J.This is my first time taking ice cream from them. We went there on Sunday afternoon, there was some people waiting before us but we didn't wait long. Fast service, friendly and tasty ice cream. I would recommend to my friends.
U.we stopped by to grab some ice cream for kids after dinner last night as we found that place quite attractive alongwith a long queue outside .many unique favours to choose from but unfortunately there were just a few flavours that were halal safe. but we thoroughly enjoyed the taste !!!!
B.We stopped by after dinner to grab some ice cream. We weren't sure of which flavours to try so we opted to share a flight, servers choice of eight scoops of ice cream. We were lucky enough to get a table while we scoffed it all down. The sticky rice one is very unique and has a nice salty coconut flavour. The toasted marshmallow one was also quite nice. We were there quite late but weren't rush out even though they were cleaning. a really nice place to stop by for some sweet and tasty dessert.
V.A small place but always full. The line was omg with everyone wanting to try the numerous amount of flavors . The toasted coconut choc ice cream was my fave together with white choc raspberry and macadamia. The staff were very nice and friendly in terms of helping with flavors and they moved the lines very quickly.
This was my first visit to this place, ill def be back for more.
J.First timer tonight. Great store, staff were friendly, helpful and safe. They she lots of dairy free options and a delicious handmade gf cone! Very impressed. And the prices were so reasonable. Would go again.

R.Ice cream was delicious and reasonably priced too. Unfortunately the texture was watery so the ice cream melted very quickly. Also, prices aren't listed on the website and no response to message request for a price list or a menu (We're a family on a budget and I like to have an idea of the cost of an outing before going.) The store was clean and tidy but some of the flavour titles on the glass were smudged off, so it wasn't clear what they were and which were vegan, df, gf etc. Overall though it was a delicious treat. Whoever created the 'Santa Snacks' flavour is a gastronomical genius, It was out of this world! So many chunks of carrot cake in it and i'm glad they weren't stingy with that! Keep up the great work Duck Island and we will be back to try some more of your wonderful flavours. Any chance you'll bring the custard square one back? haha!

F.Arguably the best icecream in the world. Unique flavour combinations, exceptionally high quality ingredients and a taste that's simply unmatched from the many ice creameries I've experienced. The Roasted White Chocolate and Miso is worth its weight in gold! Please open up a store here in Melbourne as nothing here compares - Gelato Messina, Pida Pippo and Piccolina get a huge hype but don't even come close.
K.For 5years I would drive past this ice cream parlour en route home to Rotorua & say I must stop in one day & just last week I did. With a delectable range of flavours to choose from, & the choice was hard, my only regret is not stopping here years sooner.
M.A little over-hyped. The range of options is more novel than most other ice cream places, so it's worth the stop.
G.An unreal ice cream shop! The flavours are inventive and original, containing some weird but none that I haven't liked. The prices are good as well and when you ask for a single you get 2 scoops for $5!! The staff are really nice too and even when it's busy I havnt waited long to get served. The only complaint is that it isn't closer to me :D
S.Fantastic place ice cream, come here a lot, but also ordered an ice cream cake for my Sons birthday. Had the smaller cake which was a great size with three different flavours. There was about 12 of us and perfect, solid heavy cake and the kids and adults loved it. As you can see it didn’t last long!

Staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful, the queue is always there but disappears at a very efficient rate considering the crazy number of options to scratch your head over.
Another plus for many people is that their list of vegan options tends to be around 8 or so, and trust me they're worth trying for non-vegans too 🙏🏻
I had a three flavour cup and all were exquisite, but the highlight this time had to be the colab with my favourite brewery Garage Project and the incredible Sour Peach Sorbet made from the White Mischief brew!

E.Coconut & Passion fruit ice cream is my favorite so good. Customer service is generally good but I have had a really rude server before beware of the pakeha tall lady with curly hair in her late 30s possibly older. I am not giving a 5 star because of that one rude server.
A.It's easy to see why this place is always busy! They have heaps of interesting and delicious flavours. They have some strange sounding combinations but don't be scared to try them, they're great at perfecting new flavours without forgetting how to nail the classics. The best part of it all are the Gluten Free and Diary Free options. They have a lot to choose from and the quality does not suffer without the dairy! 😍🥰 It's a little pricey, but so worth it on the occasions you want to treat yo'self 😂😋

Also they still do some simple flavours like vanilla bean if you are not into more exotic stuff like white chocoolate and miso or indulgent flavours like boysenberry cheesecake or peanutbut caramel cookie. AND you can take home a pint of their icecream - even choosing different flavours in the same pot - for $12!
H.Duck Island is always a good place to go to on a warm afternoon. With unique ice-cream flavours and a very gentle pastel aesthetic, it's no wonder why it's so popular.
While passing through, my friends and I thought we should go and pay a visit, good job we did. There was a larger range of flavours compared to my local Auckland store. The staff were super friendly and happy for me to sample multiple samples.
Scoops are very good value for your money.

A.Best ice cream in Hamilton and maybe New Zealand. They offer a wide range of flavours and some are very unique and questionable but if you are brave enough to give it a try I promise the taste and texture is excellent no matter which weird and wacky flavour you pick.

W.Hamilton is where Duck Island icecream started and even thought it's "recent" is fast became synonymous with things to do when you're here. Great ingredients, beautifully made, interesting and tasty flavours. 4 icecreams for around $30 - which I think is reasonable. Be nice to see a mini overhaul on the flavours but that's because I'm a regular, normally at least one new flavour.

Something for everyone, whether you like your icecream safe & classic, you're up for something new & inventive like an unlikely pairing, or even wild & adventurous. Duck Island offer cone or cup, or fancy-pants sundae & also boast a selection of sorbet AND dairy-free icecream.
Sitting beside the park & a stone's throw from the river path, it's a great place to catch up friends, finish a meal or go for a date.

V.I didnt enjoy my ice cream. I didnt like the texture. Not as creamy. I had smoky almond, maple , honey and hubby had a peanut butter caramel he said was alright.
I think some of the flavours and combinations just dont work for me personally.

Although at times there may be a small wait time for the ice cream, this is very reflective of the quality of the ice cream served in the shop, and as such it is worth the wait. The scoops are affordable and generous ($5.50) for one scoop, two flavours. There are also plenty of vegan and non vegan ice cream flavours. This store is definitely worth a visit.
B.Heaps of really unique ice cream flavours, although as someone who doesn't eat chocolate I was a bit disappointed that there weren't too many options. Ended up getting ambrosia and pulling out the choc chunks (it was a super yummy!).

M.Great if you like unique ice cream flavors. Good options for diary free customers. Wouldnt recommend for children unless they are used to unusual flavours. We have taken kids who just wanted cookies and cream or caramel, and were not happy with the 'weird' other flavours added to their favorites.
M.Great ice cream, great service. The servers are absolute troopers for the amount of pressure they're under on busy days, always managing to carry on and still maintain a consistent service level. Oh and did I mention the ice cream is amazing? Not your typical ice cream, they serve strange but delicious flavour combinations. Vegan/dairy free options made with coconut cream are also available. This place is definitely a great store to be proud of in our town.

M.Very good ice cream flavours, and you get two scoops if you like in two flavours in a "single" but the scoops are quite small. "The single" is couple dollars pricier than your dairy shop so fair enough. No pistachio flavour which is a real shame as I look for it in ice cream parlours as it's rare in NZ. Must go back to try some more!

There is good seating and more flavors, you will still find queues given the popularity of the place but well worth the 5 minute wait. New flavors are added all the time and favourites do remain. The option of buying a tub of your favourite flavour is there too.

They let you have 3 different flavours in a double which is awesome because there's so many flavours that it makes it 2 hard to choose. They customer service is awesome and their staff is very friendly. I would recommend duck Island ice-cream any day.
C.This is definitely a go to destination, even on a wet and windy afternoon. The suit-in area is nothing flash, although it's adequate. The icecream on the otherwise is heavenly. I had a double waffle cone with 3 flavours: sticky black rice, orange blossom and dark chocolate, and hibiscus and something else (can't remember exactly). Each flavour stupid or from the rest, but complimented the others. The sticky black rice flavour at the end had the same of effect as a cup of fragrant green tea capping off a meal.

B.Ice cream flavours we're an interesting mix but a bit overrated in my opinion. Out of the six or seven flavours we tried only two were good, being the white chocolate macadamia and the boysenberry cheesecake. The others weren't great. I'd be keen to come back and try more flavours though. Shop was very clean and the staff were very nice.

I can report with deep satisfaction that every lick of this tasty morsel is as good as the reviews say it is. Tasty, velvetty, rich, smooth, creamy, and oh-so-good.
You can not go to Kirikiriroa Hamilton and NOT experience this divine creation!
B.Awesome as per usual! Some staff are awesome, and some are a little less nice to interact with. But I guess I would be a bit meh after scooping ice cream all day for people who likely can't make up their mind! Theres so much variety and they all taste amazing so I can never choose.

J.The best ice-cream I've ever tasted! We always make a point to come here everytime we are in Hamilton. This place is always packed but don't be put off by the que, it does move quite quickly. The staffs are friendly, the flavours are amazing and the portions are extremely generous! You get to have a combination of two flavours for a single scoop, 3 flavours for a double and 4 flavours for a triple scoop! My favourite flavor of all time will have to be the peanut butter with chocolate flakes. Simply delicious!
m.i tried flight, 8 small scoops with waffle selected by a staff $12 ate all by myself! but two were not my favorite, should choose flavours carefully next time. Love all vegan base! Missing rocket coffee everytime
D.Some of the best ice cream in the region, if not the best. Unique flavors starting with coconut chocolate, to more interesting ones like roasted pear, or feijoa, or banana ash, or ginger bourbon, or Thai tea, or white chocolate macadamia pomegranate. You get the idea. Staff is friendly, and they have a frequent visitor program that's good too.

One young lady, who was lovely, up front, making ice-creams AND taking the money. There should have at least been one on money and one on ice-creams, with another available to make the sundaes out the back, or also make ice-creams if necessary. It took far too long, just unnecessarily!

Maybe cuz its such an unusual order or some order reason, she forgot about it. And when I showed up there, they ran out of it ( cuz its sooooooo damn goooood). Most other places would just leave it as is. But no...... Patricia literally drove all the way to Auckland at night the next freaking day to deliver it..... I mean What more can u ask for from a ice cream shop. Only ganna buy duck island ice cream from now on and reckon everyone should at least give it a shot, it is literally worth the drive from Auckland.

a.Service staff limited the amount of tasters we were allowed to have. Some of the flavours were local, but quite contrived and experimental. Textures were quite smooth but monotonous. Did not really fancy the whole experience.
