T.Stayed at this Holiday Park for 8 nights while our Team were working in the area, what a great experience we received from Louise (I’m assuming is the owner) and her daughter Kayla who assisted myself in the online booking process. I would recommend this Holiday Park to anyone. Excellent facilities and beach access. Go and try it for yourself 👍

A. R.What a lovely place . I came across it by accident and went in to have a look . The beach it beautiful and the camp seemed well set up . The lady I spoke to at reception I think she may have been one of the owners was very friendly and helpful. Place was nice and clean . I didn't stay as I needed to get to somewhere else that day. But would be very happy to go back and stay when back in the area.

The place is not too far from Whakatane, which has lots of good outlets, supermarket, spa cinema etc.

Very family friendly with lots of activities for the kids and very affordable for such a beautiful place.

B. M.Just left after a great 2 nights camping with my husband and 3 kids under 8. We had an absolute ball here. Such friendly helpful staff that go the extra mile and the estuary is great for little kids whilst the sea is gorgeous for body boarding. Great site and kids loved the bouncy pillow.

M.I love coming here, for the sun, the beach, the breeze and fishing. The water is beautiful it's a river flowing to the ocean so, if you dont wish to swim or chill directly on the beach and or swim in the sea then theres that little area there, where there are no waves and it's perfect for children

A. N.What a well setup campsite. Clean with all the facilities needed. And at last a camping ground with unisex showers where as a couple you can shower together if you so wish.

a. k.Lovely place units are clean and tidy . Some things disappointing no oven if you wanted to cook but not a biggy b b qs available. All in all would recommend to everyone and anyone and will be back.

Great place for swimming with younger kids too. There is a playground 100 or so meters down the road bit it's out of the park...could still work though if everyone went down to the park not just one parent and all the kids.
70 dollars for two nights in a self contained camper was a little steep. Maybe a self contained area at a cheaper rate.
Nice blob out though have some good friends there who have s permanent site they visit most weekends and they are very happy. Nice and quiet.

Staff are really nice and friendly, more than happy to help.
The facilities are all really clean also.
The jumping pillow keeps the kids occupied for hours.

l. p.We have extended our stay as this camp is so wonderful. Host Glen is an amazing camp host. He communicates with all campers - young and old. Glen is constantly on the move (on his push bike) around the camp checking everyone is happy and ok.
B. S.Such a fantastic place to stay for our family summer holiday. The hosts are so welcoming, and accommodating. The facilities are generous, and always kept clean. The location is perfect - great surf, and estuary, and so close to Whakatane when you need to get supplies. Definitely will be going back.
c. m.We chose this holiday park for our first trip away with our classic caravan. The managers were super friendly and the camp was sparkling clean. All the appliances and facilities looked brand new and there was plenty of hot water for showers etc. It was lovely to stay in a family orientated camp and to sit in our caravan and watch all the goings on of camp life. Lots of people enjoying the beach, fishing, swimming and beach combing. It was very restful and peaceful. Thanks for a great experience and not far from home either.

P. H.I'm in Heaven!!! Most amazing place too go!!! I had a blast here. Took a tonne of pics. Played at Beach. Chilled in shade under Trees in massive carpark area.. Collected many cool shells. Beautiful swimming an Fishing spot. Awesome too see people out riding Horses. Sooo friendly. Has Camping area right there. Just beautiful ❤️💯❤️
J. R.What can I say...Outstanding for starters. We have just experienced a fantastic 10 days at Thornton Beach Holiday park.
The ablutions were clean and tidy, the kitchen facilities were excellent with dish washing liquid and cleaning gear provided.
The token purchased for the showers last long enough to have a good shower and then a bit more. Cheap at the price of $1.00 this ensured there was plenty of hot water for all.
The camp sites were huge (some still seems to be able to spread into the neighbouring site though).
Glen, the owner was a perfect host and had lots of great information on the area and fishing etc.
The beach and river were good for swimming, although one had to watch for rips in some areas.
Would we go there again.....definitely

H. H.I absolutely loved it, I loved the view of the beach and the air balloon was very fun to jump on. The cooking facilities were amazing and I absolutely loved my stay. This has been the best camp park I have been to.
N. 9.The camp ground it’s self was clean, organised and very safe. Park staff were great and very helpful! Glen was always around making sure everything was clean and everyone was alright, if they needed anything he’d do his very best to get it for you. We can’t wait to come back soon! W. G.Friendly staff. Can be busy during the peak holidays season but good clean facilities. More than happy to fix any issues you find/come up with if they're not fighting other problems. You can probably throw your child from the massive sausage pillow bouncer over the dunes to the beach.
We just had my sisters wedding reception there. It was an amazing day. Because its so close and kid friendly it made the reception that much more enjoyable. With the bonus of your guests not having to drive somewhere else to sleep after all the food and drinks. Crawling to a tent after finishing the night with a bonfire on the beach with mega marshmellows... perfect.

l. y.Basic park facilities but the office closes earlier than we were told. You need an access card to enter the premises after the office closes. It was not a fun wait. The campground is too crowded for my liking and isn't as near to the beach as I'd like.

M. C.We stayed here for two nights whilst our friends walked the 50km Oxfam fundraiser. We found it to be clean, beds were sort of comfy though a big person might struggle to say that with the thin mattresses!
M.Very nice place to stay. Sites are of good size; camping is not too big, so not too crowded. On the first two days we were there the camping was full and still we didn't feel claustrophobic or incomodated. It was windy one day, but the sites we were provided very nice shelter. I believe most of the sites do. You are 5 min away from a gorgeous, well frequented beach. There are many other good places not too far to visit and enjoy if you don't want to stay only there. Amenities are good. Showers are coin operated. Be aware that when the time expires, the water is off! Showers area needed more light, but it is a detail based on cleanness and set up. Heaps of hooks to hang your stuff are very helpful. The outdoor bbq area is inviting and use of the bbq is free. The on premisses shop have some good options and also prepares take away food. Staff is always very helpful, happy and around. There are few very nice cabin options available. There is an outside shower for when coming from the beach. The laundry was new and very well mantained when we went there. The do and incentive recycling. More water points spread around the sites would b helpful but it seems to me they are always busy improving the place! We had a very pleasant stay there!

The beach was fun with the sand bars creating a safe place at low tide for little kids. The surf lifesaving guards were on hand to mind big kids in surf. Take a surf caster! Loads of fish to be caught in the river mouth.

A.it has the perfect location right away from the roads and towns and it's so peaceful and quiet, the people are friendly and it's so clean. the beach the river a park the wharf where you can fish surf or relax and read a book. food is on the expensive side but that's to be expected.

A. H.I really want to give this one star and a horrible review to keep this place a secret 😎 What a stunner, how this isn't a Top 10 I don't know. Caters to everyone, tenting, campers, caravans, tourist cabins and lease hold. Beutifully maintained, excellent facilities, awesome owners, and an absolutely stunning location. 10-15 min north of Whakatane for all the supplies you need, with heaps of activities within easy driving distance. This is a Top 10 world wide for me.
