A.Before the pandemic, I made two trips to New Zealand and stopped here both times to marvel at all the beautiful pieces. For a recent birthday, I ordered a custom piece. The process was easy and meaningful, and I couldn't be happier with what arrived in the mail! Catherine explained the origin of the stone, kept me up to date on the creation of the piece, and beautifully packaged the final necklace. I am absolutely over the moon and look forward to post-pandemic travel days when I can go visit the shop again! Thank you to Catherine (the owner) and Jeremy (the artist/carver)!

It is the best place for genuine pounamu and exquisite designs. Catherine and Warren were so lovely and knowledgeable. I literally spent over 3 hours in their shop. j.Visiting Shades Of Jade was one of the highlights of my stay in Greymouth.Catherine the owner made it very special by sharing with me the back story of Greenstone and it's journey from river to sea to beach. After I selected my pendant she kindly made up a new cord to suit my piece. It looks fantastic and I'm rapted with it. And it wasn't costly...prices are very reasonable.
I loved the store with it's displays of large natural Pounamu ...so West coast !

J.I wanted a special piece of jade to take away on my travels after an amazing stay on the West Coast. I wandered into Shades of Jade and loved the local vibe with it's natural driftwood theme and fabulous range of jade. Cath and Warren, the owners made me so welcome and really listened and understood what I wanted . I was so impressed that they knew the history of all of their jade, where it's all from and great that they have local carvers providing some unique pieces so you know it's original. Check it out!! I totally recommend a visit.
