Reviews of Scenic Hotel Te Pania
Great hotel in the centre of Napier. Rooms at the front have two chairs and a table which are really pleasant to sit at and watch people and the sea. Also two chairs in a hotel room is sheer luxury! Room is well equipped and a guest laundry is a bonus. Free car parking and if there are no spaces the reception team will find you one. Easy walking distance of town. All in all a very pleasant stay.
Absolutely spot on in every-way. What a really nice surprise was to have a welcoming Christmas present and card in our room on arrival ! Nice touch Katie.
Honestly this hotel rocks, we had a fantastic room on the 6th floor with a view to die for. Very clean and comfortable as always. By the way every room has a view.
Thank you again to the whole team for giving up their Christmas and Boxing day for us to have a wonderful stay.
Kind Regards
Steve
The room was spacious and comfortable for the price.
The restaurant menu was extensive and delicious.
It was a shame that when I tried to fill the bathtub with hot water, black iron rust powder came out.
We came back to stay at this hotel for three nights and again everything was fantastic. The check in and out process was quick and easy and the reception staff were always helpful and friendly. This time round the room was amazing with a great view. The room service on our first night was beautiful and the food was perfect. We will definitely keep returning here.
A very pleasant stay here. The rooms were very comfortable, clean, and well appointed. Had buffet breakfast in the morning, which was very nice. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely return.
The location of the hotel just across the street from the ocean is great. They also have free parking for guests. Everything to do & see is within walking distance. Nice on site restaurant that’s a bit pricey, both service and food was good.
Front desk service was slow and un concerned. No bell service offered.
Housekeeping was loud & obtrusive beginning around 8a daily.
Street out front noise invaded our sleep.
Amazing Rooms with awesome views and lovely customer service. We had the best family weekend stay everyone enjoyed them selves. It was so convenient being able to walk to town and also enjoy the atmosphere of the sea just metres away from the hotel. Recommended too all :)
We took our bordie collie dog with us as they have two rooms for dogs. Amazing place to stay
Location is perfect
The restaurant was great and staff fabulous making sure the dog had plenty of water outside.
Restaurant was great food. Loneliest fish and chips I have had. Choose to stay here again and hope to see them Christmas time
Loved our stay with you :-) This is the second time and it did not disappoint, you lived up to all our expectations following our first visit (with our two tiny dogs). The first time we stayed we had a ground floor room with outside access to a grassy lawn; this time (without puppies) a fourth floor room with a view. The buffet breakfast was good (didn't need lunch!) and your staff were all very friendly. Thank you, you will be our first choice any time we are in the area.
The layout of the hotel is great, as every room gets an ocean view. Love how accessible it is to every where. Only downside is when you're trying to sleep in and at 7am doors slamming by other guests leaving their rooms vibrate down the hallway into our room.
Great location. Welcoming check in staff.
Room servicing not the best, blood on door that was there when we arrived and still there when we left. Hairclip, not ours, on floor and dirt on floor in bathroom and soap dispenser stayed empty. Minor things but all accommodation need good housekeeping practices.
Otherwise than that, for convenience, we would stay here again.
Napier has been a truly wonderful surprise. At the top of the town, you can enjoy the splendour of bars, restaurants and art deco buildings.
Even still, the staff here at Te Pania made me feel like I was at home from thousands of miles away. Maggie is a fantastic host and is an expert in their industry. Their array of local wines and brews were recommended by Maggie and I thoroughly enjoyed all suggestions.
I will definitely be staying here when back and truly look forward to it.
Room could do with updating or a lick of paint and some new furniture, the bed isn’t very comfy and the bathroom is old fashioned with the shower fixed so low it’s hard to get under and wash your hair. The location is good and the staff are friendly.
Superb views make Te Pania a unique and sensational way to enjoy the delights of the Art Deco Capital of the world.
Not fussy, but about providing a great experience and memorable visit to Napier
Scenic Hotels is a jewel in the accommodation crown of Hawke’s Bay
We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary in 2006 at this hotel. We had a fabulous time and 18 years later, we came back to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Apart from the decor, nothing much has changed from my memory of that first time. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, just like last time. The food is very good, the service is exemplary. A big shout out of thanks to Maggie in the Curve restaurant for great service, lovely chat and helpful sight-seeing advice. (To her managers - I think she's worth her weight in gold!)
Booking was easy, check- in was very smooth, the food is good, the bed is heavenly! The views from the 5th floor are terrific. The location is excellent, its an easy stroll into the heart of the town - under 5 minutes. Parking is great. The towels were nice and fluffy.
How lucky were we to be able to repeat a very happy experience after nearly two decades? Well done, Te Pania Scenic Circle Hotel!
Nice hotel in great location. Super shower. Kind of noisy from the traffic outside. Decent breakfast.
Great stay! As a family of 6 we had to book 2 x rooms, but this was still good value for money and the quality and presentation of the rooms and amenities was fantastic & the staff were lovely. We’d definitely come back again!
Beautiful large room with a view of the ocean. Close to the shops and restaurants in the art deco area. Spotlessly clean and friendly staff.
Had a King room on the front that was not bad,its a decent location to walk in to the center of town, it is a little bit noisy as the road is not far away and there are quite a lot of motor cycles around and its not double glazed in fact of the seven places we stayed on the North island non had double glazing.||Food was Ok and the bed was comfortable.
Very nice hotel in a great location. Staff were professional and courteous. Views were well appointed and spacious views were very nice.
When we first arrived, the receptionist was in a mood, he kept repeating how we couldn’t check in early (all good) to the point I had to ask him, if he was ok?
Other than that it was a short stay (overnight) our family of 4 and grandparents. Was very handy to have the adjoining rooms so our babies could go between us and their Nana and Papa.
Within walking distance to city centre so we didn’t have to drive to cafes or local shops.
We dined at the hotel restaurant with extended family staying at the same hotel who travelled from Australia. Food was great and waiting staff were very friendly.
Loved our stay at the Scenic Te Pania - The service was great, and the room well appointed. We were delighted to find doggo welcomed and so willingly accomodated :)
I love staying here as very clean and comfortable rooms and easy walk into town. The staff are friendly and the bowl of fruit to help yourself from at reception is really appreciated.
Loved the stay here.Staff we’re all friendly and so accommodating, I asked for a room on top floor for 6 year old granddaughter , who was thrilled with spectacular view.Room was amazing.Definitely would stay again
Great to take the dog with us and easy to access other amenities. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back.
Try to say here when in Napier, parking is normally ok but can be limited if buses are there. Breakfast was excellent and good service ,
Rooms ok nothing special but good for what I need.
Yep will be back
The hotel arranged a fantastic scenic room for our first visit to Napier. The hotel is very clean, the front desk is friendly, and it's within walking distance to the city center, making shopping convenient. I would highly recommend it.
We were there for a couple of nights and the room was nice however we were right behind a tree so it negated any view, the room was nice overall and well presented, the lifts were quite small so when arriving or leaving it was hard to fit luggage and people in there, the location is awesome as its close to the main town and heaps of parking out the back as well...
Stayed here for the week for work.
Hotel has a restaurant onsite which is really good, I was knackered most nights and just got room service, The food was so good
When I got home after spending 3nights my wife noticed I had lots of bite marks on my arms and back, suspected I been bitten by bed bugs. Was confirmed by a medical professional that this was the case.
I probably won’t return due to this. Pity because everything else was good.
Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough . We have two dogs and it is never easy finding decent quality places that allow us to bring them with us . On this occasion our expectations were well and truly surpassed by both the facilities and the lengths to which the staff went to , to welcome us and our dogs . Lana in reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming as were all the staff and to our amazement when we entered our room we were greeted by dog beds , bowls and treats for the dogs . An added special touch was the welcome sign for the dogs in reception . It is a pity more places aren’t as progressive as Scenic Napier when it comes to pet travel .
The location for the hotel was perfect , right on the Marine Parade and we were able to easily stroll into town . Given the location it was also surprisingly quiet .
I guess this is the best hotel in Napier ~ great location, sea view rooms, nice customer service! I definitely recommend it!
Clean and comfortable. Best view of the ocean on this trip. Appears every room would have the same view.
There weren't many options for breakfast, but the items available were of high quality. Exceptional location and service. We will visit again!
Nice place staff are really nice but the food is very average and the room air conditioner control is in reception so you need to call each time you want it turned up or down rather inconvenient and very poor design
1st trip away with our puppy and she was made to feel like the princess she is! From dog treats, dog cupcake, dog bowls, dog bed and blanket, puppychino and her own welcome sign in foyer and welcome letter. It was definitely all about our dog - which we loved! Excellent place to stay with your furry companions. Opposite the beachfront/walkway so we could easily go on lots of walks. We will definitely be back again. Thank you Scenic Hotel, Te Pania.
I was impressed with Paul from the front reception. He welcome us as guests to the hotel and made our stay comfortable. Would be nice if there was the same level of customer service from all the reception staff. The restaurant staff was helpful for breakfast and kind. Would be nice if there was some more variety for breakfast may be some greens. Location is prime. The Gym was amazing with treadmills facing the ocean.
Everything was perfect except the bed was very sunken and soft. Other than that, really loved the room.
Great place to stay, very nice buffet breakfast and great staff! Would definitely stay again.
We as a family of 4 adults and a baby alway enjoy our stay.
Checked in for a work trip, to a room with a stunning panoramic view overlooking the Napier Marine Parade. Dinner was of really high quality and the servers attentive. The dining room has a pleasant atmosphere, nice outside views and isn't overly noisy with reverberating music or sounds. Really pleasant experience and it was lovely to actually have a room with a view! Oh, and for those unfamiliar with Napier - a stones throw walk to the town centre.
Good service, nice rooms, the bathroom was a little outdated. The hoelt face to the beach, good location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend our hotel. The location on Marine Parade with a view of the Pacific is wonderful. The room was well appointed with two comfortable chairs to enjoy the view. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Housekeeping was excellent!
Good breakfast and customer service. Room needs some maintenance and upgrades work
Professional staff,Very helpful and generous!
I asked to extend my check out time from 10am to 3pm and they let me stay free of charge!!! i was absolutely blown away not to mention the amazing beach front view right outside your window thank you so so much!!!Will be there for another week look forward to that!
Gr8 parking, decor ok, limited selection with perhaps quality picks for guests two yummy dinner choices
Rooms were ok. Wind outside was really noisy think it's the building design...but ok stay
Our room was super clean and we really made use of the lounge chairs by the window. We didn’t get an ocean view but the light filled room was still great. We had a room service meal and it was delicious. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Easy walk to town and beautiful gardens on foreshore. Thankyou
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Staff were very friendly and helpful when we asked for dessert recommendations outside of the hotel, the room was spacious for a family of 4 and the view is so beautiful. I work for another hotel chain so I was looking for things to pick apart but I cannot fault our stay. Looking forward to staying again in the future!
Great venue and easy access to the waterfront, city centre, and paths. Would definitely stay at Te Pania again.
Great location on the waterfront. Although not a young hotel it was very nice.
Highly recommended. Amazing staffs. Room was very clean and tidy. Nice location, very handy, walking distance to restaurants and shops. Nice view from the room. Kids friendly, my both kids had a lovely time, and requested to visit again. Highlights was on arrival, Air conditioning was turned on prior to arrival and room was nice and cool, especially it was humidity hot on the day. Will surely visit again.
Only issue is no Sink and Bench in the room, i had to use the sink in the Bathroom, and the rooms are dated and some of the gear is starting to Break. Otherwise the rooms are great.
We had to wait two Hours past our actual check in time for our room to be ready so were sitting around with no where to go.
And were spoken to by one of the night guys in not a Ni9ce way, but the rest of the staff and service were Brilliant.
Great hotel. Cool curved shape. Love the themes on different floors. Ie blue cusions and blue decor here and there on 2nd floor, orange and pink on another floor etc. Easy breakfast buffet downstairs though a little pricey. Great views from the room and rooms were clean and orderly. Staff very helpful and easy to find. Big car park around the back. Beach across the road and town really super close!! Nice to have some drinks (including alcoholic ones) in fridge at the ready. Good that the staff top these up daily! Good room service menu too
Beautiful clean room, very comfortable bed and loverly and warm. Staff were so helpful and friendly and they game my dog such a wonderful welcome, very nice indeed
Sadly the pace needs a make over. And some money spent ourRoom has been knocked around and stained carpet etc. a clean had left their coffee cup in our room and the bluff was broken
Booked to take our very old dog away for the weekend and he had a blast.
On arrival they provided bowls, a comfy pet bed, a puppy muffin, treats, snacks and poo bags. Everything was thought of.
The room was a little tired in decor but the staff more than made up for it. Everyone was super friendly and helpful.
It was a little noisy from road traffic and a busy bar next door but we just zoned out.
We got room service for dinner on Sat night and the food was superb.
All up we had a great couple of nights, will definitely be back again and would recommend.
Lovely clean quiet room, serviced unobtrusively. Breakfasts were wonderful and we were welcomed warmly each morning. Tremendous location right over the road from the W.M.C. where we had our conference sessions and it was so close to the cafes and bars.
We had a 3 night stay this week. We requested a 2 bedroom apartment, which we got but it turned out to be a 3 room suite. There was a living area in between the 2 bedrooms, all connected by lockable doors. Location is great, walking distance to the town centre and many restaurants and bars. We were looking forward to using the beach directly across the road but on arrival, we were told not to use the beach because it is unpatrolled and very dangerous. Disappointing. We were on the 6th floor and had great views of the beach!! Staff were good.
We booked three nights here with our little dog. We were greeted and Nayla was fussed over which made us feel welcome. The room was all set with a dog bed, blanket, dog cupcakes, treat bag, poop bags and bowls. The ranch slider opened to a grass space. Perfect for us travelling with our pooch.
WE recently stayed for a conference and without exception the staff were courteous, smiling and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were excellent. Situation gave marvellous sunrises.
Great view of the water front. Lovely staff. Great meals
Fabulous and great value
We really enjoyed our stay! Amazing right from the get go, the lady who checked us in was super nice, our room was lovely with amazing views, fabulous restaurant & bar staff and incredible food! They also have onsite free parking. We asked for a late check out and they had no problem offering us 11am check out. They are so close to all the fabulous things Napier has to offer! Totally recommend starting here!
Date of stay: July 2023
Great stay, especially if you're a pet owner, the dog friendly rooms are fabulous with a special little treat for the hound and a doggie bed/bowls etc! Fire alarm at 6;20am sucked but that wasn't anyones fault.
Very handy location with a lovely view from our room.
The room was spacious and bathroom had everything we needed. Great shower pressure.
Beds very comfortable also.
I would of given it a 5 if the pillows had not been all very fat pillows that didn't even seem to compress like they were air filled! Perhaps a couple in the cupboard that were normal size would be helpful
Otherwise perfect stay.
Fantastic central location, very close to the city centre and lots of local amenities. The hotel was very well resourced and staff were very well trained and helpful. The rooms were a great size and very well maintained. We received a complimentary cheese board on arrival and fresh towels to take to the pools accross the street. The hotel organised bike hire for us allowing us to explore the oceanside trails. Breakfast was extensive and value for money. Would definately stay here again and recommend this hotel as a wonderful place to stay in Napier.
We loved our stay. Was a lovely room. Beds were comfy. Service was great. They even let a family member in before our check in to decorate the room with balloons for my sons birthday. A dream come true for Master 7!
I stay here often. This was the first time I have arrived back and my room had not been serviced or have clean towels. That was slightly off putting due to being out all day and just want to shower and relax when I got back. But understandable due to the amount of rooms. I always enjoy my stays here.
We loved the dog friendly room with the extra touches and treats, with a grass area available just outside the sliding door. Comfortable bed and delicious restaurant on site that also allowed our dog to join us for dinner outside on a gorgeous Hawkes Bay evening.
#1 choice for me to stay when in the Hawkes Bay. It has been a little while since I have stayed at the Scenic and I am glad to say, nothing has changed! The staff are welcoming and professional and have a genuine desire to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel rooms are very comfortable with amazing views to the ocean. The hotel's "Curve" restaurant never fails to delight as far as the quality and presentation of the meals. Can highly recommend the Lamb, and the Chocolate Cheesecake. This hotel is ideal for both business & pleasure trips. Katie and her team will be there to look after you, and ensure you remember the experience. I will be returning as soon as I can!
Only stayed one night, however what I seen and experienced was top notch 👌🏽. Would definitely stay again.
Great location and great food. Room service beef filet was beautiful!!
From checking in to checking out, very polite staff. The room was wonderful, very comfortable bed. Loved the Armchairs by the window, spent time looking out at the view. It was great to have instructions on how to work the TV and Heat Pump. Would recommend this site. Handy to local Restaurants.
Nice room, spacious and with a good set up in the room and the bathroom.
Beautiful location that overlooks Hawkes Bay . Great views & well appointed rooms .
Very clean amenities & bed was super comfortable. No balcony or kitchen facilities apart from a kettle & small bar fridge but no problem with the in house restaurant known as The Curve + room service & stacks of great restaurants along Marine Parade & adjoining streets.
Lack of fresh air was my main qualm but overall hard to criticise this excellent hotel . Wifi & free parking a big bonus plus the ice making machine & laundry facilities I spotted near our room . Visually clean & compliant venue and extra thanks to the staff , particularly Manish at reception .
Yes highly recommended for views , location , great part of the world .
A beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly & helpful. They even rang some time after we checked in to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The location is excellent, you can walk to all the attractions in this very welcoming city.
Reception staff were so friendly and helpful. After a long day on the road, It was so easy to check in.
Heaps of parking.
Really nice clean room.
Super comfy bed and pillows.
Right across from marine parade.
Great location and excellent menu. Food outstanding. We loved the evening meals
Just stayed 1 night, location, room an view tops! However reading their site 1 day later I prices more than 100 less than the 380 dollars we paid on Friday the 26th. We rang for a couple of continental breakfasts early and was told no kitchen open till 7 am- which was fine - however 5 minutes later reception rang said can't be done, but you can have a sandwich!!! With that room price we would expected better! We drove 1 street to th Ajuna and had the best bacon and eggs we have ever had !! All told receptionist we had 2 Corona beers which she couldn't locate!! Raymond n Suzanne
Here for a business trip for a couple of nights, the location is great as it is directly across the road from the Ocean and the Ocean Spa and just a couple mins to the centre area of Napier. The rooms are a bit tired in places and need upgrading (namely the bathrooms), but the views from the upper floors are great.
The restaurant is a bit disappointing. Good tasting dinners but small portions and very high $$$ so not really worth it. Breakfast buffet is very disappointing. Order from the breakfast menu instead for hot food and better quality.
Nice place to stay, nice clean rooms but some maintenance is needed in the bathroom.
Location, staff, breakfast, wifi, free parking is all great! I will be back
Like many places in tourist towns there is a staff shortage. When we arrived our room wasnt ready. The staff were lovely and arranged for a free drink in the bar and a room upgrade. I was really impressed with how positive and friendly they were.
Our room was lovely with ocean views. The hotel is quiet and close to the beach, cycle hirr and a myriad of fabulous restaurants. There is free parking on site but I image if you arrived late there may not be sufficient parks.
I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat.
We stayed in The Scenic Te Pania hotel in Napier. The hotel is lovely, well appointed with friendly staff.
All of the rooms benefit dmfrom some ocean view and the whole area is clean and well maintained. Napier is an Art Deco themed town, full of interesting abd beautiful buildings, we had a great time, would recommend.
Very clean hotel with spacious rooms and good service.
I really appreciated the free apples on reception and the smart TV
The hotel is very well placed for walking into Napier and has a large free car park, but is unfortunately next door to a bar, which got a bit noisy on the Saturday night we stayed.
Lovely room, people, and breakfast! My car needed a jump and the kind office manager provided it so that we didn’t need to contact road support. Napier has wonderful food and activities.
First time staying at this Hotel. Loved it. Feels and looks new and fresh (many of the waterfront Motels do not). Every room has a scenic ocean view. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend. The restaurant downstairs opposite reception is fantastic. Had dinner and breakfast there and would rate each meal 10/10. I'm very fussy but the food was fantastic.
After a week of travelling and Napier being our last stop we upgraded ourselves to a sea view room. The view was beautiful and the room clean! The beds were so comfortable. Loved the sustainability efforts they were making!
Would recommend and would stay again!
We were travelling with our dog when weather conditions causing slips forced closure of the road between Napier and Taupo. We googled accommodation that would accept our dog to stay in with us and the Scenic Hotel came up. They were fantastic and looked after us very well - there were dog feeding bowls and a dog bed in the room. The staff couldn't have been more kind and helpful we can thoroughly recommend them.
Fab location. Lovely room. Very clean. Comfy beds. Only reason I'm not giving 5* was there was a plunger but no coffee and the milk had been opened. Minor detail I know but I really dislike instant coffee and love that this hotel provides a plunger.
It’s a little tired but great location and friendly staff. Decent restaurant too. Thanks Chef.
Amazing friendly people. Comfy bed. Nice and close to town.
The room was nice and clean
Great service from the staff
Perfect seafront Hotel big enough but small enough for that personal service.
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Overall the stay was good and the staff at the reception and the restaurant were very friendly and helpful.
However, we do want to highlight that the housekeeping needs attention. Rooms were not cleaned properly and the beds only looked done from the top, underneath the sheets were not even touched. For the first 2 days our used cups were also not replaced . We definitely expected much better service at the price we paid.
Amazing service, friendly staff, second to none.
Bed was uncomfortable though.
But in saying that, we have stayed there many times before and certainly will do again.
The staff make it a very enjoyable stay.
A special thank you to Manish in the Corporate Support office who was extremely helpful with our booking and the many back and forth emails that were required. And all of the staff encountered at reception and the restaurant were all welcoming with great customer service during our stay. Thankyou
Perfect location, has everything you need, a microwave is the only thing I could ask for, apart from that Perfect. Beautiful hotel, handy to town.
I do like this hotel very much. To be able to walk across the street to the Ocean Spa for a morning swim or soak in their hot pools makes Scenic Te Pania my go-to in Napier. You cannot beat the sea facing rooms with floor to ceiling glass, the comfy Scenic beds and the charming staff. Yes it may be a bit tired around a few edges but I just don't care.
I was part of a tour group stuck in Napier at the Scenic Te Pania hotel due to Cyclone Gabrielle. This hotel out shone themselves by providing the most amazing service, food, hospitality, laughs and positive energy despite facing such huge challenges caused by the cyclone. The Kitchen brigade turned out these incredibly tasty wholesome meals, three times a day that satisfied everyone! All the staff chipped in wherever they were required, and we became a bit of a family, all trying to stay positive. They even drove some of my guests to the airport to catch flights out, using their own cars and what was left of their precious petrol. The fact there was no power or communications the entire three days we were there, the hotel produced miracles! Thank you Katie, the incredibly caring General Manager and her fabulous supportive team. You are all amazing and Scenic Hotels are so lucky they have you!!! :-)
Overall was a pleasant stay! We really enjoyed the friendly service at the main counter! The room was nicely appointed and the big windows were an awesome place for my morning coffee, the hotel restaurant was great, pricey, but brilliant food! We had to have a second serving of the mussels!
Awesome walking distance to everything and an awesome walk along marine parade and the botanical gardens!
Small note was there was no welcome information book in the room, with basic information such as the wifi password and local recommendations.
The wifi password was verbally provided when we arrived, but having it in the room would have been preferred.
And the rack for towel storage is placed directly in the shower, so before having a shower we had to remove all the towels and place elsewhere or else they would have been soaked.
But we would stay again, thanks for having us! Hopefully next time we can book a room on the top floor so we can have a great view!
The Scenic Te Pania has a prime location. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful (and even called up to the room the first evening to make sure everything was fine.
Hotel is in a really good location, next to beach and close to shops.
However, it is on a main road that big trucks use to get to the port, so you can expect noise from them early in the morning. Also, as rooms are rather dated, there's no double-glazing so you can hear boy-racers that sometimes congregate on the main road. Sound also easily travels through the main room door, as well as the adjoining door that are in between (some of) the actual rooms.
I think bathrooms would benefit from a make-over.
Air-con in my room didn't work... turned on and off randomly, and when on, I swear I could smell ciggy smoke being pumped out of them, so had to turn it off.
The saving-Grace of the stay was the Curve restaurant... while a little on the pricy side, the meals were absolutely lovely! I had the fish of the day one night and the steak on the other, both were incredibly yummy. I tried the cheesecake for dessert, and again, presentation and taste were amazing!
We try to get to Napier at least once a year and always stay at Te Pania. The location is perfect and the views simply can't be beaten. It's an easy walk into the CBD to cruise the galleries and antique shops and the Napier restaurants are excellent. Parking is a breeze at the hotel - a car is ideal as you will want to explore the coast and the vineyards.
The staff are always friendly and ready to help with whatever you need. We will certainly be back.
Our little dog was very spoilt, lots of little treats! The room was small and basic but clean, it was perfect for a short term stay. The bed was comfortable. A mirror in the bedroom/lounge area would be a great investment as the bathroom is very compact with hardly no benchspace.
Great staff, very attentative and friendly. Loved the pressure in the shower. Breakfast very adequate. Loved it here. Would recommend to any traveler. Pools across the road. Great for families traveling. Thank you Scenic Hotel Te Pania Napier
Friendly staff, great location and fairly priced.
Beautiful, clean hotel right across from the waterfront and a handy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants etc
The only downside of our corner room is it was on the second floor and everyone on the street could look in and see everything.
Great location excellent staff and large comfortable rooms
Walked in, and booked and paid for that night. Was given the Internet rate. Was also given early check in which was great. Parking Is free. I requested a top floor but was given one a level down, also good. Was not provided with much other information regarding facilities or local attractions. Breakfast was offered for $20.
Room has a good view to ocean, road and convention centre in front. Doors slam shut and make a bang. Room smelt musty but window was open. Later that night with window closed smell was very strong and I noticed wet carpet by the windows. Curtains are faded but are block outs. Road in front in noisy with large trucks heading to the port. Furniture is dented and scratched. No instructions in the room for the air conditioning, TV, media player. No regular coffee only decaffeinated. Two reasonable chairs by the window. Largish TV with faulty remote. Lack of lighting where the chairs are positioned. Can't sit there and read during the evening.
Location of hotel is good. 5 min walk to main shopping street. Staff handled my complaints about lack of coffee well even providing me with a large ready make plunger coffee.
Expected a little more at the price, but still nice, clean stay.
Choosing your room:
- Bottom rooms have external doors so you can let in a little fresh air or go outside, but no views.
- Most top rooms have views, but no external doors or windows, so no fresh air.
- Rooms with connecting doors are not sound proof, so if you have a noisy neighbour you will know.
- Easy access rooms with accessibility features have no baths, so keep that in mind.
Good:
- Ample parking (trees for shade and ambience would be nice)
- Rooms are clean and fresh
- Staff are very friendly and helpful
Not so Good:
- Only normal TV channels (Just adverts, so no Netflix, Disney etc)
- Casting from phone to TV is buggy, and freezes from time to time
Great hotel, ideally situated with lovely views wuth ease of walking access to the city.
Probably the nicest hotel in Napier, certainly the most iconic. The rooms are spacious, clean if not a little dated. The views are breathtaking. We had a large group for dinner in the restaurant, the food was ok but the service was very slow. The young lad serving had only just started but was pretty much running the restaurant and bar on his own....
The service delivered by the staff was fabulous. We had a minor incident occur and the staff were incredibly helpful and understanding. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was delicious. Our room 6th floor had a lovely view. Overall a great place to stay.
Every room has a view, although the windows are not tinted so people on the street have a clear view too. The on-site parking is great! The room was nice, perhaps a bit over priced at $311 for one night. The staff were adequately friendly. The take away coffee we bought when we checked out to take with us to Bluff Hill Lookout was nice.
Well presented rooms and courteous staff. Although facing the ocean, in this 3rd floor room (3.03) you couldn't really see it. I stayed on what was approaching the coldest day of the year and the room was freezing even with the heat pump set at maximum. I think it would be much better in summer. I found the room noisy at night and I had to request bottled water as what came from the tap was a golden yellow colour. Checking with my colleagues, they all had the same issues with being cold and the noise, but it seemed to be just my room with the water discolouration (though they all made sure to boil the water before drinking it).
Great weekend in Napier, despite the inclement weather. Our hotel was close to town so we grabbed the umbrella and walked to cafe's and shopping. Nice comfortable room, snug from wind and rain. Thanks to the lovely reception staff.
We stayed here recently for 3 nights between Xmas and New Year 2022. Our first night, there was a bar next door to the hotel who were hosting a rave event. We had a young child and were kept up until midnight, this after a long drive down from Auckland, not an ideal start to our family holiday. We were likely one of many families who would have complained about the noise. However, like anything in life it's not always about how you start it's how you finish. My wife left a message with the concierge to get the hotel manager to contact us when she returned the following morning. Katie Silcock was the manager we were dealing with, she returned our call as requested. Although the hotel wasn't the source of the noise issue, she recognised it had negatively impacted our experience at their hotel and provided us with a room upgrade and a free meal on the house. It was obviously a one off event as the next two nights were relatively peaceful as expected. She could have taken the easy option which was to blame the bar next door, but looks to have recognised that it's the little things that can be the difference between having a happy customer that will return to spend their hard earned, or leave with a negative experience never to return. This is shout out to Katie for the professionalism she showed in managing this experience, we will be back again.
Stayed here a few times now, always great service. We ordered room service which was quick and delicious
Beautiful architecture. Comfortable rooms, indeed all with a nice view, except for the ones on the first floor. We had an incident with a fire sprinkler that dripped yet the management changed us rooms immediately. Excellent staff, but I believe you can say that for all kiwis. I adored this country
While the food at the restaurant was nice the room left a lot to be desired. The bed was as lumpy as it looked. One plus was everything appeared clean albeit dated. Why was there a chair in the shower?????
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend. Location is great as its walkable distance to most places. Nice view and they even accommodated our request for a slightly late checkout. My only disappointment was that we left my husband's shirt behind hanging in the cupboard and only realized when unpacking after reaching home later that day. Called reception but unfortunately nothing in lost and found and staff have denied finding it in the room. This has obviously left a very unpleasant ending to our stay.
Lovely hotel at lovely location. We got a room upgrade and a free bottle of bubbly! 4 stars as we thought the continental breakfast could of been better and for evening meal the food was rather slow but very tasty.
Great location and comfy beds. Happy with the tv services and the customer service. The only downside was the kitchenette being very basic with only a hot water jug and a mini fridge but it is what it is. Beautiful view and windows open which is rare in Wellington
Great hotel with beach view rooms! Beautiful sunrise view from rooms too. Very clean & spacious rooms. Excellent hospitality by staff too! Free parking for in house guests. Would definitely return to stay here again!
All the rooms in this hotel face the ocean and the location in town is ideal for exploring the shops and restaurants. Ask for a high floor, as the view only gets better as you go up. The rooms are airy with good light and the seating at the floor-to-ceiling window is comfortable and relaxing. It looks good from the street, too. One huge issue, however. 10am check out time?? I got a call from the front desk at 10:50 reminding me of this (that early of a check out had never entered my mind) and they offered me a "late" check out of 11:30 without additional charges. It wasn't that long ago that noon was an industry standard. But 10? That is ridiculous on its face and I hope they consider revising this policy. But the stay was comfortable and the morning sun in the room was great. Worth a visit.
Great service and the hotel room service was superb. Very close to the CBD so no need to get taxis etc. The room was very tidy and well appointed. Was a bit disappointed with the view as we had thought it had a sea view (blocked by ocean spa) but I should have enquired about this before booking. The only things stopping it from getting 5/5 were the dated appliances (air con was ancient and didn't work well). Parking was very tight on the weekend so it was hard to find a park after 4pm. Otherwise brilliant.
First the good things, great location and very clean.
Sadly very tired, noisy and overpriced!
We were surprised to find a large number of ‘random’? people dining using hotel table and chairs on pizzas outside the rear entry into the hotel from car park.
We have stayed here many times this will be our last as it definitely not value for money
I was so impressed by the views of the sea shore from my bedroom, it was amasing. The only small improvement I would recommend would be house keeping, could the rooms be serviced before late afternoon please.
I've already booked my room for the Christmas break and really looking forward to spending time with family, that view and friendly service by your front desk staff 😀.
Location is great, all rooms have a great view - but unsure why the hotel is curved the way it is - quite easy to see in other people's rooms. Rooms and facilities look good, but you can tell corners have been cut in terms of construction and quality. The armchairs were comfortable but awkward for working/using laptops etc. Terrible noise insulation.
Best sleep we have ever had, loved the scenic view from our room the service was amazing the rooms were spotless cold drinks already to go in our fridge.
The best stay so far recommend 👌
Definitely can't wait for next stay over just perfect
Thank you from the Morris-Burton Whanau
Great location literally a stones throw (you might need a good arm)from the beach. Beautiful and clean rooms, with great views.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating especially considering we had two young boisterous kids with us,. Thanks :)
Another friendly welcome from all the staff on reception ..... The weather was unusually gloomy but the staff soon changed the mood with the familiar effervescence I have often experienced at Te Pania. My room ( as all have ) has seen an improvement to the furnishings which are now more vibrant and colourful and this noticeably has improved the ambience to my stay. I enjoyed in house dining for my two night stay and was very pleased as the quality of the food was again a very high standard. The menu was wide an varied although some of my personal favourites had been removed this didn’t spoil anything. Looking forward to my next stay already. Gavin and Sue deserve a special mention for consistently good all round service. Thank You
Very lovely neat and clean Hotel. Walking distance to a lot of things. Staff were friendly especial in the dinning area :-) especially Rahul. Rooms are lovely and clean, the bed was great and comfortable bathrooms are a good size for 2. Parking was a bit of an issue and perhaps they need to look at renting at night some of the parking at the Art place next to their parking. Views from our room were amazing (we were on the 5th floor)! Will definitely stay here again and recommend the Hotel. Oh and if you have dogs they have 1 room available for dogs :-). <br/>The things in the fridge we found a bit expensive but not sure if that is normal for hotels today!
The Scenic Hotel Te Pania at Napier’s New Zealand was a terrific part of our trip and in my personal feel, it held out awesome memories for me
Just a short walk from the beach, it offers one of the most beautiful sunrise sights
Well laid out rooms all of which give a 180 degree view and have top class linen and toiletries, Scenic Hotel aims to please
A little touch of warmth - whether its the crunchy apples on their reception counter or the milk served hot to lap up a cup of coffee or hit chocolate makes them a memorable stay option
The breakfast menu seemed a little less spread and needed a little more planning or setting up. Food quality though made it up
I had the most wonderful stay at Te Pania. The highlight for me was lovely Sam the night receptionist who was kind enough to take my last minute booking at a very late hour! He welcomed me when I arrived after midnight and made me feel very comfortable and happy! He even asked whether I had eaten when I arrived! The room was beautiful and very comfortable with the most incredible shower and huge amazing bed but the experience wouldn’t have been half as pleasant had Sam not been working; thank you Sam for everything! He is truly an asset to the hotel!
Our stay was pretty good, would be a 5 star review if we didn't have one of the staff screaming outside our room at the lovely receptionist lady, my 8 month old son had fallen asleep on our bed as he wasnt liking the porta cot and he got startled and rolled off onto the ground. I'm not sure why the man was yelling but it was quite intimidating, my partner said that everyone was looking out their window at our room as my son was so upset. Apart from that and the constant leak in our bathroom our stay was very enjoyable, lovely room, lovely staff and amazing views.
Fabulous room - on the end. Comfy bed, lots of light, quiet. One of the best setups was a mirror in the wardrobe and a hair dryer that you could use in conjunction with the mirror without having it set up in the bathroom. Heat pump and day time bathroom suction fan took a bit to use successfully but after a day we did manage fine.
Really friendly staff. I stayed their few times. It’s a really good hotel. Close to the Napier’s famous marine parade. Rooms are really nice and modern. Once I left my cell phone charger at the hotel room accidentally but once I rang them they quickly got my charger from lost /found section and shipped it back to me in Wellington without any charge
Top service & friendly, helpfbest hotel inNapier for location, friendly staff, and views. Thanks Katie and the Te Pania team
We were shouted here for me and my wife.
The rooms were clean, the view is amazing, opening the curtains and theres ocean spa and the magnificent ocean, we were lucky to get the very corner. Breakfast was provided we had scrambled eggs, bacon ,hash browns and a stir fry (caremilised onion, mushroom and potatoes) staff were very kind. Just bring Chromecast and chargers!!! 😂
Great location overlooking beach
Very reasonable
We spent a very enjoyable 3 days at this hotel. The staff are amazing and very helpful. The hotel has the best views in the bay, is in a great location, walking distance to everything. Across the road there is the beach, the promenade, pool, spa, bike hire with a kids playground just down the street. Napier has so much to offer!
Lovely hotel, situated on Marine Parade. Quick check in with good directions to my room.
Room was well appointed, with great views out over the ocean and the beach. Lots of nice touches, with high quality linen. Bed was super plush and comfortable.
Unfortunately it would have to rank as the worse sleep ever in a hotel. The doors slam shut, and it seemed there was a party going on in the rooms further down the hallway. More of a people problem then a hotel problem, but it made sleeping impossible. It was hard to diagnose which room it was coming from, due to a large and noisy conditioning unit in the hallway that obliterated all sound in. It was only in my room that you could hear the commotion going on. Swear I would start to drift off, and people would start knocking on doors, playing music and just generally being a pain!
Reception were extremely helpful, with a guy bringing me a key to a different room at 1am. I was able to leave my gear where it was, and head down to the new room to get some sleep. New room was very quiet, and the couple of hours sleep I got before my early flight were very restful.
Apart from the noise, the only other complaint was that the TV and Heatpump remotes both had flat batteries, hardly the end of the world though.
I would definitely stay here again, the beds are super comfortable, good bathroom and beautiful views out over the Pacific. Staff are very attentive and helpful. Hope next time there isn't a party going on next door, and I can get a decent sleep!
One improvement could be adjusting the doors so they dont slam shut, as they will wake you up!
Went down for a weekend getaway with the kids. Great location - very short walk into CBD, hot pools across the road and other attractions nearby.
The staff at Te Pania were amazing - very friendly and accommodating. A special thank you to the duty manager Manish for making our stay relaxing and stress free.
Beautiful room overlooking the ocean...central to centre and restaurants
Great Stay, really appreciate the Customer Service from Alison whom, me us feel welcomed when our room wasn't ready and helped make the stay memorable with a room on the 6th Floor overlooking the Shoreline on Marine Parade.. Great Hospitality provided by Alison provided refreshments while we waited for our room to be ready.. Alison deserves recognition for her outstanding Customer Service. Hotel is very central to the Township, and all amenities are close walking distance.. will definately stay there again..
This is a lovely sea front hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It also has washing facilities which is very handy if you are on a longer break.
We visited on the 25th August. We had arranged with your staff for a cot, on arrival a cot was made up for us which we appreciated. Our room was well turned out, some sort of residue on the bathroom floor and door handle. Overall it was nice, staff were great. View was great and handy to town and attractions.
We stayed two nights. The Curve staff were very efficient and friendly.
Unfortunately we were disappointed in the room service. For our second day I was left with no make up remover sachet, the plunger coffee sachet was also not replaced and I had left coffee in the plunger as I was not sure if the granules were to be washed down the sink. When returning to our room, the plunger had not been emptied.
Small details but disappointing.
We were given brilliant service. Check-in was a breeze and having a wee dog was no problem. There was dog bowls in the room and even offered a dog bed but we had brought our own crate. All staff friendly and professional. Would not hesitate to recommend or return
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Napier. It was close to the city centre and Marine Parade and the beach.;Our bed was comfortable which is always a plus. We loved the view from the hotel. It was a very easy place to stay. There was many car parking spaces to choose from. The wifi was fast. An easy walk into the city to find great food places. Fantastic location.
Hotel location : very central, all places of interests are within walking distance.
Great water view on the fifth floor, where we stayed. Very relaxing looking out the window to the water view while having breakfast in the room!
Very friendly staff service 👏👏
Location was great, but was disappointed to find wads of hair under the bathmat and bathroom amenities not replenished during our stay - tissues etc. The beds were comfy but so short and small. For the price per night this represented average value for money and wouldn't return
From check in to check out, the whole experience was an extremely pleasant one. Have no hesitation in highly recommending Scenic Hotel Napier. Lovely friendly informed staff. And couldn't fault the dinner or breakfast either. I'll be back!!
Overall we found the hotel to be very nice and the staff helpful. We booked the 'dog' room as we were travelling with our dog Louie. The room was clean and tidy and the facilities generally satisfactory. One point that the hotel should consider is that it is very difficult to find places to eat with a dog. Therefore it might be a nice idea if the hotel had had chairs and tables set out on the terrace (perhaps with a patio heater given that it was around 12 degrees!) so that we could have had breakfast, lunch or an evening meal at the hotel. A missed opportunity perhaps?
Excellent location, all rooms are big , comfortable and have sea views. Staff are so helpful, friendly and obliging.Rahul & Shavian gave excellent service and were so friendly. Thank you to the Management for the voucher and biscuits on my birthday, much appreciated.
We stayed and dined at the Scenic Hotel Te Pania. They have lovely staff and we had a nice room – plus we enjoyed great food in their restaurant. The hotel is just over the road from the beach and at the top of Napier is within easy walking distance of the fascinating art deco buildings that constitute this happy town. A great place to stay in Napier.
Great place to explore the Napier valley. Centrally located, ample free parking, great rooms and amenities. Only minor downside there is some road noise which was mildly distracting.
Really nice meal. Family choose this hotel because it is a favourite one to stay at. Coffee is fine too.
Another day, another stay and the reception service was excellent. Thank you for remembering to deliver my parcel so efficiently. November 2021
Disappointing. Te Pania is surposed to be premium accommodation. My room was close to the lift, unfortunately and was very noisy due to the hard floor surface you can hear the bell of the lift button through to all the comings and goings. Especially the room service trolley. I got to my room late so too late to try and move rooms. The meal was also disappointing. Very Average quality. Very good service but that doesn't help with noise or food quality. Wouldn't hurry back. Such a shame for a lovely place in a lovely place.
Hotel was very clean..wonderful view of the sea. The only thing that I felt was the whole Hotel looks tired. Apart from that a pleasant stay.
Would stay again. Comfy beds, good location. House staff were really nice. There is a restaurant there, but didn't use it so can't comment on that other than it smelt amazing
Great friendly staff, lovely clean room with fabulous view and lovely opening window. Little disappointed with dried fruit and nuts on room service cheese platter tasted stale. Local produce a nice touch. Hawkes bay water came out the tap disturbingly brown. Would use this hotel again and recommend.
Was great, apart from the shower being broken 😅 that staff didn’t even notify us about. Love the buffet!
Wow!!! Wonderful hotel, rooms, views amazing & location, staff were lovley & welcoming , friendly all.the time, lots of smiles! Parking too!
During our New Zealand tour we stayed here for one night. The check in was ok. The room and toilet were clean .. The staff was friendly and helpful. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was good. The stay without complaints. Good location a few meters from Hawke Bay. However, the car noise from the Marine Parade in the early morning was a bit annoying.
We had a lovely time at Scenic Hotel Te Pania. Great location, easy to walk to everything around Napier, including the Aquarium, restaurants and shops. Very clean, great view and amazing staff. The team were more than happy to help with anything we needed.
Had an excellent stay. The hotel is clean and modern. Great view of the beach and ocean. Staff were friendly. The breakfast is really good. Will definitely stay again.
Great room and great view! Wonderful location, close to lots of restaurants, could walk across the street to the sea shore. Well appointed rooms and well maintained. Lucky to get a room on the top floor with a great view of the sea. We could watch beautiful sunrise right from our bed!
We decided to spend a three day mini break in Napier ( even though we live there). What a great experience. The hotel was perfect, fabulous views and we watched the world go by. Wandered out to dine and explored places that I had not been before. Loved it.
I have just had the most amazing serivce here today, arrived early without booking, but they checked me in and let me park for the day collecting room key this afternoon. I fancied a Chamomile tea which wasnt in my room so asked at front desk. Alison went out of her way to find some on site but after an extensive search was unable to help BUT i so appreciated her effort. It would have been so easy to just say NO, but she made the effort to try and help and service like this is priceless and made all the difference to my stay. Thank you!
Following on from my stay in March i stayed again at the start of April, again nothing to fault here, friendly staff at check in, room immaculate and with Chamomile tea in the room too! Easy check out the next morning, just perfect! Will be back again soo :-)
Rooms where amazing and clean. Love getting a bottle of milk in the room not UHT milk. Shower pressure was excellent! The Chips at the bar was an excellent touch. Breakfast was great, staff where helpful and only wanted to please us!
We were staying in Napier at the Senic Te Pania when cyclone Gabrielle arrived. The hotel gave us a safe place to be with destruction all around the Hawkes Bay region occurring. The staff did a fantastic job and arranged for a portable generator to keep the kitchen running...great work and good preparedness, someone had obviously been doing some risk assessment and forward planning.
Beautiful accomodation and the location is perfect.
Amazing views from our room on the fourth floor. Excellent staff who were very helpful with all our queries. Really central and easy walking to many great attractions and restaurants. Will be booking in a stay next time!
Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms were very clean and tidy, amazing views and the beds felt like you were sleeping on a cloud.
Currently staying at Scenic TePania with NZ Tour Group and had Xmas buffet lunch.
Being on road for years and this was without question in top 2buffets I have ever experienced.
Credit to staff for quality, presentation, and flavour.
Great job TePania you should be proud of what you are delivering!
Dave T
Great rooms. Love the view and how the window opens so you can get fresh air.. Staff were all excellent, very friendly and helpful.
Very easy location for walking to great restaurants and shops. Wouldn't have liked to stayed on the two lower floors for privacy's sake. Higher floor rooms have a superb view of the water. All n' all a really great stay.
Handy spot to stay in Napier. Great sea views from all rooms with Ocean Spa pools and gym opposite. Had to find out for ourselves that hotel guest have complimentary entry to the gym facilities. Hopefully this has now been added to the room compendiums. Disappointed with breakfast buffet as hot food was barely luke warm. When ordering from the breakfast menu be prepared to wait a ridiculous amount of time for your meal. Response from the owner a day ago
Thank you for your feedback Ms Main. I researched your visit and found you stayed on the night that the Hotel was 100% with a full check out at breakfast, hence the wait. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your experience.
kind regards
kerryann
We stayed 5 nights and breakfast was luke warm everyday. We advised the staff about the buffet on our second morning. The breakfast meal was ordered by a colleague on the third day of their stay. Really sorry that you were 100% booked and didn't put more staff on. Please take this constructively as your staff are lovely, your guest would prefer hot meals so perhaps your chefs can look into this. Thanks
The room was nice and warm, the beds were comfortable, the pressure in the shower was amazing and the customer service was top notch. Thanks for an awesome weekend
Love this place. Great people and hospitality. Every room has an ocean view, so you can meet the sunrise. The location can't be beat. The hot pools are just across the street, so you can walk for a swim in your bathrobe from your room.
An initial hiccup with the rooms(two booked) which very quickly fixed by staff. The staff are friendly and accommodating.
Very pleasant stay.nice rooms and great view.clean and very friendly and helpful staff especially young blond man with glasses and scandinavian?accent! One elevator didn't work and one was used by cleaning staff so waiting. I had to use stairs to get my coffee, never mind minor inconvinience.overall great stay will come back when in Napier.
Great location, excellent room and facilities. Was disappointed to find half eaten food in the freezer and to find that the milk had already been opened by a previous guest. I did not call room service but did mention this at the time of check-out.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff. Good location, we chose it as great location during for our road trip.
What an awesome location with all the rooms looking out to the ocean and only 5 mins walk to the center of town. Especially enjoyed the fact that the windows slide open letting in some fresh air. Rooms where large and clean with a comfy bed. Highly recommend a visit.
Rooms were very clean and functional. The food was good and Te Pania big was excellent 👌 I highly recommend this breakfast option. Location wasn't that far from town. Customer service was good.
Stayed in 2 bedroom suite on 6th floor, a great set up. Basically three interconnecting rooms with Master bedroom on the corner with the best views, Lounge room in the middle with kitchette & 2nd bedroom with two doubles on the end. All had great views over Marine Parade , beach - ocean & with three bathrooms , three Tvs ,a great setup for families. Friendly & helpful front desk staff. If there was one niggle, TV1 reception wasn’t too flash but that might be beyond their control
We AGAIN, recently stayed at Te Pania (Napier) in the “Dog Friendly “ Room
This was our 4th stay with this fantastic Motel.
We had to book in a rush due to circumstances, and were excited to be able to book the "Dog-Room" plus next door for our extra guest.
Roxy, our Rottweiler X, knew exactly which room we were heading to.
She rushed to the door and was sniffing in anticipation.
Again, as we entered, i(MIDNIGHT), t was refreshing to have the Air-Con already on, and her bed and water (Snacks included) waiting for her.
This kind of detail sets Te Pania apart from anywhere we have stayed.
The room is situated on the ground floor, at the end of the hallway, giving privacy and respect for fellow guests.
The ranch sliders open directly onto the green grass and further to Marine Parade, and beach across the road.
Perfect for those early morning Fur baby walks.
Added bonus, buffet breakfast for the humans.
This motel is all class.
The staff are understanding, and pet-smart.
We would definitely recommend this motel for your Dog Friendly stay.
Be advised, the people here are great, and understand just what it means to be able to supply such a service.
Great Motel, great staff.

Lovely hotel, very good service and staff. Lovely views from the windows
Room is nice. Location perfect. Food is great. Front desk staff could smile a bit more and be a bit more welcoming. But overall a great hotel.
Excellent location, lovely room with a great view and friendly service - what more do you want
The in house restaurant is incredible! Food is nothing short of superb. Well done.
Reception staff, with the exception of Paul the Englishman, could perhaps smile.😊
Other than that a easy, quality and affordable good hotel.
Great service clean room very comfortable bed loved the views.
Highly recommend having cooked buffet breakfast. Highly recommend staying.
Lthank you
Great location and service. It was quiet and private, but I'm not sure if that was because of the red traffic light covid situation or not.
Loved how every room got a view of the sea.
Stayed here numerous times. The hotel is so lovely clean, great staff, and amazing views from the rooms. I was so happy they have upgraded the TV’s!
Scenic Hotel Te Pania is a fabulous hotel, wonderful friendly staff, perfectly located within strolling distance to shops, restaurants, Sunday market, awesome sea views, excellent amenities (free WIFI, large TV, comfortable beds, air conditioning for hot or cold, off street parking, secure lock up location for bikes), onsite restaurant and bar, clean and nicely furbished rooms. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.
View is amazing, sea view . The location is wonderful. There are plenty of good restaurants around plus walk to super market around 15 mind, walk to beach only 5 mins, the room is not too big price is reasonable but very clean. The car parking is easy access. It’s a amazing place to stay. The swimming pool is 2 mins away from this hotel. VH
Te Pania Scenic Hotel Napier was ideally situated with a good carpark just outside the door and within easy, short walks to the city and the beautiful esplanade. The view from our room on the 5th floor was fantastic and looked out over the esplanade and ocean. The room was very clean, large and airy with the added bonus of being able to open the large window and also having a very efficient air conditioning/heat pump.
We had a really comfortable stay over three nights. Enjoyed the sea view from the room. The restaurant and bar staff were particularly attentive, polite and helpful.
Beautiful view of the sea across the road from where we stayed, was nice and cool, big open windows you can leave open all night if your on the top floor, service was excellent, rooms were to our satisfaction loved our stay
This hotel was extremely helpful in all aspects of my stay. From helping with collecting a race pack for the Hawks Bay Marathon as I couldn't make it in time to friendly advice on where to go for dinner. Highly recommend
Great place to stay! Clean rooms, we were blessed with a fantastic ocean view! Fantastic restaurant inside. Fish and Chips the BEST I have ever had! Thank You
Great location! The rooms are starting to date a little and due for some upgrades but it’s well priced for the city centre.
A great hotel with the best location!!!
The room had an amazing view and was a really good size. The location of the hotel was excellent.
Fabulous service from Tessa on reception who went above and beyond to help track down my delayed luggage and appeared genuinely stoked to help; many thanks once again.
View from our room is great. Staff from reception and from the restaurant are very helpful. Rooms are dusty and not being cleaned well.
Excellent stay over a couple of nights. Friendly staff, stunning views over the beach, great location. Would definitely stay again.
Very comfortable, rooms and bathrooms well appointed, lovely sea view from upper floors, friendly helpful staff, well sited close to town
Great room. Massive bed. Awesome view. Air con was a saviour. Awesome breakfast choices. Friendly staff. Great night away from reality.
Lovely room and enjoyed the bath and robes. Great location across from the Convention Centre and Ocean Spa. Left the car in the car park and walked to cafes and restaurants for brunch and dinner :0
Very helpful staff. Room had a lovely view. Very central could walk everywhere. Would definitely come Bach.
A great location, clean friendly and helpful
Room had (like all rooms) a beautiful view of the sea. The bathroom was rather old. The hotel was noisy. You could hear doors slamming in the room. TV programs were thin. Location is good.
Nice hotel in a good location, can be a little noisy with the road passing in front, decent and clean rooms. Attentive staff. Good food and possibility of having a very decent breakfast. Perfect for 2 or 3 days.
The room is clean, spacious and bright. The beach is across the road from the hotel 👍
Convenient hotel for hiking.
Little isolated from noise. HS Jacuzzi. Decent restaurant.
Great location, very beautiful architecture, right in the city. Very good big breakfast. Very friendly staff, except for one or two waitresses who looked quite overwhelmed and reacted annoyed. But super friendly at reception. Napier is easy to explore on foot. Free parking behind the hotel, alternative to the ArtGallery car park is possible.
We spent one night here and have to say it was very good. The room was very large, the bathroom was very spacious and everything was clean. Reception and service were very good.
The help afterwards with our passports was first class and we would like to thank you again for that.
Kind regards
We stayed 1 night in this hotel during our honeymoon. Very kind receptionist, large room with every comfort and ocean view. Located in an excellent position, in fact we arrived late in the evening to leave the next morning, and we were able to tour the city very quickly thanks to the central location. The hotel has convenient parking. We didn't have breakfast included but there are many bars in the centre. Even though it was low season in July, Napier is a lovely place, the architectural style is fascinating to me, it's all really beautiful from the 1930s. A quick lap is definitely worth it.
When we arrived late in the morning, our room wasn't ready yet, so we received an upgrade with a separate living room for the 1.5 hour wait. The hotel is located right on the Marine Pradade and every room has direct sea views. It is just a few steps on foot to the Art Deco city center. We used the breakfast buffet, which didn't have a huge selection, but was absolutely sufficient. As soon as we were seated we were offered coffee and fresh toast. Table service was generally very quick, friendly and attentive.|Highly recommended!
Good location in downtown Napier. Good free parking in the back yard, even for our motorhome. Rooms modernly furnished. View from our room on the sixth floor was very good.|Staff friendly and helpful.|Checkout time 10am very early.|Negative point is the breakfast, for 25 NZD it should include coffee from the real coffee machine and not the flabby filter coffee.
We arrived in the evening so the sun had already set. Very nice, comfortable room with all the expected amenities. In the morning, the sea view was magnificent. The breakfast was varied but there was a charge for espresso coffee!!🤔
Nothing to say about this ideally located hotel. |Prefer rooms on the upper floor for the view. ||It's a standard category hotel so it's true that the bathrooms need updating but hey.. |It's perfect value for money. ||Ah yes just one thing, I think we should review the choices offered at breakfast.
....late September is not the best time to go to Napier. It is a seaside place and as such we should wait for the good season. Despite everything, the hotel is beautiful and the view we had from the room was truly fabulous. However, take dinner outside as well as breakfast because in the area there are certainly interesting places to try something good!
We stayed in this hotel one night during our honeymoon and were immediately impressed by the kindness and helpfulness of the staff of this property!||The service at the reception is truly one of the best we have ever experienced!||The property is presented in excellent condition, with large and very clean rooms; the location is a stone's throw from the sea and close to the center of Napier.||Free Wi-Fi throughout the entire hotel and ample parking for guests.||The breakfast was truly excellent quality and with truly generous portions (from try the pancakes with banana and bacon)!
When I started looking for hotels in Napier I was unsure about the best location to stay... I ended up choosing this hotel as it seemed to be newer than others in the same category. The choice was perfect! All rooms have a view of the Ocean and what a view!! The location is great, as you can walk to the center! And right in front of the hotel there is a place to rent a bike and enjoy all the cycle paths and trails in Napier!|
We spent one night in this hotel with a sea view, very well appointed with all the necessary comfort. We have never been disappointed with Scenic group hotels until now. Very friendly welcome, we did not try the meals at the hotel. Free parking available.
We would be warmly welcomed and instructed. Free parking behind the house.||We had a great view of the sea from the 5th floor. If you want, you can also put yourself in the scene, as there is a good view of the rooms from the outside.
Good hotel, nice view, good rooms but inadequate breakfast. No cheese, no sausage, poor selection of bread and jam, lukewarm coffee from a pump pot 🫣.
Built in a semicircle in 2003, it is a six-story hotel with 100 rooms, all facing the beach. Medium-sized rooms, simple, comfortable decor, reasonable closets, they even fit clothes! It has a large, glass-enclosed restaurant with a bar counter with wines, beers and snacks. It's a shame that, like everything else in the city, it closes before eleven o'clock...
All rooms overlook the sea, where we can see the beautiful sunrise. Room with carpet, super cozy and with a large bed.|Located in the center and facing the beach. There is parking and the wi-fi works well.
Used when traveling. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't very good, but the room faced the sea and had a large window, so I had a very comfortable stay at the hotel. I ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant on the first floor, and it was very delicious and I was very satisfied. They had manuka honey amenities, which was pretty good.
The hotel enjoys an excellent location, facing the sea and directly in the centre.|Simple but comfortable rooms, friendly staff. Good breakfast.|If you are passing through Napier I recommend it.|The town is very pretty and if you are in the area it is worth a visit.
Very comfortable room. With everything you need to spend a few nights. Good service, very clean.
The hotel parking lot is small. It is very close to the shopping center on foot, as well as the gardens and the beach.
I would recommend it.
A hotel along Marine Parade with a great view of the ocean. The view from the window is nice. There is a bathtub. The facilities are new, clean and comfortable. There is an elevator. The hotel is within walking distance from the city center. There is also a good restaurant within the hotel.
Beautifully located, separated from the sea only by the road. You can walk into the city in just a few minutes. Modern and elegantly furnished. Good breakfast and nice staff. Parking directly behind the hotel.
