We unfortunately had to make a claim on our travel insurance due to a family member passing away a few days before our trip was due to start. I submitted the forms online and was contacted that night confirming they had the claim and needed another document, once I submitted the extra information I was contacted again quickly and advised our claim was reviewed and accepted. Fast and friendly service from Ben in customer service. Thanks so much for sorting this quickly.

We had a family holiday to Vietnam recently and paying for travel insurance youd expect to be covered. First and last time I will ever use TINZ. My wife lost her iPhone and we were hoping to go back to the cafe hoping it had been handed in so no police report done. I was told today (4.5.19) by TINZ 0800 number that I will be lucky if I get paid $100 from TINZ. Relentless emails for their information requirements and then they just keep on asking for the same stuff over and over again. They also asked if I had a Mastercard because unbeknown to me I already had travel cover due to having a Mastercard and it was a way for TINZ having not too pay a cent.
I’ve had enough and I’m giving up. I have never had an experience like this with an insurance company before. We will just have to buy my wife another phone and spend.
Update.
TINZ have made contact to explain what I was told was wrong and they have reviewed my claim and have decided to pay out for my wifes phone after we have purchased another I phone. Very happy with TINZ.
JUST MAKE SURE IF SOMETHING GETS STOLEN have proof of purchase and Get a police report.

During May of this year, whilst on an organised tour of Israel, my wife Margaret developed a serious case of pneumonia and had to be hospitalised in Jerusalem. We felt really out on a limb as there was relatively little English spoken at the hospital and the up-front costs of hospital admission and ongoing care were quite daunting. Before leaving New Zealand we had the good fortune to take out travel insurance with TINZ and with hindsight we can honestly say it was one of the best moves we have ever made.
From the moment we first notified TINZ of our predicament, they gave us assurance that they were able and willing to deal with our situation and kept in constant contact with us by email and telephone. I would like to make special mention here of Andres and Michelle at the Travel Claims Emergency Operations Centre who were our case managers. Andres and Michelle dealt with our situation extremely professionally but at the same time retaining that human touch that is so often absent in big business. There were various aspects of our dilemma that required constant re-arrangement, especially those regarding hotel bookings and our Case Managers dealt with these seamlessly, keeping us informed at every stage.
Margaret was in hospital for about 3 weeks at the end of which TINZ arranged for her to be repatriated to New Zealand with a nurse escort. They arranged all flights and itineraries and made the return home as comfortable as possible. The accompanying nurse, an Israeli, was extremely experienced and efficient and arranged wheelchair and motorised transport assistance at every airport.
Prior to travelling, we advised TINZ of our existing medical conditions and history and paid the extra premium requested. Had we not done so, we would have been in all sorts of trouble and would strongly urge readers of this review to disclose all medical matters in advance.
Margaret’s ongoing recovery is now nearing completion and we are thankful to TINZ for the professional manner in which they exercised their duty of care over us. We shall always be grateful to Andres and Michelle for looking after us across the miles at a time when our morale was very low and our future very uncertain. Needless to say we have no hesitation in recommending TINZ – indeed we have already done so to all our friends and family.
