M.Beautifully clean! This motel is in great condition.
Office lady was friendly and efficient. Bed was super comfy & the air-conditioning had no trouble keeping our room at a comfortable temperature considering it was 31° outside. 5 stars.

S.While on our mini-moon we planned to take part in Gisborne parkrun so looked for a place to stay within walking distance of the event and found Captain Cook Motor Lodge near by. Looked great from the outside when we arrived with super wiiiiiiide car parks right outside each room. Room was tidy and clean and had pretty much everything we needed for a one night stay. Our king size bed was two beds pushed together which was fine and good and Wifey was happy my tossing and turning wouldn't wake her. But my single had noticeable sag in the middle. Wifey's was perfect.
Of concern was the railway lines directly out back and a busy road out front. However neither got noisy so our sleep was not interrupted. In fact I don't think we heard or saw a train. What really did surprise us though was the onsite restaurant was not open Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights. Call me mad but isn't that when most travellers travel? I asked about it being open for breakfast and was told by the friendly staff that they would open it for us if we wanted to use it. Strange but true. Not to mind, we ordered Indian and had it delivered and still had a great stay. The motor lodge is handy to Waikanae Beach and the walking / riding trail that heads north and south from there. The motor camp across the road didn't create any noise that was noticeable. All in all a good place to stay.

N.Lovely clean and spacious room. Lots of TV channels. On a main highway with lots of trucks but it didn't disturb our sleep. Huge comfortable bed. Great customer service.
Only things we can fault is : no extra blanket or toilet paper.
B.The room was spotless, the bed was extremely comfortable & the breakfast was good value for money. Major problem: we stayed in Room 1, the noise from the street was awful. Big trucks would shake the wall the bed head was against and no other wall was appropriate.

j.We stayed at the Captain Cook for two nights on a recent visit to Gisborne and Napier. The motel has a lot of things going for it, but also a few issues that need improvement.
The motel is conveniently located just a few minutes drive to a number of restaurants in Gisborne. The room was clean, tidy, with free wifi, skytv and friendly staff.
However, there are some things that need to be improved. Security is an issue. The hotel still uses a key, which can be duplicated and there is no chain lock or deadbolt.
Our room had a king size bed, that although clean, was just two single beds pushed together. This meant that you could feel the seams in the centre of the bed.
This place would be much improved by installing deadbolts, switching to key cards and replacing the mattresses.
a.Absolutely amazing service from this family run business. Unfortunately I forgot to ask their names but I met the sister who is so friendly and caring.and her brother both greet you with smiles and expert customer service
The units are amazing and super super clean and wonderful friendly staff. The restaurant at the lodge cooks amazing meals. If ever you need a motel that's affordable please. Stay here you will not be disappointed I am definitely staying here whenever I need a motel each time I come to Gisborne. Truly amazing place.
M.We liked the stay, but loved the apartment it was comfy, warm, spacious and the spa bath👌🏽a warm welcome from the receptionist just made it all that better.

M.Great place, staff are very helpful and accommodating. Very close to the beach and the marina. Rooms are big and beds would have to be one of the most comfortable I have found in many hotels I have been to.

W.Very clean place very friendly office lady love the coffee selection, very comfy beds, great mount of space, very warm, they have sky sports, free wifi and good parking space just the noise of the logging trucks going past on the main road and behind the lodge early hours of the morning but otherwise a very good place to stay.

J.Great place to stay right in the city. Close to the beach, cafes/restaurants, Sunshine Brewery, for those craft beer lovers and close enough to the supermarket. The staff are lovely and the motel is very clean. Why not stay here 😍

G.Stayed here for 2 nights in a very clean & comfortable 1 Bedroom. The staff are wonderfully friendly & thank you to Andrea for giving us a ride to town even though it's not too far & giving us some tips on where to eat. I'm a heavy sleeper so I wasn't disturbed by the heavy traffic but my partner thought there was an earthquake when I think it was just a big truck passing lol. Would recommend & definitely stay here again.

A.We enjoyed our two night stay here. It was close to the beach to access walkways to see the sights on foot. Town centre was a 15-20 min walk and Pak n Save on the way with slight detour down Childers Road. Our room was clean and well equipped, in particular the ceiling fan and front and back doors to allow breeze through room. The laundry facilities were good. We didn't eat at the restaurant, regrettably but had fish and chips from Captain Morgans just around corner and Chinese in town. I loved Gisborne.

C.During our 11 day road trip of the East Coast from Mount Maunganui, via the East Cape to Gisborne, this motel was the best place we stayed at. It was clean and functional and the service was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and were able to point us in the direction of sites/ things to do nearby.

M.Back at the Captain Cook Motor Lodge, This Motor Lodge is still fantastic, the service is great, even remembered my name at the office and remembered our needs for internet, the room we checked in to is immaculate, unfortunately it is at a busy time of the year and we weren't able to get a spa bath room because we made a late booking but they were able to accommodate us so we appreciate it, I totally recommend anyone coming to Gisborne and needing a Motel or Motor Lodge you should stay here
