K.Wonderful rooms with a ton of character. Very clean and tidy. Great meals too. The staff were great (every single one of them). Nothing was too much trouble. I really enjoyed sharing a bottle of wine in front of the fire. Would happily stay again.
A. D.Amazing lodge with beautifully rustic rooms, the previous owner's life project to build. We loved the rustic Swiss mountain charm and being on the mountain, it totally fits. Lovely hosts, too, and delicious food! We'll be back (so please do NOT tear it down!!)

D. R.Ordered coffee and pie from the lodge cafe, after visiting Dawson falls. Cafe was pretty quiet that afternoon, we thought it was already closed 😬 But the lady who greeted us was very friendly when she saw us, made really good coffee, and served amazing mince and cheese pie. The view of Mt Taranaki outside was a perfect addition to the experience ⛰
A. S.Very friendly service and a relaxed homely atmosphere in an awesome location. Beds super comfortable for a great nights sleep. Managers are very helpful. Food beautifully crafted and tasty. Great for vegetarians too. Bathrooms are being upgraded but the Swiss style decor is very in keeping with the location. Some great walks nearby. I'll be going again for a longer stay

M. M.Flowing up the road under the magnificent tree tunnels you get a sense of travelling to somewhere magical. Upon arrival you will find (if not hidden under cloud) a breath taking view of the upper mountain. New owners are updating the day core and is currently tastefully presented in a mixture of old and new. The three course menu has an option for most pallets with a taste and presentation that wouldn't look out of place in many of our top restaurants. The beds and linen are very comfortable and the rooms kept toasty and warm. Hospitality is very warm and homely where nothing seems to be a problem. Recommended for a quiet get away, to relax and unwind.
S. K.What an amazing place! It feels like a Swiss/Austrian/Bavarian mountain chalet.. amazing atmosphere and wonderful old rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the dinner was amazing as well. I would absolutely come back if I could.
F. C.Stayed here over Easter as a special getaway. Highly recommend having dinner here, good food and wine. Room was cosy, and you’re close to lots of mountain walks. They’ve got a really unique vibe, particularly the way the rooms are decorated. Lovely place to stay.

D. O.We paid quite a bit of money and expected a getaway with a nice dinner and a bottle of wine. However, just before dinner they said they did not have the manager on site so they could not serve alcohol. It came like complete news and no prior notice was given so we did not really have a choice but to stay there for dinner anyway. I felt it was disrespectful and not well handled. And the food tasted like it was warmed up in a microwave too. Disappointing.
K. F.The lodge is an undiscovered gem. The architecture is charming, the food delicious, the surroundings beautiful, and the people are unmatched in friendliness. Bernie is a warm and generous hostess. The vegetarian platter is superb for vegetarians or vegans, each dish distinctive and done to perfection.

My Egmont just out side the door ,top top spot , visited this past week , Sept might be good time to visit not to many visitors around, Dawson falls 12 mins walk , just loved it.

K. T.We booked Dawson Falls lodge out for 3 nights for ny mothers 90th birthday. It was an amazing long weekend with staff making so much effort to ensure we had a great time. The food was fantastic, the rooms lovely and the lounge facilities perfect for our large family group. The mountain was perfectly clear on her birthday and we all enjoyed a walk to Wilkies pools. The youngest aged 9 months to the 90 year old all went. I highly recommend Dawson Falls lodge for such an event and hope to go back again before too long

J. G.In the heart of the bush on the southern side of Mt Taranaki is a get-away experience. The Dawson Falls Lodge offers and opportunity to ‘go bush’ and relax. With a DoC information centre nearby you can learn some of the history of the area or perhaps a short walk to the Dawson Falls themselves.
There is plenty to see and do or just sit and relax in the lodge and refresh yourself.
