They have everything you may ever need for landscaping , even hire out a landscaper. The plants are of high quality and very healthy . So many water features and compared with other garden centres, reasonably priced . We are travelling around NZ for 1yr in our motorhome and allways stop for a walk around at the garden centres, love it . Large cafe indoor and outdoor seating clean toilets. A large car park and some parking on the road side.

Really love this nursery, they have an inspiring selection of plants, all really healthy and very well priced. They are also attractively displayed, and categorized according to sun/shade and other preferences so it's easy to visualize what plant can go where in your own garden. You can pretty much find anything here. Great selection of beautiful pots. Lovely, helpful staff too. Also the cafe food is very good. Healthy and well priced.

Staff are nice and helpful. Small basic centre, great for seedlings, seeds etc but not much in specialty stuff as it's a small place, does have an a joining cafe.

Nice and friendly staff. Had a good coffee and muffin at the cafe. They have an amazing selection of plants. Its a little bit pricey than bunnings and mitre10 however their selection is above the roof. I would go back and def buy my plants from here on.

Nice local nursery, a lot of variety to choose from. Have bought a lot of plants from here. You can certainly come here to enjoy the environment or grab a coffee from the on site Cafe and sitting in the garden 😀. Nice set up, friendly staff too.

Delicious food , great variety. When one buys a scone one assumes one gets butter 🧈with it. BUT NO! encouraged to have two butters for scone, and it was needed because scone bigger than average scone. Charged for the scone then 10 cents per miserable wee portion size of butter, so 20 cents. THEN Charged for a hot water to drink!! Don't rush to here, may he new, a tad mean spirited though!

I like the garden center, big carpark, really good selection of plants, water features and pots and prices are ok. They have also good selection of tools and little presents. There is a coffee shop but I have not visited, so can't tell about that. Often go there for plants.

I love my local cafe Portstone Garden Centre and Cafe. Outstanding gluten free range (savoury and sweet), lots of variety, extensive gluten free range. Friendly staff. Beautiful outdoor area, sit amongst the beautiful plants for sale, listen to the many fountains & enjoy the local birdsong. Indoor seating also pleasant, several private booths, tables & couches. Attached indoor shop also has many, many gift options & is fun to browse. Good off street parking. Portstone Garden Centre and Cafe is a gem of Eastern Christchuch. I love my local cafe.

You may find this humour. A good while ago I bought very nice plant here, got home and Googled it found one twice the size and half the price. Gave a review about the high prices and was very politely asked why. I rechecked and it was a plastic plant! They look so real! lol. Anyway it hard case how I was fooled by a plastic plant and how completely wrong I was and how so very polite you were about it! Ha. you still have manners under fire, well done

An iconic garden centre with a great choice of flowers, fruit trees and bushes, staff are friendly and very helpful, every customer I seen there is always happy and excited to be there, they also have an on-site Cafe that you can go and enjoy a nice cup of coffee, tea, foods. I absolutely enjoyed being in this place and I'll always recommend it to people. Keep up the great work.

We love the cafe here! There is so much space for prams, walkers etc. Tables for larger groups and small groups. My hot chocolate and bagel this morning was delicious! There is a high chair available. The staff are so lovely! Whenever I go the place is always clean and tidy. Huge range of gluten free options too. The lemon custard slice is 👌

Great little place to find plants, nice pots and gift items, although it can be expensive. Good selection of cacti and succulents as well as flowering plants and trees. The cafe is quite pricy but the coffee is good and there's a lovely outdoor seating area among the plants, fountains, and garden decorations. We enjoyed watching birds play in the fountains nearby while we ate and drank our coffee :-)

On the whole Portstone is a good garden centre, I have been going there for about 15 years on and off which is praise in its own right. However, its 'good' rating is very much the average of excellent and abysmal. On the excellent side, most of its staff (particularly Sue) are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, but at the other end of the spectrum one of its male staff is often offhand and downright rude. I have stopped shopping at Portstone on several occasions, these occasions equate with interacting with this staff member during one of my shopping 'experiences'. I write this now because I shopped at Portstone yesterday and interacted with the aforementioned staff member which significantly marred what would otherwise have been a good experience. This is a great pity.
