Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and the beds and pillows are very comfortable! Pickles the Cockatoo is a real treat to have in the lobby, such a beautiful and sweet parrot :)

Closest to where I wanted to be. Room was clean, just found it weird having a 'bathroom' like sink in bedroom. I thought a bit outdated, but they did say we're refurbishing. Big plus, was the excellent restaurant. Overall very good.

Had lunch at the Angus Inn Lower Hutt on Wednesday, Fabulous lunch, my partner was also impressed as for the first time he had real mushrooms not the tinned variety he normally has at other restaurants. The staff were very efficient and friendly, yes we will definitely eat there again next time we venture down to Lower Hutt. Well done to all concerned at The Angus.

Definitely a "three star" hotel. Could do with a microwave, coffee (instead of four different types of tea) and a shower that doesn't flood the bathroom. You gotta make sure you're not wearing your spare socks when you go in after showering 😅🤣 Parking is decent and distance to places, is good. We ordered food and that was also well made. No huge issues really. A main light above the bedroom would've been nice, however.

The hotel is pretty and the staff very friendly. I am a profesional at the hotel industry with more than 13 years of experience. The negative point is that they have a cockatoo locked in a small cage unable to fly. So, my message to the owner/ manager is How do you feel if you were locked in a room your whole life without the chance to go outside and have a walk????... Animals should be free, and if you want to have that beautiful bird as a pet you must give him Enough space to fly, give him love and do not cut his wings!!!!!! That is so bad!!!

We held an evening function here and the staff were outstanding and helpful. Right from the desk staff, venue manager, hospitality and cleaners, not to mention the parrot. The food was beautiful and the beds and rooms were very comfortable. I highly recommend booking functions with the Angus Inn and their amasing staff. From the Care Matters Team .

The service was great. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The decor in the rooms is a little tired but the pricing reflects that. We could have done with 2 extra pillows, we only had one pillow each. Only issue. We had room service breakfast and it was great. And the cockatoo in the lobby is an awesome guest greeter.

Plenty of room in the carpark but not pleasant to drag cases upstairs to our room level. The room was clean and spacious with a comfy large bed. The curtains covered the whole window and blocked out the light well. I thought the light over the bed didn't work till I moved the pillows in the morning and discovered another switch. Nice to have the option of a bath. Cute little kitchen alcove with cups and mugs. Plenty of tea/coffee milk capsule supplies. Separate sink for washing cups in the room. Hanging of Art canvases on the wall could be improved. Desk and bench so two could sit to work on laptops or tablets. Loads of hanging space above a luggage rack. Nice to have a door opening to a private balcony for fresh air. Say hello to Prickles the cockatoo in the foyer. He will reply.

PROS - We chose to stay here because it was close to the hospital where our grandchild was born. We were made aware of the hotel being under construction and I believe when it's finished it will be excellent which will match the service my family and I recieved during our stay. Very clean and tidy and I think "Pickles" needs a pay rise, he greets and farewells all his guests. CONS - We had to leave

There for work. It's a place I wouldn't stay with my family. Birds is great by door saying hello. Food is good but pricey for family. Room was good basics like tea coffee etc. Old school is look to the building. Staff were good if anything came up

There are probably better rooms then the one I stayed in. The room I was in was ok. The beds were good and comfy. They have a good amount of towels available in the room. My biggest complaint is that the bath tub was too shallow and one side of the bath had almost no lip to put your hand on to help you lift yourself up. This made it hard to get out.

Friendly and helpful at reception . Room nicely presented & clean Dining was pleasant, the menu was okay, but I'm more of a plane eater. Breakfast was great, loved the way it was cooked for me, so it was fresh and hot. Overall it was a pleasant stay. Definitely recommend.

A little disappointed. Room was musty smelling. No sky tv. WiFi was exceptional with a strong signal. Had the eye fillet steak which was exceptional. Side of Mash was over priced at$6.50???? Felt outdated. Stains in my carpet of my room. Strong shower. Guy at reception was on to it and good service. Menu needs upgraded. Just printed sheets? The info book need updating as some info if confusing and mixed. Ok experience.

Good central Location and rooms are decent, not ultra modern but not too far off. Bathroom could do with an update. Bed was a bit soft for my liking. Spa room can be booked in half hour slots and was a nice facility to have available. Front of house and House keeping staff were lovely and accomodating. I'd stay there again.

Pleasantly surprised, room has exceeded my expectations. Staff friendly and informative. There is a very comprehensive information folder also in the room. GREAT!

I stayed with a large group of 12 and the management and staff couldn't be more helpful. There were a number of large groups staying at the time (due to a conference in town) and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were brilliant and adapted as needed. Comfortable rooms and pleasant restaurant. The parrot was an unexpected bonus!

We went to the Angus Inn Sunday buffet for my mother's 90th birthday and where we sat was too hot for her. The Maitre D asked us if we'd like to move to a table under the air-conditioning and he proceeded to rearrange the tables to accommodate our group. Fantastic service and the food is awesome as well.

FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS ATTEND A FUNCTION. NEWLY REFURBISHED HOTEL. EATERY FUNCTION CENTRE WAS SUPERB. RECOMMEND ALL LOCALS VISIT AND VIEW ASAP. HIGHLY RECOMMENED TO ALL VISTORS.

Fantastic food. Really helpful staff. Clean and comfortable bedroom. Excellent Conference facilities.

Moderate priced place but no microwave or toaster etc. Not even any cutlery or condiments in my room. Ordered room service which looked very appealing but had nothing to eat it with! Had to call back to get knife and fork etc.... Food was then luke warm sadly but tasty and very filling nonetheless.

Great location. Friendly helpful staff. Good facilities. Hard to find a park as I guess parking spaces taken up by conference guests. Guests I believe should have nominated and have priority with parking. Lovely Cockatoo in reception called Pickles!

This place really is dating away. Rooms are old and tired, zero soundproofing. It is clean and tidy with nice staff. There is next to no parking, esp when they are holding a conference and forget about their paying guests

Super comfy beds and excellent restaurant, great for a night or two away on business. The parrot is cool as well! Free access to the Les Mills down the road which is a bonus.

Stayed here a year ago with my Daughter and loved it. Essential to everything and the Meals were Devine.

We were staying here while attending a nearby wedding. The room was good, price decent, location suberb. The bathroom really needed an extraction fan for showers, but that was a small negative. Also breakfast was pretty average.

Went to Angus for xmas dinner food was excellent and well presented Only one small comment could of played soft Christmas carold on the back ground but overall ten out of ten well done for your first year keep it up

Enjoyed the stay here Monday night 9/3/20 had a very good roast tea in the restaurant restaurant staff very welcoming and pleasant to speak to also had a few quite drinks in the bar and also a very good friendly barman to serve you with whatever beverage you desire.

Tonight we had the pleasure of having dinner at The Angus Inn!! Great Kai, Great Service, will definitely return for dinner again and a heavy Bevarage or 2 at the bar!! Too mean thanks Angus Inn Staff!!

there were some amazing parts of our weeks stay here but i only give them a 3 as one of the receptionists was really rude.he was rude on the desk and also in the restaurant in the morning.i would have given it a 2 if it werent for cecilia and josie.these 2 ladies were absolutely lovely made our stay here a bit more enjoyable.there are another couple of amazing staff i cant remember their names.also well done to the cleaners you do a great job...the restaurant needs attention as the wait time and qaulity of the meals isnt great.35minute wait for a garlic bread entre is not a good look and my pasta was like soup. there are lots of great things about the angus and i will be back to stay hopefully some things improve so i can change the rating.

Dinner on sunday evening was one of the best meals I've had in a long time....beautifully cooked and well presented.

very good location for shopping.Right next to Queensgate shopping mall.Very old style accommodation. Clean.Bathroom is good.Bed was a little too soft for us. Had only cups &drinks&a small friedge,no cutleries nor microwave that made it hard to warm up food or eat breakfast in our room. Lovely staff and a friendly bird who greets you in English :-)

My daughter was gutted that the pool is no longer there, but our room was nice and clean. Great location for our shopping trip

This place has great facilties & location! Stayed here a few times now and decided this will be our hotel when we were in the Capital for work. Only 1 downside 😏🙄😔 the older woman on the reception is grumpy 😏. Please great your customer with a smile.😁😁😁😁

I stayed for a night so I could get to the market early and beat the morning rush to Queensgate. Even though I forgot my pillow, which I can't normally sleep without, I got a good night's sleep - the bed in my room was really comfy. The staff lovely, and needs basically met - the only flaw I could find was that my room had no USB ports (except one on the TV which was too high up)... so I could not charge my phone or iPad. Lao, an odd freak occurrence happened - I've stayed a lot of places and never been rung by hotel staff at 10pm at night (when I've been in my room, having checked in and paid for it at 2pm) and been asked if I was turning up! Some wires crossed somewhere I feel ... but a five-star rating none-the-less!

Went for dinner. Great service, limited menu but we were pleasantly surprised. The meals were very nice. Will go afain for sure.

Alright for first time pretty much just a layed back place. Not much views. Meals were Devine and Staff were awesome. But the room we stayed in wasn't what we expected.

Stayed here while my husband was in hutt hospital for almost a week, as we r from nelson. I will be coming back for a weekend away with my husband once he is healed up. Wonderful helpful caring staff. Thanks for helping make my stay away better

Good place to stay for a short trip be it work or leisure. Rooms are very clean and has most of the things you would need. Restaurant serves nice food.

This is a nice quaint Hotel, A good place to stay if you are visiting Lower Hutt. The rooms are clean and the service staff are very friendly and attentive. The food in the restaurant is very good too. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Have been here a couple of times now and its certainly improved over the last few years. Still need to sort out parking which is a shocker. Rooms have certainly improved since my visit.

+ : the bathroom with a bathtub ; comfortable bed ; big room - : electric kettle could not be emptied to assure that no old water is inside, so I preferred not to take a coffee ; a bit old

Nice place decor is dated but very clean. Bed was terrible. Location was handy. Restaurant served nice food. But lacked a decent beer.

Simple and typical NZ Motel. Decent accom, decent price. Near to eateries, but the carpark being demolished next door doesn't add any charm! (Not the fault of the hotel!)

Nice and clean room, friendly staff.,24 hour reception, car park was full and we were told that we could park our bikes under cover just outside the reception which was greatly appreciated

The building is a bit old and outdated. However the rooms are bigger than those newer hotels. Right opposite the Queensgate Shopping Mall.

I've never stayed here. Only been for work briefings. But there is a talking parrot in the foyer and you can't say that about many places.
