I was impressed how spotless our rooms were. All bed linens were sparkling white and clean. Look even the shower curtains are changed after for the new clients. Room services was awesome! No dust or dirt. Showers 10/10 spotless I do recommend this Motel, the staff are very humble .

Nice tidy, basic room. Tea and coffee facilities with a small fridge and microwave. Bathroom was a decent size with a comfortable sized shower and great water pressure. Downside was the double bed which was too small for our liking, used to our king bed. Air Con/heat pump worked great and room had a ceiling fan also. Nice and central to whangarei city.

Great place to stay! Room with SPA is definitely a huge benefit of having a relaxing treatment after a long road. Very friendly, supportive and understandable staff. All five stars from my side! Definitely will stay there again when next time in Whangarei!

Clean and tidy room. Three adults and a baby was a cosy comfy fit for us. Beds are comfy although the pillows were a bit firm and flat for my liking but they do provide extras. Like the extra tv in the room on separate viewing channels thankfully. Fully stocked kitchenette with cutlery etc. The fan in the room was great to keep on overnight and not intrusive. Off street parking, little table and chairs outside the room. Might suggest they have one for all the rooms as was sharing with neighbours which was not a problem. Some people like privacy. While there is a busy main road beside the lodge, the traffic noise is not too intrusive. Would recommend to family and friends and would stay again.

The room was tidy and had everything that was needed and the service was very friendly. However there washing machine was out of order which made it very difficult to get washing done. In the morning it took a very long time to get hot water but we where told that it was just because we were in the last room in the row and other rooms where empty so it took a little bit to get there. It is in a good location with town just a 10 - 15 minute walk away. The sky channels where grainy and the movie channel had cricket playing over it as if they were pulling the signal out of the air waves without actually paying for sky. The Freeview channels worked fine though. In total the room was spacious enough for four and although a little dated everything was comfortable and was fine for a couple of nights stay.

Stayed for 2 nights in large studio. Very clean with all that we needed, kitchenette with microwave and great water pressure in shower.||We found the bed a little lumpy/soft (like sleeping on the couch) otherwise everything was fine.

We used two rooms and loved them both. This is a special place, super clean and everyone is friendly and supportive. It was a difficult trip for us but BKs made it wonderful.

Good service. We were left alone to do our own thing and the room was clean. It stunk of cigarette smoke though and we had someone knock on our door asking for someone else which felt weird. Other than those two things, it was an alright stay.

Standard kind of motel, nothing very special about it but our room was clean and tidy, if a little stuffy. Plenty of info at reception about things to do in the area. On-site parking is handy, but I'm not sure if there's actually a space for every room, since ours was right in the corner - so get in quick!

BK’S Pohutukawa Lodge has just reopened after an extensive renovation and WOW! Look no further for accomodation in Whangarei. I booked as a last minute thing as I wasn’t expecting to stay in Whangarei the night however, it was the best surprise. Staff were warm and welcoming, easy access and parking, great free Wi-Fi with smart TV. The room was impeccably clean with brand new beds, bedding, furnishings, bathroom, kitchen and flooring! They really have done a great job and I will be adding it to my regular rotation of business stops 100%

We got this place sorta last minute and relatively cheap so it's pay for what you get really. The place was a little run down, still clean though . Just really really hot in summer cuz the ceiling fan didnt help much. But other than that size was decent, service was great, and location really close to city centre.

Very rude and unfair. They gave me a booking and then decided two days before that they need to cancel it. with absolutely no fault I end up with without a booking two days before the trip. They don't even bother picking up the phone, they send me an email like you have no booking now sorry 2 days before the booking date.

The place was cozy and had everything we needed. Had to find a place to stay near the hospital that was reasonably priced due to family being in hospital and paid for two nights ended up needing to rush to Auckland hospital and when I told Owen the owner he helped in everyway he could...can't say enough about this place.

Being the busy time of the year 2wks b4 Christmas 2021 my dad had been transferred down from kaitaia to whgz hospital and we were still in the red for Covid. No motels available then this 1 come up but only for couple days but my dad got worse and Owen blocked this unit for us as long as we needed it.
