Visited Jurassic Ridge on Saturday afternoon, with friends and we were treated to some of the best New Zealand made wines we have ever tested. By a country mile, probably the best wine made on Waiheke (if not New Zealand). The host was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his product, which always enhances the experience.
We all left with a few bottles and had to hold ourselves back from buying everything we tasted.
I would definitely recommend this to true wine lovers.

As you would expect from a retired neurologist Lance is articulate and knowledgeable about his vineyard and his wines are impeccable. My partner and I agree that these are the best NZ wines we have ever tasted. Almost 200m from Mudbrick on the same side. Look for the sign as you may miss the driveway. Thank you Lance for an amazing wine tasting experience. Rachel & Kieran

Had a 10/10 experience at Jurassic Ridge - would recommend. Came here as a group on the weekend and the owner offered us a taste of a generous range of wines and knowledgeably spoke us through the process by which each was made. We all bought wines and olive oil and walked away happy. Initially we’d planned to go to mudbrick or other nearby vineyards but the crowds and wait times were excessive so it was a very worthwhile decision to come here instead.

We had an absolutely amazing experience wine tasting here. The owner was very knowledgeable and we all learnt a lot about the authentic Italian way of growing and wine making.
I would recommend jurassic ridge to anyone who is genuinely interested in wine making and hearing about Italian wine making techniques.

We were lucky to be the only visitors at the time due to wild and windy weather.
The tasting was generous and the wines fabulous. With a host that clearly loves wine and winemaking first and foremost, this is the place we will remember at Waiheke.

Lance was absolutely fantastic, completely different to any other vineyard we have visited.
Extremely knowledgeable and patient - talked us through everything. The wine is unique in every respect and you would be doing yourself a disservice not visiting this place. Whilst at the other vineyards on the island, we spoke to people who were no more knowledgeable than ourselves - Lance is on a different playing field entirely.
Didn't 'd attend a wine tasting and buy a bottle but I am now sat with a bottle of his fantastic 2012 sauvignon blanc. It's stunning.

The owner, grower, and wine maker is the guy that will serve you. He’s a complete wine nerd. Not the best customer facing skills, but he’ll tell you everything you want to know about the grapes, climate, wines, etc. He may appear a bit arrogant to some, but he’s honest & knowledgeable too. Highly recommend. And the 2010 Syrah was incredible.

Fabulous little vineyard, run by a real craftsman winemaker who's too authentic to fuss about what anyone thinks of him. Just cares about wine. Genuinely enjoyed having a chat with him about the wines, and learned a lot. Bought one of the best red wines I've ever had here.

So funny... I was with the person who just left a 1 star review and couldn't both agree and disagree more. So here's the deal... it's a one man show and he is all about making amazing wine without any of the extra cheats used by the bigger wine manufacturers. To echo the one star review, no he doesn't care about your money or what you like. He makes what he loves to drink and if you also like it then great. If not don't buy it. He is opinionated and well educated and will tell you a lot about his wine and wines in general. It was like no other vinyard but was also my favorite stop.
I would say if you're not into being told about wine by a summer intern that's there for the season and want to hear about wine history and the wine you're drinking from the guy who not only planted every vine in the vineyard but also makes all the wine, this is an absolute must stop.

Wines were very good but the owner wasn’t the most welcoming, I was ignored when I walked in until I asserted my presence. I felt like I was an inconvenience and it was a chore for him to do the tastings although he was clearly an expert on his and all wines. If you know your stuff you’d prob have a great conversation but for me unfortunately I only know I love wine! it was my least favourite vineyard. Also it’s only cellar door tasting there’s no food or seated area so typical time spent here is 30 mins tops. It doesn’t open in winter despite opening hours on google but in summer it’s only a 5 min walk from mud brick so if your in the area give it a visit if only to taste the wines which are exquisite.

Certainly the best wines I tasted on Waiheke, not catered to the consumers' desires but created with the quality of product in mind. Such is also the tasting, don't expect a superb guest service, but rather a straightforward tasting provided by the rather (deservingly) prideful owner. Well well worth it.

Amazing wine tasting experience, with Larce dispensing massive amounts of information on the wines and winemaking process.

Amazing organic wines and Lance the winemaker has an in-depth understanding of his craft. Well worth the visit.

Lance is incredible. While you may not buy his gospel, you have to admire someone who is both willing to put in the incredible time effort it takes to test his theories. And in the end he makes great wine, significantly better in our opinion than mudbrick just up the hill.

Great visit, Lance is an interesting host and the low sugar wines were extremely unique with a distinct Waiheke flavor.

Lance knows his stuff and makes purist style old world wines from the best grapes on Waiheke. Well worth a visit.

Best wine and wine experience on island. Lacks views and atmosphere of other vineyards, but more than makes up for it in personality.

Amazing Wine and Lance will have a great chat to you, had a great time visiting and intend to visit again.
