It is very unique and interesting place for gelato. Nice and a little bit old style but quite enjoyable place. Many kind of flavors and reasonable price. Nice taste. Highly recommended for dessert break.

There is something there for everyone. You can find your classic flavors, as well as a selection of unique combinations. Packed with flavor. I'll keep then in mind for the next trip. Friendly service.

We go here regularly and love the constant turnover of flavours. I love that they keep the staples the same but regularly are popping up with something new. The fact that there are dairy free flavours is also amazing. There are very few shops with so much flavour on display for those with allergies

Fantastic little place. The 3 young ladies working were great, appeared to be having a good time working there too which is nice. Had 2 coffees each made by different people and were delicious. Ice cream was nice. But what made it an absolute life saver is the staff helped me out with getting my phone charged up. It was about to die when scanning my pass and they offered to charge it up while my friend and I had a catch up. The playlist was also top notch. Forgot to ask if its Spotify shareable. Hope it is 😂

Used to here with my old border collie, Janis, she used to love it there. My favorite flavor is yogi bear, they somehow make yoghurt based ice creams taste AMAZING. I always come every month or so, my daughter Caroline is also a big fan. Would definitely recommend, best gelato in town.

Great flavours, they seem to have about 10 regular flavours and do two or three seasonal ones. Enjoyed my pomegranate and berry - not too sweet and my husband really liked the gingerbread gelato. So nice to sit on New Regent Street and take in the wonderful atmosphere!

Incredibly delicious. The quality of the cream is the best I have ever tasted. Smooth, silky, sweet, fresh cream. Vanilla bean. This is almost a sacred experience. There is always a line leading to the outside to receive their orders. I want to know why. If possible, I will give this ice cream shop ten stars.

Icecream shows its true excellence in vanilla, and this is damn fine vanilla icecream! Love love love. Our standard dessert, a cone on the walk home, after dinner out in the city centre.

Such a cool wee place delicious flavours and lovely staff just wish people wouldn't be so lazy and toss their own rubbish out in the bin that's less than a meter from where they're sitting but that's not on rollicking themselves just a general statement. Rollicking is really lovely as a treat

They have a really good selection and I really enjoyed my cookies and cream of sorts. It was smooth and not too sweet. However, there's nothing really unique about the shop nor the ice cream to warrant another visit, but I guess it helps when there are not much after hours dessert option. The queue was long but it moved fast, which was a plus point.

Super cute ice creamery with friendly staff, fun tunes and a cute courtyard in the back. Flavours are interesting and varied, ice cream and smooth and decadent. Prices are ok too! The berry and pomegranate one is sweet is refreshing on a hot day. The strawberry flavoured one is also great!

Great, but extremely expensive ice cream ($5.5 per scoop). I ordered 2 scoops: Banana's for Mace and my girlfriend ordered Salty Caramel. I personally dislike the Salty Caramel but my girlfriend seemed to really dig it. Banana's for Mace was really good, although the coffee stole all the flavor so you really couldn't taste the bananas, which was really ironic. There is indoor seating and there are free pitchers of water flavored with cut oranges which you can use to pour yourself a glass of water. There is no WiFi.

I came here from Sydney, Australia and stumbled across this place. For the sydneysiders, I would say it's similar to gelato Messina so you know it's going to be good! Great gelatos and love the friendly service! They were out of the gelato I wanted but they were happy to recommend another option that was somewhat close to what I initially wanted. Plenty of seating with room upstairs and loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend this place.

Delicious ice cream right in the heart of Christchurch city. Loved the 'caked on and tarty' (reminded me of the Ben's and Jerry's strawberry cheesecake ice cream) and the Superman dark chocolate ice cream! Ask for cone serve - seems to be more generous in the cone serving. $5 for one scoop. $8.50 for two and $10.50 for three scoops. :)

Visiting Rollickin on a Friday night, with the amount of fresh-faced teenagers giddily lined up for their sugar-rush it felt a little like walking into a daycare! Demographics aside the reason for its popularity was obvious. A sweet array of delicious gelato was presented in a funky, stripped-down interior with plenty of outdoor seating for summer dining. On this occasion I sampled one of their mug-cakes with gelato, enjoying a coffee with my friend who ordered the hot chocolate. The staff at this hour seemed a little harried, many of the flavors seeming to be running dry or low. When eventually I got to order, the drink and the dessert took a fair while to arrive. My coffee was thin and under-extracted, a miss rather than a hit; but the cake was thankfully moist, very often mug cakes can be dry and stodge, but the berry gelato on top lifted it nicely. My friend enjoyed his hot chocolate with some fudgy marshmallows served on the side, but there was a lack of sparkle or wow to our dessert experience.

It used to be a great place. The coffee stills is really good, but the ice cream is not half of what it used to be, speaking of variety of flavours, scoop size and certainly overpriced. There is good atmosphere and you can get a coffee when it's late. I would encourage them to go back to what you used to be regarding the ice cream.

Yum! We got sorbet and Gelato, both were delicious. There was a decent line when we got there, but it moved fast. There's some seating outside, but it was fairly full, you could wander around and check out the city though. The only thing that almost keeps me from 5 stars is the price - $23 for 4 singles is a bit much for us...and then factor in parking. But it's so well loved and sought after they can charge what they want. 😀 The staff were lovely and we did leave a tip of our change. Will go back sometime for a special treat.

Fantastic range of flavours available, with an ever changing choice to keep you coming back. Expect a queue in the evenings, but there's plenty of seating available outside, with blankets to keep you warm in winter. Alternatively, take a stroll along the newly completed Avon River Precinct.

Wow what a place, walked down the regent street area and saw this queue. Had dinner and the queue was still there, had to line up and try it. They have blankets outside to keep you warm if eating outside, seats on the ground floor and more seating upstairs. You taste the flavors if you want or just jump in. Different flavors come and go with either current events, or dates like Valentine's day. Available in either a waffle cone or a tub. You have to give it a go when in town.

Gelato looks amazing with great and wide ranging selection. Staff wasn't particularly friendly and hence the one star missng. It wasn't even a busy time of a week day, which was a bit disappointing. Outdoor seatings available, with only one sofa for indoor seating. It is located towards the end of the street close to new development.

Got a fantastic double scoop with gingerbread and nut-ivity. However, disaster struck when the scoops toppled from their tower and dived for the ground. Heartbroken, I returned to buy another, but the lovely staff gave me a new one for free. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ❤️

Great flavour selection with new flavours rotating through every few months or so! The staff are always super friendly and answer any questions you may have! They also have great dairy free options as well as pastries or warm beverages. They do also on occasion do Mug Cakes, Cinnamon Buns and brownies that are often accompanied with a scoop of ice cream! So worth the visit and snap a pic with their famous Gorilla!

It was a busy Friday night but we still scored ourselves a seat upstairs by the window. My scoop of pear ice cream was amazing, and my wife got the loaded hot chocolate which wowed us, would recommend it for two people though as it really is loaded!

We tried the the 3 scoops in a cup - hokey pokey, Superman dark chocolate and the mint. I'm normally a chocolate person but the mint icecream is one of the best icecream I've tasted. You can taste the actual mint, not just some flavouring or essence. Phonomenal! We also had the dark raspberry cake which was rich and nice but the mint icecream was definitely the standout.

So many choices and such a busy little place in summer the best thing is getting one of their Gelato's and arriving back at your work desk eating it on a hot afternoon. Both a walk in the heat and no one knew you got two and already ate one on the way back... Staff are pretty fast serving happy to let you sample if not sure and trying to get back out past everyone with a Gelato can be tricky as people pack in. Oh and a Gorilla too.

The gelato is really tasty here, however on several occasions now I have asked for one flavour only to be given a completely different one. Either this or I have had to stop one of the staff scooping the wrong flavour. If it was just the one time that would be fine, but it has been consistently wrong.

I can't lie when I say best Ice Cream Place in Christchurch. Recommended by a friend who has gone there before. Ideal location if you're just getting off the tram and wonderful upstairs. When you're upstairs there is a wonderful view of New Regent Street. Great Flavours and I hope they get a lot more customers in the time to come!

I've travelled from the top of North Island to the bottom of South Island and this is honestly the best gelato I've had in New Zealand! Had a scoop each of the lemongrass and yoghurt, watermelon & mint and the lemon, lime & bitters - genius! Really delicious and original flavours. Tasty Hokey Pokey ice cream I went there twice, I recommend you to eat Hokey Pokey ice cream. The taste was really nice. The price was not so bad. 1scoop 5 dollars. In the shop,I could try some flavors. The staff was so kind. But the shop was really small. So I had to eat it outside.I went there in winter so it was very cold. But I think it's good to eat outside in summer.

Awesome gelato and sorbet!! Came back two nights in a row! Tried the superman dark choc, mint choc, hokey pokey, study breaker, salted caramel, lemon lime & bitters sorbet - all were awesome! My favourites are the lemon lime and bitters sorbet, mint and superman dark choc. Reasonably priced considering how good the ice cream is - 8.50 for 2 scoops and 10.50 for 3. 2.75% credit card surcharge.

Good and Tasty. Friendly staff. Indoor and outdoor seating. Large Orangutan to help people find the place easily. There is sometimes a queue for the ice cream. Be prepared to wait while nearly everybody asks what Hokey Pokey is. Salted caramel brownie is very nice, they will ask if you want it heated up and with cream which makes it even tastier.

$5 for a measly scoop is a ripoff! The first time my scoop was decent, but the following day I balked at what I had been served. The Gerry Brownie is a great idea, but again, well and truly overpriced considering you're basically paying for both brownie and your chosen topping at normal individual prices, then getting charged for a dollop of supermarket whipped cream and chocolate topping on top. At the most this should be just $10. But there's no denying the ice cream and gelato flavours are FANTASTIC! Oh and the cinnamon buns - they are to die for! We had to come back a third time for those beauties of baking!!!

Best little Gelato Shop in Christchurch by far, This wee gem has delicious gelato and is great for a short family trip. Limited but unique flavors of Gelato. They make it all themselves included melted chocolate!!. Seating is limited because its always full of people, and the nice looking building and vibe makes up for that.. The iconic rollickin, SOOOOO GOOOD, I had the superman choc ice cream, with the yogi bear, I know weird combo but was delish (I also realized after that the yogi bear was a yogurt ice cream haha I was a bit slow to catch on) super creamy and yum, perfect snack, it wasn't even busy because it was a Monday arvo! The staff were so friendly and kind and funny! ALSO GREAAAAT MUSIC and atmosphere! Pictured is actually the strawberry one, super sweet and fruity, we needed to have more scoop of something refreshing!!

First time coming to Rollickin today, the entire experience was extraordinary. The gelato was the best we’ve ever had which was complimented by excellent customer service. We were served by superstar Emily who was extremely accommodating towards us and the kids and made sure we had all the options available to make an informed decision. The brownie was definitely a favourite and I will be recoomending that and the New Regent store to everyone. Eleventymillion/10 and a thousand and one/10 from the kids and I think they’re bang on the money

A recommendation from my cousin, who is a Christchurch local, brought us to exploring New Regent Street and trying out Rollickin Gelato. I was pretty excited to try it out, especially after seeing the long queue waiting to get their hands on some tasty iced treats. Even though there was a crowd, and it was a clear tourist hot spot, I loved the community feel upon entering the little shop with the hand drawn A4 signs depicting the really funky menu, and the signage regarding the fundraising for various aspects of the community. The gelato flavours are so fun! We found a brownie take, one with anzac cookie, something with lemon and the Kiwi classic - the Hokey Pokey! Staff is here lovely, and they are super helpful with the decision making too. If in town, I highly recommend checking out the delicious treats at Rollickin!
