Stopped by here on the way from Keri Keri to Paihia. We were offered some free samples of the Macadamia Butter Toffee Crunch on arrival. It's quite good, so we got two boxes of it - completely worth it, even if a bit pricey. We will be enjoying that for some time, I think.

Great little shop, awesome to be able to see first hand the hard work that goes into making the treats, and helps us to understand the prices of the products as well. Was given a couple of samples on the way out also which was a lovely surprise

Been to Makana cafe many times. The food is consistently very good. The deserts are to die for delicious. They make their own ice-cream. The prices are regular. Lovely atmosphere and a beautiful garden. Highly recommended. P. S. Pop in next door to a chocolate shop for a delicious free sample.

Staff are friendly and courteous. Chef was very accommodating and knew the ingredients to the meals, as garlic and onion doesn't agree with us. Had the beef skewers to share, which was served in two plates. Not a fan of lemongrass, bit it was so shuttle that is was amazing. Beef skewers were tender and flavoured to perfection. Somewhat sticky rice was full of flavour and went well with the slightly curried peanut satay sauce. The hot chocolate is very good and we recommend having a 50/50 between milk and dark chocolate. The desserts are fantastic and a lot of effort is put into the the taste and creation. Tiramisu was fantastic, being soft, flavour some, with a few varieties of textures.

Nice place. Great selection of house made ice cream. Their macadamia brittle is one of the best. I got 4 boxes for gift and everyone loves it. When I went there last year was not impressed with savory dish because lack of consistency but except that it is always great place and love to visit

Bought the vanillas truffle... they were absolutely out of the gate, high quality chocolate melts in your mouth the packaging is to detail. At the cafe had the carrot cake, presentation was stoning but the cake was a bit dry and the icing too sweet

Beautiful shop with amazing chocolates. They give you a sample to try as you come in and more than happy to let you try an chocolate you are looking to purchase or try. You can also see them making the chocolates through a window. Go next door and get yourself a cake or ice cream, yum yum.

Ok now this place is one my of my fave places to visit when I head up north to see family or go on holiday. Their Very Berry Toffee Crunch is to die for 🤤😋 Staff are friendly, free samples are given on arrival, or if you ask they can help you out to try something before you buy it 😊 the shop itself is just beautiful to look around with the added bonus of watching the staff create these amazing chocolates through the glass window/wall is amazing 🥰 oh and they also sell their chocolates gift wrapped too, no extra charge 🤗

From 9:00 open is very nice for us to have breakfast at restaurant. They offer not only sweets also meals for breakfast or lunch. There are many tables inside and outside.But it could be busy around noon in weekend.

An interesting find in Kerikeri, the 4 stars is only because the chocs are quite pricey. The packets are roughly $20-$25 and contain 250g. The chocolate is delicious though. It is just opposite the Saturday market which was also worth a visit and then walk across the road to get some choc.

Absolutely beautiful complex. You can see how the handmade chocolates are made & have a sample. Exquisitely presented. Gift boxes come in so many sizes you could use the individual box for bonbonieri or wedding gift. The complimentary Makana coffee house with exquisite cakes, moccachino(real chocolate) & ice cream makes this a place one you must call in for coffee. A beautiful outdoor setting for lunch with the family.

Stopped in here and sampled the macadamia brittle which is absolutely amazing, would have purchased some but was quite pricey. Went next door to the cafe instead and got an ice cream sundae with macadamia brittle and chocolate orange flavour ice cream. Have had better sundaes, I would recommend just getting a cone of cup instead. Ice cream was nice enough but considering how delicious the macadamia brittle was, I expected the ice cream to be nicer - need more of the actual brittle maybe? Also got a brownie sandwich to take away - caramel sandwiched between brownies. Best thing about this stop was the macadamia brittle.

Makana is always a delight to be at. Firstly pop at the chocolate factory to see how the chocolate is made in house and to too it off you get greeted with a nice free sample. Then pop over next door to their cafe and honestly anything you try there from the cabinet will not disappoint. We usually pop in for their gelato and a nice buttery croissant for my 2 year old. A bit of everything for every age. Definitely a winner.

If your heart races when you discover a dairy with more than half a dozen flavours of tip top then this place is for you. Ice cream lovers paradise. It's pricey though so 4/5 stars. Egg savoury croissant $10 although it was prawn and smoked salmon. I had the roast chick pea salad. I'm not a veggie but it was lovely and I could then feel self righteous as I tucked into my trio of gelati dessert. This was only$9 for 3 bowlfuls and represents good vfm I think. Enjoy.

Good quality, mostly, and for the price. My daughter loves salted caramel, so chose their box in the factory. Turns out it is a box of caramel chocolates, with half a shaker of sea salt poured over the chocolates! Which makes it pretty inedible, and potentially poisonous! Ok, perhaps not but we had to buy her something else, and they didn't offer a discount. But other selections were decent, just suggest tasting everything before you buy, as they can take the deconstruction of flavors to the extreme.

Average, those who’s been to Greytown will understand what I mean. We got Irish cream truffles- there is no Irish cream taste in it. Another one we got was assorted fruit chocolate- half of them were not that great. For that price you’d better buy yourself a few packs of ferrero 🙂

The best chocolate cafe around! I had a trio of chocolate mousse and a tropical smoothie and they were both delicious! Friendly service and very well cleaned tables and bathrooms. A little pricey, but not bad for a boutique factory. Everything is made on site and as soon as you walk through the doors you are assaulted with the delicious scents of chocolate. Nearly everything is gluten-free, which was a fantastic find for myself. They also had a sizeable selection of sugar-free items, great for diabetics in the family. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, helping my husband and I find appropriate gifts for our family.

If this is not the best chocolate in New Zealand it's definitely top 3 the Macadamia bark alone is worth the 3 hour drive from Auckland. Honestly the fabulous Bay of Islands is a pleasant addition to you trip to Makana Chocolate.

The macadamia brittle is TO DIE FOR, and hands down my favourite! Iced chocolate was nice, but found most of the patisserie items to be very very rich. Great place for a treat, although some of the lunch items were ridicuously priced ie the flutes.

The chocolates are good but I was appalled by the service etiquette of the staff who wouldn't give an extra sample as they wanted the tray to last the whole day even though the guest bought 3 boxes. Also, it was a little boy asking for an extra sample, not an adult. It is as if they were rationing to 1 pc per person. This is a little poor given they have the chocolate manufacturing facility within the premises and there can't be any shortage of additional samples if and when needed. It reflects poorly on the management.

Nice place for coffee and any thing to do with chocolate and cakes. But don't go there for their food. Went with my wife her creamy mushrooms were to sour (had to much lemon juice) and my eggs did not have any flavor or seasoning.

We found this chocolate boutique on our drive. We had coffee & hot chocolate + shortbread in the cafe. Also, visited the factory next to the cafe, the patisserie Yulia friendlilly welcomed us and gave trial boysenberry panache which is amazingly delicious. We decided to buy a box of boysenberry panache. Apparently, the Newmarket branch in AKL isn't exist anymore.. definitely worth to visit here when you have a chance.

This is actually two places in one. The chocolate shop and factory has absolutely amazing chocolate, especially the chocolate covered toffee and the pinot noir truffles. The chocolate is expensive, but they give out free samples when you come into the shop so you can decide for yourself if its worth the splurge. We'd give the chocolate boutique five stars. The chocolate cafe was good but we probably won't go back. The treats we had were just too rich for our tastes. The coffee was pretty good. Pleasant interior. We'd give this three stars. For both we'll compromise at 4.

A good selection of Confectionary and opportunity to taste before you buy, but you have to be insistent - they don't let go of their little sample nibbles that easy you know! ...and they really should, considering their prices are on the high side. Wow - an oasis ... Indulgent chocolate fare, and a good selection of teas/coffees and incredible tasty 'ice-cream' range. Whole 'cakes ' made to perfection for special occasions or to take home/out as a treat! The 'fish bowl' full size window enables customers/clients to view the fully operational sweets/chocolate and creations kitchen. The cafe is set in park-like surroundings with well-spaced tables inside and outside. Comfy chairs and some art work make for an unrushed visit in addition to the more traditional table and seating arrangements. Very ample off-street parking. On-site toilet available. Pleasant, amicable and helpful team members.

A very extensive range of delicious chocolates. Slightly on the outskirts of the Kerikeri town centre, a good walk if you're feeling up for it. Chocolates can come beautifully gift wrapped also. Perfect for any occasion. The only wee minor issue that's preventing my review from being a five star is "customer service", specifically, the staff felt inconvenienced/bothered that I asked something to be gift wrapped. I asked incredibly nicely (smiles, please and thank you's and all) but my request was met with the item being snatched from my hands and paired with no verbal communication on her part. Maybe it was just her? At the end of the transaction with a different staff member, I asked for a plastic bag for the items as it was raining torrentially outside. Again, my very polite (and reasonable) request was met with a cold, unwelcomed vibe. It's a shame - being a major tourist attraction in the area, we want our international visitors to think Kiwis are polite and helpful. My experience was truly the opposite.
