hostel!

S.Warm and comfortable hostel, the fire was kept stoked even after 10pm. Kitchen was a pretty decent sized, bathrooms clean. There is a game room and tv room. Like three lovely cats around.

L.Pretty normal Hostel. It's really clean. you just get limited wifi in Form of vouchers 500 MB per night. (Zenbu Hotspot). Kitchen is closed between 10:30 and 12:00 and the gas isn't working after 22:30.Beds are normal size. Showers are big and comfortable. At my time there everyday arrived a stray bus.
S.The privat room with an ensuite was very cozy. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and the beds were comfortable. The house is warm and the owner is very helpful and friendly.
The kitchen can get a little crowded but that is not a big deal.

M.I've stayed in a lot of YHA motels, but this one takes the prize. This is the best YHA i've ever been too. Chose a shared dorm room, as always economic, rooms are considerably spacious, and maybe every inch of this is place is clean and makes you feel at home. Morover the lawns are amazing, I have never seen people just lying down in the lawn in the sun, reading books, Chilling in the hammocks - this place is amazing. Definitely coming back here.
A.This place has a huge kitchen which was great for a full bus load of us. The hostel is a listed building so it has loads of charm, and sits in a quiet part of town.

D.I accidentally left my iPhone there. I called, they had it and after I posted them a prepaid return box, they posted it me. All up, it took a week. Next time I’m in Westport, I’m staying there!!

Schönes altes Haus - gut eingerichtet und sauber. Die Küche ist ebenfalls umfangreich ausgestattet. Lediglich morgens ist es ein bisschen kalt - aber gut das ist wohl dem Winter zu schulden. Ansonsten schöne und gepflegte Zimmer. Sogar Kamin, Gesellschaftsraum und "Spielzimmer" ist vorhanden. Insgesamt echt gut!
