You helped us when we almost lost our ‘boy’ Nixon last year. It was a very stressful 2 months or so whilst we underwent so many tests and procedures to get to the bottom of what was happening. It really was touch and go for a few weeks and it was horrible. Pet Plan and the service we received from your claims team was nothing short of epic. The true cost of vets bills can be astonishing at the best of times and you never think you’re going to need it but, as with all insurance, it’s the one time that you do that makes up for all the time you don’t. Facing the seemingly impossible decision to carry on was made easier by the knowledge that you ‘ had our backs’ and we were able to persevere and get Nixon back to health. This simply wouldn’t have been possible without your help. So, the fact that we have our little Nixon still with us is in no small amount because of your help. Thank you SO MUCH !

I am really impressed by this Pet Insurance provider. My boxer has had cancer among other illnesses that have required major surgery. My Huntaway Cross suffers from a skin irritation that requires expensive prescription drugs. The process is easy. Complete the forms, get the vet to complete their forms, email off to PetPlan and presto the claim in lodged. It takes them less than two weeks to assess. Having this insurance is invaluable and well worth the monthly payments. I have peace of mind knowing that I can afford to get the medical attention that my dogs need without worrying about the cost. 08/2019 Just had to use my insurance again for my Huntaway X and again I paid my $100 excess and the claims were accepted and paid out within one week of submission. This is outstanding service.

The best decision I had was to do this pet insurance! My cat was sick, it took a long time for vets to find out, and the vet cost becomes really expensive. Petplan was fast to respond to the claim, and I couldn't be happier with the prompt service. :)

We've been with Petplan for 12 months and so far so good. We have had to claim twice, and both claims have been approved no worries. When claiming you do have to get your vet to fill out part of the form and provide the history of your pet even if it has been provided before, which was a pain the first time but no problems the second time as we knew what was required. The second claim relates to an allergy our dog has developed, and it may turn out he needs an injection once every two months which Petplan have confirmed they will cover as part of the original claim for his allergy. Sometimes the wait time on the phone is a little long, but that's normal for most businesses I feel and can be rectified by calling early in the morning. Everyone I have spoken to at Petplan is lovely and professional, and has a great sense of humor about my dogs name which is Alan :-)

Petplan are super! They paid out my claim promptly even with it being over $5000 worth of Vet expenses. (less unClaimable items) 10/10 would recommend well worth the money!!

Petplan took the time to reply and explain the reasoning behind offering the 12 month plan. In addition if you upgrade to a life plan and your pet doesn’t have related symptoms of the exclusions for a 24 month period the exclusion may be removed. Definitely a lesson for me to read the fine print however I’ve amended my rating as they took the time to explain.
for This is partly my fault for not reading ALL of the small print or interpreting the essentials 12 month plan wrong - assuming it was just a continuous 12 month renewal. Unfortunately today I received my plan renewal information for my 3rd year of insuring my dog to find that she is no longer covered for Gastro issues as she caught Giardia and I claimed for this during the last insurance term. After querying this I find the 12 month essentials plan specifically excludes anything you claim for in the previous years. Complete waste of time and money as this is the whole point of insurance and continuing to pay and renew your insurance policy. So I find myself in a situation where no matter what insurer I go to my dog is not covered for this. Petplan need to make it abundantly clear that this is the case with the 12 month essentials plan and not in the fine print in the plan comparison table that highlights the key differences of each plan. .

We've just made our first claim for our 15 month old golden retriever. It was very straight forward to claim, simply printing off a form from the Petplan website and then filling in our part and the vet filling in theirs. So pleased to have the claim accepted within just a few days and the money paid into our account with no issues or delay. Very happy and so glad we have insurance, or the $850 vet bill would have been so difficult for us right before Christmas!

Great Pet insurer. The annual premiums were less the my last insurer for a higher level of cover. I have had to claim twice now and claims have been easy to make with a quick response and payment time. Couldnt be happier and would certainly recommend to others.

I was recommended Pet Plan by a friend, and they have been nothing but amazing and helpful! Our puppy ate a rock (yea, I know...) and had to go for surgery, so it was a bit of a worrying time for us, but they made the whole process so easy and they were brilliant to deal with. Payment was made back into our account in just over a week! I would highly recommend them.

We're very lucky we got insurance for our puppy, as we discovered her unfortunate hip issues only months later. While being covered for her multiple surgeries has eased much stress, I've found dealing with Petplan to be quite hard work. All the staff are perfectly friendly and helpful, but I've really struggled with consistent information - I keep being told completely different things with each interaction, both on the phone and via email. It's made it very hard to find out what's required at varying stages...

Pet Plan NZ have been so easy to deal with !!! We've made a number of claims in the last 3 years and have never had any issues. Always professional and if there is a hold up they let us know with an explanation why. We're always kept up to date with news on products and services and would recommend PetPlan NZ to anyone looking at a quality insurer.

Claims are paid promptly and painlessly and so would highly recommend to other pet owners.

Best pet insurance. Unfortunately our Gordon Setter boy has had multiple issues with his back most of his adult life and PetPlan have been amazing. They covered all of his treatments and process claims super fast. Can not recommend them enough. Thank you

I very recently took out petplan insurance for my 5 month old puppy. Found contacts at Petplan pleasant to deal with, thought premiums & conditions etc compared favourably against other insurers. My one disappointment - I was upfront honest that at 3 months when I got my pup he had diarohea. I qualified this, not serious diarhoea where he was sick just sloppy too soft poo and that he had been taken to vet for that a couple of times. Vet said no concern would come right & it did. It's quite normal occurrence with rescue pups who've been in pound then rescue kennels and then into a new home away from siblings etc. So, my insurance application was approved but on condition 12 month stand-down from any claim for any diarrhoea or gastro intestinal digestive system disorders. I reckon that's a bit too tough as a pup he's likely to have something crop up that is nothing to do with his initial small issue.

Fantastic service. Our much loved cat became suddenly ill and to save her life we had to make a fast decision on having surgery. When we submitted our claim, via our vet, Petplan paid our claim quickly and in full. We are so very grateful for the wonderful service we have received from Petplan, at a difficult time.

Have had several claims for my cat and dog insurance. No questions asked other than the standard vet details and receipts. Had to claim of over $3500 for cat injury less than 3 weeks into our plan... thank god for pet insurance.

As usual, I'm thrilled with how Petplan takes care of both my dogs medical needs. Little Tito got seriously sick and in pain in the middle of the night last Tuesday. This meant getting up and dressed at 3.30a.m to go to a 24 hour vet hospital. Treatment and tests continued for the following 3 days. Though what was wondering what was wrong with him was frightening, the one thing I didn't have to worry about, was how to pay the bill. It took Tito till Monday to return 80% to his normal self i.e. eating properly and looking bright and happy with his usual large black eyes, (instead of squinted ones through pain). What was even more impressive, was that the bill was sent by the vet to you late on Friday, and by Tuesday morning they were paid. Thank you for your ongoing support.

This is a service you dont want to use to often!
However in my experience when you need them they are very helpful and compassionate towards whatever issues and problems you have. I would recommend Petplan to any pet owner who is thinking of taking out insurance for their animals.

My dog Simba got a sudden illness & complete liver damage , unfortunatly he had to be put to sleep , pet plan took a while to process my claim but then they paid the whole amount that my dog was insured for , I'm happy with them specially Rebekah ,she was really nice & very helpfull.
