Best food I’ve had in years. Had a selection of different things to try and felt like I was a judge on MasterChef sampling all the dishes and experiencing the beautiful flavours. Very pleasant surroundings and atmosphere and the service was excellent also. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Outstanding! Probably the best vineyard meal we had in Hawkes Bay. Every course was really special from the focaccia to the soufflé to the fish of the day. Even the carrots were superb! Dog friendly location and helpful staff who seated us at a nice outdoor area for dining. Would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend.

Had a wonderful stay at Rush cottage. Very handy to the Bristro. Would go back again.

This restaurant is all about the setting in the vines overlooking Napier city. Food was well seasoned and thoughtful given local produce, great service. We had wine by the glass, but would have appreciated a wine pairing recommendation from our waiter as we were clearly indecisive. Oysters were a highlight as was the tomato starter but I would skip the cheese as very small portions for the price. Impressed they can cater for vegans but some good Vege options on the menu anyways.

Really nice site secluded on a vineyard. Quite a small venue about 20 stalls. Pleasant stall holders serving with a smile with good fare. Enjoyed the quality of produce. Only down was the stall holders struggled with the numbers who turned up

This winery and bristo is set in a stunning location. Wine tasting on offer with 4 sips of wine for $10.00 which was very pleasant. Prices per bottle between $29 to $39 We stopped for lunch wth the setting overlooking stunning rural views and the vineyard. Big kudos to everyone involved in creating this setting over last 18 yrs. Bristo was great for starters and light meals. However main meals arrived cold. Which was a shame. However would go back to try again. As so enjoyed thr setting, staff all very good and the wine.!

Not the quick and cheap lunch I had intended but a fabulous gastronomic experience anyway! Very tasty food, very friendly and professional staff and a superb setting! So lovely on a hot summer day! But best to be enjoyed for that special occasion as it is a bit more on the pricier side...

Gorgeous location in amongst the vines. Wine was served in lovely glasses pictured. Snacks were lovely & offered dairy and gluten free options. Easily bike ride or drive from Havelock North

If I was to only rate the food it would be 5 stars. Beautiful tastes with well-coordinated wine pairing. Knocked down by two stars for the level of service. We were greeted welcomingly at the door and told to walk down to the courtyard at the “please wait to be seated” sign. When we arrived, a waitress asked what we were doing and said we should be back at the sign. Her tone made us feel like we were intruders. She left and a man then seated us. We were glad to have a different waitress serving us as well as some other waiters. Will never forget the unwelcoming attitude of the first waitress, which unfortunately poisons the overall experience. The setting is beautiful, however! Food and setting are fantastic.

We only visited for a tasting, based on feedback we had received. The wines were lovely, and the staff pleasant and helpful. We didn't pick up anything to cellar, but did get a bottle to have during our visit to NZ. The facilities there are stunning, and we would look into staying there in future, but probably without the kids.

Great boutique vineyard. Tasting was relaxed timely and host was knowledgeable about products. Timing was prefect as we had the couch next to the open fire. But could see this being a bit awkwardly you had a larger group but as for a couple it was amazing.

Loved the outdoor cinema experience. Great level of crew from the parking, to seating and the waste warriors. Great atmosphere. Good facilities. Could have been helpful having a few more ushers/guides from the parking to the amphitheatre. Dress warm. Great audio and visual quality of movie. Would recommend and would go again.

Really fabulous bistro and lunch experience. Didn’t make time for the tasting but it’s a simple cellar door and friendly staff.

Didn’t go to the restaurant so can’t say anything about the food. The wine tasting experience was average. Feel like they’re quite stingy with the pouring. There’s barely a sip for each wine. Definitely sit outside if it’s not too cold.

Yesterday we had lunch at Black Barn. Fantastic A1 experience. Waitress so attentive and knowledgeable of the menu Her accent gorgeous. I'm allergic to garlic n onions etc. Wow did they look after me. Perfect meal. Gnocchi Will definitely go back again.

Service and wine was great. Oysters fresh and tasty. Lamb main was unfortunately cold and fish of the day was Gurnard not groper bit of a let down. Normally would have dessert but menu seemed uninspiring.

My partner, mum, and myself visited today about 2pm, we went to the kitchen shop. Unfortunately we did not get her name but... we just want to say a huge thank you . The customer service was A+++++, were just little hillbillys on holiday and we were made to feel so welcome. By the way when I got home I soon changed out of my jandals :). Excellent customer service and thank you so much. :)

Awesome experience for wine tasting. We ended up buying the 2014 Merlot/Cabernet and 2017 Rosé

We were recently in Napier and had the most gorgeous lunch at Black Barn. We did wine tasting first with the most delightful lady who was very knowledgeable and we walked away with plenty of the delicious Pinot Gris. The lunch at the Bistro was to die for:- Entrees - Hangi Goat croquettes Tora Bay paua fritters - AMAZING!! Mains - Monkfish with a swiss chard risotto and roasted Bostock half chicken - my husband and I shared the dishes and both loved everything. Great service from our Irish waitress who was fantastic. All in all a fabulous experience, and we'll be back for sure!

Went to see the Walk of Wonders exhibit different artists contributed and each display scattered along a directed path. Each very different but all using beautiful light effects the whales swimming amongst the grape vine was wonderful it had us watching for some time

Went for lunch last Saturday, this place is amazing, I'm not a steak tartare person but their take on it was incredible, I might be a carnivore afterall, and as for the raw fish ... another level, don't drive past go in... the wine without doubt perfectly complemented the food and staff were terrific as well...

Probably the most beautiful setting of any wineries we visited during our trip. Tastings were complimentary, which is great, however it is not advertised so there is always that uncertainty when you go to settle up. Wines were quite nice, they had a montepulciano which was a nice surprise. after tasting many syrahs in the region. The shop on site sold lovely gifts and treats which were thoughtfully selected. The restaurant had an exceptional view and would have been a great place for lunch but we didn't stay.

A wonderful lunch highly recommend it. Oysters, raw fish, Duck liver Pate, Matangi Steak tartar, and to top that off with an Affagato what a treat.

For such a highly rated restaurant we were left somewhat disappointed,I had the fish that while well cooked the dish as a whole lacked any wow factor.My wife had the gnocchi that was overworked and doughy,looked good on the plate but once again lacked depth of flavour,for the price we expected more.

Went for lunch with my wife. Absolutely incredible food. Cured salmon entree was off its head! So good. Beef fillet main was mighty fine too. Service was bang-on. Great place for lunch.

Lovely service and nice venue but the I don’t think their menu matches their former reputation as a premiere Hawkes Bay venue. The food was a bit ordinary especially the NZ beef which was lukewarm in tepid sauce. Considering the prices exceed many of their neighbours I can’t think of any reason to recommend you choose black barn over anywhere else

On Saturday evening 22 July I had a date with a lovely man 4 his birthday and chose your restaurant great food ,atmosphere most enjoyable. Our young French waitress was absolutely lovely. I had only been Black Barn twice before , for lunch some years ago and a wedding 18 months so never for I will certainly be back . Thank you for a wonderful experience and evening

Maryanne was very knowledgeable and friendly, even helped us with directions. She was awesome! Perfect spot to end our day of wine tasting. Enjoyed the pinot gris and rose. The restaurant and setting for drinks out the back is awesome.

Walk of Wonder 2021 - fantastic

Thank you so much for making our first wine tasting experience with a baby superb! You smashed our expectations, and the service was impeccable.

We had a dinner 3 courses @$60/head recently and were very impressed by all aspects of the experience. The only minor issue was that the saxophone music was just a little loud at times. Warmly recommended.

One of the best vineyards for rosé. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Walked away with a few good bottles to bring back to Auckland. Will come back again to try out the restaurant.

Beautiful indoors and outdoors. The food is world class. Tastings at the cellar are free, well presented and generous. There is also a cute gift shop where you can buy things various things including homewares, relishes and cook books and have it posted home as well.

Really lovely tasting experience thanks to the knowledgable and courteous staff. The view from the bistro is amazing as well. Would love to spend an entire afternoon here soaking in the sun.

Excellent food, views and layout, above average service. Only gripe, and a big one, a glass of wine with your meal costs at least $10. Considering this is the source of the wine, $10 is extortion.
