Reviews of Saint Clair Family Estate Vineyard Kitchen
k.
We biked with our 3 teens to Saint Clair from Blenheim. They obviously get a lot cyclists because they had plenty of sturdy bike racks waiting for us.
We ordered coffees and a wine tasting, and we were offered a table outside. The setting was glorious and, Gavin, our wine guide was exceptional.
Gavin was amazing with out children. He spent close to an hour taking us on a tour of the region's wines. He shared lots of stories and did a fabulous job of translating winemaker's speak into English for us. We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our experience.
E.
Incredible setting in the vineyard. The staff were friendly and attended to us promptly. The Marlborough platter had a generous serving for two. A must place to visit if you are in Blenheim.

Today we had a family birthday lunch celebration at Saint Clair Vineyard Kitchen for 15 of us. We are a very ‘foodie’ family who are sometimes hard to impress. Today however 15 of us were super impressed with the food and the service we received. We had small children in the group who had amazing platters. Every single adult meal was delicious and very well presented. The wine, of course was top quality… but the most outstanding part of this experience was our attentive waitress. I unfortunately didn’t get her name but she had beautiful bright nails. She was knowledgeable, kind, patient and very attentive. Our whole experience was such a pleasure and I would highly recommend to everyone.

We (a group of friends for a birthday lunch) have enjoyed a most delightful lunch together today. The new Spring/Summer menu is devine & we now need to go back as there was a bit of selection envy! Pick of the day was pork belly main followed by the chocolate mousse & strawberries. Highly recommended.

We arrived at 12.30pm on Monday and it was fully booked until 2pm. We decided that it was worth waiting and we were not disappointed! But you should book in advance for sure. We were finally seated outside as we wanted. We asked for wine tasting, for two of us we tried six different wines and the service was fantastic! We ordered bread and dips platter with homemade pate, fish of the day and the cheese cake and coffee at the end. Everything was superb! The wine is amazing... we would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in the area.
K.
Absolutely the MOST delicious pork belly that my father and I have EVER eaten!! ..the wine that went with it was lovely. Sitting amongst the vines was an amazing, relaxing experience.
Hope to return from Christchurch asap, just for the pork alone!!
S.
We stopped by on our way to Christchurch. The engaging maitre'd told us there was a half an hour wait, so we had a look around the vineyard. When we were finally shown to our table, it was well worth the wait. The vegan chef's creation was innovative and delicious using buckwheat, carrot puree and seasonal veges from their garden. The fish that my husband had was presented well and looked flavourful. Definitely the place to go. Book in advance as very popular.

We had perfect lunch here. Such great and friendly staff. Great selection of wine and food. Highly recommend this lovely place.
S.
Delightful place to stop for lunch. Food and wine was excellent. Staff were very professional and friendly. See pics. Loads of parking and an art gallery next door is a bonus.
R.
Wonderful food. Super friendly staff. They were very accomodating for us and we had a wonderful lunch. Thanks so much.

Enjoyed a tasting of six wines and a bread and dips platter here. Lovely outdoor seating amongst the vines. The somelier made the tasting a great experience giving a good background to the wines and highlighting the key flavor attributes. We enjoyed the sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and gewurztraminer.

It was a trip 5-6 months in the making - I am a huge fan of Saint Clair's wine, particularly their reserve pinot noir and sauvignon blanc. Ever since I was introduced to these wines by my sifu, the wines never fail to impress the crowd whenever I brought them out.
One of the happiest moment during my trip in New Zealand was visiting winery. Especially to Saint Clair - I'd pre-booked my lunch earlier to avoid disappointment. On the day I took ferry from Wellington to Picton, I prayed for clear blue sky and it was answered - took my rental car and drove 30 min down to Blenheim to my destination. Service was impeccable, and we were made right at home almost immediately.
◾Out of the Marlborough Sounds – A shared plate of some of the finest product of the Marlborough Sounds consisting of home-cured smoked salmon, green lipped mussels, salt and pepper squid accompanied with local olive oil and fresh bread. All seafoods were fresh, my only grouse is that the smoked salmon lacked the killer punch. But good pairing with Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc nonetheless.
◾crusted venison - requested for medium and it was done beautifully, presented beautifully and most importantly, tasted as beautiful. Perfect to go with a glass of Omaka Reserve Pinot Noir.
◾imagine the joy to see that there was children's menu - all opted for ham, cheese and pineapple with mixed greens and potato pom poms.
We took our own sweet time in the winery taking pictures after finishing our lunch. Bought a bottle of Pinot Gris Rose in the end to drink later at night as we reached Kaikoura.

Sit out in the vines on a summers day' or if it gets too hot you can sit in the shade to enjoy the lovely meals provided by the very talented chef. Lots to choose from, and of course enjoy the taste of Marlborough's fine wines. We really had a lovely time there at St.Claire Family Estate.

Great tasting and great bread & dips board
A.
Excellent food and very well paired wines. Good choice of vegetarian options. Definitely recommend the duck and salted caramel cheesecake!
S.
We were well taken care of by Stephie and it was a lovely lunch among the vines. A beautiful vineyard restaurant which we looked forward to after drinking their wines in Singapore. Must visit!
B.
Delicious lunch, great service thanks guys.

Had a fantastic day here for lunch and wine! It was exactly what we needed and more after a gruelsome drive up west from franz josef. We knew there were plenty of wineries in the region of Marlborough so we had to be decisive and sharp. We read a lot of reviews and blogs online and decided that this was where we wanted to be. Happy to say we got 3 bottles of whites which tasted so smooth and complex, and a lovely lunch + cheese set that had us down right satisfied. Now I just need a nice afternoon nap to finish them off. Also a special call out to Celeste (our wine guide) who gave us strong recommendations in and out of Blenheim and her wine introduction was stellar (no mean feat given we have been to 4+ wineries down in central Otago). Way to go!
N.
This is so much more than wine. We got an excellent lunch (with some really nice food) and complimentary wine tasting (6 different wines, normal price 8$ without lunch). Wines are great as well and we ended up buying 3/6 tasted wines (priced 25-50$/bottle ish).
r.
The whole experience was amazing. The wine, food and eating in the vines is stunning. But Gavin who gave us the wine tasting was incredible. He was so knowledgeable and his explanation of the wine took you on a journey. Best wine tasting experience I have had in a long time. He took the time to speak to us and teach us. Very grateful. Highly recommend visiting here!
A.
Great ambience, good tasting room and food service. Delicious food. Will love to see more vegetarian options in their menu.
C.
Best winery-visit we had on our trip. Lovely staff, seated in the Vinyard, great wine and food.
S.
After checking out from our Hotel, we had a couple of hours before catching our flight back home and decided to have a long lunch at Saint Clair. It was the the right decision, the service was amazing - Bella in particular as she was extremely helpful. The food did not disappoint, it was fresh, mouth watering and inviting. The chilled Rose to accompany the lunch was just right. Sitting outside in the sun was relaxing, and just what we needed before heading home. I highly recommend Saint Clair Kitchen. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
N.
GF/DF/low FODMAP friendly food! The kitchen checked my intolerances and preferences, and gave me monkfish with dill and citrus, served with wilted greens and toasted nuts on a bed of mixed red, white and black rice. Absolutely delicious. The wine and the scenery were also great!
L.
We had a wine tasting and every single wine was gorgeous. The guy who took the wine tasting really knew his stuff and his chat was interesting and informative. Such a beautiful location to go with such beautiful wine.
J.
Had the most enjoyable time in the vines we shared the platter and wine to match thanks guys
m.
Great place very accommodating good platter and atmosphere . Had the celebration platter nice fresh food good selection. The local wines delicious
J.
One of the best tasting experiences we have had. Not only great wine but excellent presentation by Kelly our host. She was able to be very informative without being far too technical. Friendly and approachable. Better than anywhere overseas by the way.10 out of 10

Went for wine tasting session, the settings on observations are inviting so decided to return for Sunday lunch. Lady have forgotten to repeat our orders so probably assumed we ordered the usual 3 mains for 3 person. Luckily didn't have to wait too long for crayfish. Wished there's more side salad options. Great wine paired with great food.
P.
We stopped in and had a late afternoon Chardonnay and Viognier last weekend. The Maitre D was so intuitive, we were very welcomed even though we were a last minute table. Such an awesome team, obviously happy to be there. Loved the tau moko proudly worn by one wait staff. That's progressive, intuitive teamwork. I wish I wasn't in Wgtn ....I wish I was there ....right now.
D.
We had a long list of wineries that we wanted to visit..and this was the first place.
The plan was to stop for only a wine tasting, and we ended staying longer and enjoy a beautiful platter, wine, coffee and dessert.
We had a nice spot between the wine yards, and some privacy.
Amazing garden and views, lovely staff and beautiful food & wine!!
Definitely a recommendation!
A.
Amazing food. Wine tasting. And staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
J.
The food was good, but the wine! This was the best wine I had in NZ.
L.
We had a very enjoyable time at St Clair it was a cold windy day but very warm and cosy inside. There were 8 of us and all enjoyed our main meal no matter what we had. We were also pleasantly surprised at the delicious desserts. A delightful afternoon, service was very good even though the staff were very busy. We recommend this winery for a good experience.
N.
Really lovely experience dining in the vines. Gavin is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to wine - I would highly recommend a tasting. The food was good and they are dog friendly!
B.
Top notch stuff! Beautiful place for a group or couple. Get the platter and snack away over a few glasses of wine indoors or out. The team there will make sure you are well looked after.
B.
A lovely lunch. Service great. The food is so delicious and the Dawn bubbles amazing. 🍾
S.
This post pertains to the "Eden Gallery & Boutique" on the outskirts of Blenheim who shares it's location with the vineyard it sits on.
What a very special little shop! Stunning works of art & pieces by some incredibly talented local artists. From designer, wine barrel Cape Cod chairs to the most original funky fishes you'll ever spot & luckily catch. Fabulous paintings, jewellery, and crafts that you'll just Have to Have. Enjoy!

Excellent service from our waitress (did not catch her name) and Alex. The food was lovely and given the setting and quality, was also worth the price. As a vegan I felt well catered for and the wine tasting after lunch was very informative and fun. Would recommend as stop on your trip!

Great experience stopping in for a glass of Sauv and a snack on our South Island trek. Very good wine, lovely grounds and great service made for a standout experience. Reasonably priced and quality food. We enjoyed fresh bread, olives abd a brownie.
A.
Fantastic service! Despite being busy, the bartender seated me, put through my food order, chatted over a free and delicious wine tasting, while simultaneously greeting others. Food was fresh and delicious and the space was just perfect, sitting outside amongst the vineyards.
s.
Pulled in here randomly for a tasting and found the place so relaxing we stayed for lunch. Food was excellent and so was the wine. We gladly emptied our wallets here as they deserve it and it really is quite reasonably priced. Lovely staff from all over the globe.
S.
The staff were wonderful, we really enjoyed our tasting. The food was however a bit of a let-down, in the garden inspiration there was meant to be mushroom and figs... both were not on the plate. The lamb had absolutely no salt. The mojito cheesecake was so mild.. no mint and no lime. The rubarb with the Panna cotta was almost pickled (super crunchy) and interesting with the soft texture of the Panna cotta.
S.
Absolutely amazing food and wine !
J.
Chicken confit.... Best meal on the whole four week South island tour. St Clair rocks!

Delicious lunch in a beautiful venue, and the staff were attentive and helpful. Would've been nice to know that the cheesecake was presented in a glass, and a shame to see plastic straws.

(Translated) Beautiful discoveries in a nice setting among the vineyards for a simple tasting. Warm welcome from the waiters and oenologists who were able to present us, with passion, the proposed wines. Special mention for Jean-Tristan, young French freshly arrived, who guided us with skill and kindness. Also tasting is offered if you buy 1 bottle ... Thank you.

(Translated) Interesting place for the canal that runs alongside us and seems full of eels. Strange wines I honestly did not appreciate them very much, but maybe by the New Zealand standard they are not to be considered evil!
(Original)
Posto interessante per la roggia che ci corre di fianco e sembra ricca di anguille. Vini strani sinceramente non li ho apprezzati tantissimo, ma magari per lo standard neozelandese non sono da considerarsi malvagi!
