It was sooo much fun! We had a few first timers and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the feeling you get once you solve a riddle, puzzle, etc using the clues. Totally recommend! After our escape room experience, we had a free 1 hour time with any of the board games they had available. So fun!

I really enjoyed the Tzolk'in room, and the heist one was fun too. Great puzzles, and very friendly staff. It's also great that you can play boardgames for an hour after the escape rooms for free.

Located on Bryce street on level one, the escapist room is easy to find with good signage. This place is not only an escape room but also a board game cafe. Which when you book a room they offer you a couple of hours of free board gaming. We did the Bewitched and the Forsaken Farmhouse, even though we never made it out of them in time they offered to guide us through the room to get out as we weren't far off. The game masters were fun and they really got into the story telling of rooms before we stepped in. Good work for a newly opened escape room.

We had so much fun at Escapist. Been to escape rooms before and no where near as much fun as we had here!!! Love that you can go back and visit the same room again too. Great service from owners! Pam ya legend.

Have been here to play boardgames a couple times now. $5 each to play for 3 hours and is a good way of playing some boardgames without a huge investment and they have many for sale as well. Haven't tried their escape room. Facility is tidy and well kept. Coffee, hot beverages, cold drinks and snacks available although at a premium.

We played the online escape room game Red Hill Asylum with the family, across 4 locations during Level 3. We had lots of fun and plenty of laughs, managing to escape 53 seconds shy of the countdown. Pam who guided the game was a great sport and handled some of our more questionable game choices in her stride, with a great sense of humour throughout. A great way to get the friends and family together online and have a few laughs.

Escapist is a great place for team building and team meetings! Not only did they have room for our Board workshop but they gave us a taste of a few games, coffees, teas and snacks to help with our creative thinking! Their escape rooms also offer great story-telling and entertainment for the team!

We travelled to Hamilton as we are big escape room fans and tried 2 rooms. Here are the rooms in order of our favourite: *Tzolkin *Bank Heist (Didn’t try tabby lane or forsaken farmhouse) The staff were great and knew their stuff when telling the back story etc. Bank heist is very different as is repeatable but we found there wasn’t the same satisfaction as when playing a standard room, but would be nice to be able to try and get a better score a second time. Liked having the board games to play in between rooms but was school holidays and a few children were also playing. Overall was great.

The escape rooms are always great, the puzzles match the theme of the room which most other places fail to do Also the guy working there was the coolest, 10/10 W.K. deserves a raise!

My family of adults, a teen and a tween did the Red Hill Asylum online escape during Auckland's lockdown recently. The gamemaster was excellent and we had a really good time. We even escaped before our time was up! Highly recommended.

It was a great experience! First time trying escape room online, but definitely not a tiny bit less fun than the physical one. The game master was very friendly, kind, and patient in explaining and guiding us. She has a great and interesting narrative skills too. It's a great way to have fun with your friends or colleagues during this pandemic, or simply have fun with friends at different parts of the world 😆😉 definitely will try other rooms too!

I took 7 friends along for an escape room experience and everyone loved it! It was a really fun thing to do for my birthday. Just a short walk from where we had dinner first. The staff were super lovely and we will definitely be back for more. Thanks for having us all Escapist!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Awesome virtual escape room experience with my 3 teams. It was especially brilliant that the facilitator asked specific questions of each individual within the team which allowed for those who were more introvert to take part virtually. Everyone loved it!!

My team and I had a great time. We did the Heist 2.0 room as a team building activity and it was perfect. Everyone participated and got stuck into it straight away. We can't wait to come back again. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing time at Escapist recently! We regularly head over from Tauranga just to play board games here as they have a massive selection of board games to play in the cafe! On our most recent visit, we brought our friends over and tried one of the Escape rooms. We managed to escape the Tzolk'in Mayan temple room which was great, got us all thinking over lots of well thought out puzzles true to the theme of the room which was great! Special mention to the wonderful staff there, they really go the extra mile to make sure you have a great time, they know their games and can give you recommendations on what you may like and maybe even get you started on how to play if they are not busy, and we had such a laugh with some of the girls while they were introducing the escape room for us! We love Escapist so much and will keep coming here for board games and to try out some of the other rooms next time!

Escapist in Hamilton has become my new favourite place! I would 100% recommend going there if you're looking for something Fun to do. Me and my friends have been to every room and each one is unique, challenging and fun! We often go there to play board games and Pam and the team are so accommodating! We've even taken our youth group there and they loved it! Best business in town!

If It is your first time doing an escape room, I highly recommend the escapist as they have the best story telling staff in town, as well as the most appealing rooms with tons of little details that I really appreciated. The rooms are closed off ( you don't hear any other groups and people answering phones in the hall way)and there is always some back round sound effects happening to create a great vibe in the room. Very good experience would highly recommend and I will be coming back.

Absolutely fantastic!! Had such a great time we ended up doing another room straight after our first room. The team were just amazing and really made us feel welcome, and their story telling skills where top notch. We will be back for sure. Thanks so much!!

Excellent experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the Bewitched escape room. Staff are friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed playing the games, so much so that we returned the next day to play some more. Good coffee too

We did the Copperfield virtual room, and it's so much fun! We joined in from Poland, Indonesia, and Australia. Pam is a great storyteller; she guided us through the room using stories that relate to us and used interesting visual props. So creative and entertaining! I want to try their other rooms and hopefully one day visit in person :)

Enjoyed our team day @ Escapist Forsaken Farmhouse. Bunch of social workers over analysing every clue bahahaha. Love it would recommend for a fun hour!

Had a great time, the staff were really engaged and keen to immerse us in the experience which was awesome. The room we did was very interactive, only one key and lock then everything else was built into the room. So much fun, highly recommend!

Had an awesome time. Staff were really helpful at hiding the gifts for the kids to find in the rooms. They were also helpful at identifying appropriate board games for them to play while waiting.

I recently did the online Red Hill Asylum escape room and it was so much fun! It was very interactive with lots of pictures and clues, and the puzzles decently challenging! Pam was especially amazing as our live host, and made the experience thoroughly enjoyable. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to do an escape room with friends in different cities!

By far the coolest place! The rooms themselves are set up amazingly but if that doesn't impress you, the staff sure will! The enthusiasm when they tell the backstory for the game is on point 👌 I've been twice and already know which 1 I'm doing next 😍

We experienced the Forsaken Farmhouse. Was great fun with a few surprises along the way. We turned up early and enjoyed a few quick card games in the cafe area until we were able to start the escape room. For the whole package and experience, I totally recommend The Escapist!!

I have played many escape room businesses... We love them. But Escapist is by far more superior. I love the vibe, the facilities and especially the staff. They're fun and informative and really want you to have the best time. I really enjoy the board game cafe.... There are cafe tables, great hot drinks, baking and snacks. And along one wall are stacks of cool and interesting games to try - well beyond scrabble and monopoly. Hours of fun...why go anywhere else!!

Hamilton's hidden gem. It's obvious to see the owners passion of solving puzzles and mysteries through trying to escape a room. The escape rooms are updated regularly and creativity laid out for you to solve. Whether you are wanting an bonding experience with your colleagues or a hens night or an evening with the kids this is a great way to spend a couple of hours to make memories. They also have excellent customer service and board game selection where you can play top rated board games free for two hours. Based in the city center you can go out and get a drink/dinner and walk to The Escapist. Reasonably priced and a great way to break up the night. Absolutely brilliant!

This is my new favourite place! The staff are super friendly and helpful and there is a massive selection of games to choose from for people with all abilities. The escape rooms are probably the best ones I've seen in Hamilton with amazing attention to detail and a lot of thought put into them. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting a fun experience in Hamilton with family or friends.

This place was really fun, enjoyed doing the bewitched escape room. Clever and interesting puzzles. Great for a slightly larger group. Staff really helpful and enthusiastic about their job. Highly recommend this place.

We had such a fantastic time with our first escape room experience we did another straight away! Fabulous challenges in an awesome atmosphere with lovely helpful staff. The board games were a complete bonus. We'll be back soon to try Heist again!

We did the Heist room for my daughter's 12th birthday. It was amazing! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are really well setup. There are so many awesome board games to try afterwards. Can't wait to try the other escape rooms.

We had a blast, the experience is amazing and engaging. And having a space to play boardgames was a perfect way to unwind from the escape room. Highly recommends this place just on the customer service alone.

The Hosts are friendly and welcoming as always. The atmosphere is relaxing and comforting to the point that if you stayed for a few hours; you wouldn’t even notice the time. Such fresh ideas in the escape rooms, always a pleasure to come and have some fun!

Came here specifically to try out the boardgame collection, and had a great time. A good selection of games, staff who can help you with setting up the games, and a reasonable selection of snacks and drinks available for purchase. I can't comment on the escape rooms, but several groups came through for them while we were there, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The premises are a little hard to find and the building elevator is broken, but those are the only slight flaws. Apart from that, a great experience.

I have played both rooms here already and they are beautifully presented with unique challenges I haven't seen before. Can't wait for the new room!! Update 30.9.20. I have had continued great experiences at escapist. The new Heist 2.0 room is hands down the best escape room I’ve played. We had a group of 6 experienced players and still completed less than 1/2 the content. Well done to the crew at escapist for designing a challenging room that I want to play more than once!

Loved the escape rooms! The puzzles were surprising and unique. Heaps of fun to solve! I may have been quite scared in the Farmhouse room... but it was good motivation to get moving! 😂 Both rooms were decorated awesomely. Would definitely go again. Looking forward to any new rooms that open! Might stay for some board games after this time too 😊

I have been to confinement, perplexity, and lilliput fun zone escape room. Escapist definitely beats them all!! The rooms are challenging and so fun! The staff are super friendly and you can tell they genuinely love working there. It is definitely worth the money. The experience is so awesome! 10/10 would recommend going to Escapist!! It is amazing the escape rooms are astounding and they have a wide selection of games to play with and they are so much fun you should definitely take your family and friends here for a game night. I love going there with my family.

Its quite well hidden, so you have to go looking; following the signs upstairs from the main entrance. Lot's of fun and pretty challenging escape rooms. The staff are great, really friendly and helpful. Do take the time to have a coffee and play some of their great board games after your Escape.

These guys do awesome escape rooms!! As a group we appreciated their effort and enthusiasm. The rooms have incredible detail and were super fun! We still have 1 more room to do. I am counting the days we go back and try it. Keep up the good work!

Wow!!! Best money I have spent on entertainment in Hamilton !! Firstly the staff Geoff and Pam were absolutely amazing!! Pam was extremely friendly, helpful and patient. She taught us two board games that she recommended us trying and they were loads of fun !!! We had a lovely coffee and cake also while playing our board games. Then we went and did an escape room !! It was sooo much fun !! I can’t wait to come back to do another room !! I also really loved that the cafe and board games were really clean !! They also said we could bring our own take aways in which was an absolute bonus and we definitely will do this next time !! Geoff went over and beyond in helping us . There was actually no rooms available but he did all he could to fit us in . I def will be back and I recommend you try it !! The friendliest staff ever ! We also got a discount code for our next escape room experience !! I have one recommendation for the owners - I think a visual leader board in the cafe of how fast each room gets done so you can get bragging rights and it might make it even more competitive. The room has a timer but I had no idea if our time was good or not so something to beat might add more pressure or thrill ?!

Fantastic place. We did the Tzolk'In room with 3 x 12yrs and unders. Excellent for unexperienced escape room people like us! Great venue. Cool board games to play before or after your room. Great staff.

Escape rooms are so much fun and the board game nights are the best - we are regulars now. The staff are why we keep coming back - always a warm welcome for us and in a cool and relax environment. Well worth the visit- board games and escape rooms with brownies and coffee too. What more could you want.

We (myself, husband, son, son's girlfriend and son's friend) tried the Copperfield online escape room tonight and had a great time. It was so nice to be able to do something fun like this while in lockdown, from our three separate bubbles in Auckland. Scott was an excellent guide/storyteller and we managed to get pretty far before we got a bit stuck and needed a clue, then we made it out with only a few minutes to spare. It was a good mixture of different puzzles to solve. The team at Escapist obviously put a lot of effort into it. Not bad value for the money on a per person basis. Looking forward to trying more: there's one more online available now and two pending.

10/10 recommend Best decoration and mood hands down! High quality prop and design give a highly immersive experience. Game mechanics, puzzle, and logic are well thought out and interesting. More than just your number lock and pad lock puzzle rooms. Had a couple of small snag with the unlocking mechanism, but should be fixed in no time. Owners were super nice and let us finish till past opening hours.

Immersive escape rooms, very nice cafe area to hang out in, well air conditioned. Especially to get out of the summer heat. Great customer service and staff are always happy to help. Can't recommend it enough - best escape room/board game cafe in Hamilton!

I thought the Escapist included everything you would want. This place includes, Escape rooms that were intricate, detailed, had theme based clues and looked amazing. There is also a cafe with a range of different boardgames to learn and play. The staff are all happy, helpful and inclusive. Great team!! can't wait to go back!!!

Came here to do the Forsaken Farmhouse escape room with a group of friends. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it. It was just the right level of challenge and kept us all engaged for almost the full hour. Will definitely be coming back to try out another room!

Loved our time at Escapist in Hamilton. The Aztec room was fun to do with 5 of us and it was a great way to celebrate a 19th Birthday too. The coffees are fabulous and the pastries and sweets, yummy. Great experience with Pam and the team at Escapist! Went back a couple days later to do their second escape room and loved it too! Spooky, but a great brain teaser. The boardgames/cafe were a fun addition to the whole experience. (& the cronut was mouthwatering YUM)

Great escape rooms. Well designed and deliver good puzzles. They have a huge range of board games as well to play with after. They have a stocked fridge of cold drinks and can make coffee and hot chocolates to chill out with after. Definatly reccomend.

Good themes and stories for each of the rooms which also supports co-op scenarios/stories for larger groups on request. Site also has plenty of board and card games to play and/or purchase, and has recently obtained VR Headsets for usage at reasonable prices. Friendly and helpful staff can help with any needs and their mailing list is non intrusive/spammy if you choose to sign up :)

Had an awesome time here in their horror themed escape room. A really enthusiastic story teller and really immersive rooms, loved having a nice coffee and some board games after, huge selection of board games so if you're looking for a fun time or chill night with some friends, I can wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Went for my birthday. We all had so much fun. The escape room was lots of fun and amazing. Lots of great bored games to choose from. Everyone is so friendly and nice.

Such a cool local business! We did the Bewitched room, which is done with two cooperative teams. Unique and spooky 👻 The coffee is great, a nice selection of boardgames to play in a chill atmoshpere, and the owners and staff are super nice!

Great fun, with some really neat tricks and traps trying to get out of the room. The hosts helped to create atmosphere to make the whole experience complete. Absolutely will be back again one day.

What an hour!! With 9 seconds to go we escaped. So much fun which I would recommend to anyone. Staff were great and the hot chocolate was seriously amazing. My friends and I are ready to make another booking!!

Really enjoyed the escape room, did the Bewitched room and splitting the group into to was a really great spin on it and communicateto force our group well. Love the Board games too, such a great place, will definitely be back!

My Misty Flicks group and I had a fabulous experience here. We did the witch themed double rooms, and they were amazing. Unique puzzles. Highly recommend.

We went to Escapist as a business team to play, learn from each other and see each team member's super powers in action. If you are in a leadership capacity and looking at ways to build trust, guide healthy conflict, establish commitment, accountability and become results oriented as opposed to ego driven in your team then I highly recommend Escapist as a regular offsite exercise. They have a board room and cafe to debrief afterward and the challenges in their escape rooms are really diverse allowing for all to shine. A highly recommended investment into what is the most valuable in your organisation: your team.

Absolutely great! My group and I had so much fun doing the puzzles then playing board games while drinking coffee 🤩 definitely going back!!!!

If Jesus could choose any rounded in house entertainment venue, the escapist would take it. Sorry, not sorry Skycity. The best staff in all of the Waikato, Scott's somewhat of a legend around these parts, and tea to match. Maybe it's just a British thing but seriously, try the tea.. They only thing that would possibly make this place any better would be to add in bundles of kittens, but then the games would take twice as long and the amount of board game pieces knocked off onto the floor would increase by a good 2600%, and that's a lot. So maybe hold off on the kittens.

Awesome team,they really get into it making sure you get the most of your time there. By the end of it I didn’t want to escape! Attention to detail was amazing, Definitely recommend this if your looking for something to do with your friends or the family!

The story telling was great. It was a great experience all around as a team building exercise or for an interesting date. Would highly recommend. The experience leaves you feeling intelligent and shows you that you are a capable person.

Best entertainment you can get in Hamilton! 100% recommend their farmhouse escape room, what an experience!

Gotta be one of the best bunch of people around and there escape rooms are too. Spent soo much money playing the Heist room lol but soo worth it.

The escape room was great, but when we played some games after the game room was really echoey which made it really hard to hear. Maybe some carpet or something may make it better?

Great rooms. We have done a few rooms now and this was a bit different, particularly the treasure room. Awesome work guys!

Absolutely great! My group and I had so much fun doing the puzzles then playing board games while drinking coffee 🤩 definitely going back!!!!

The team are amazing they go above and beyond. The rooms are the best I've done. Great quality fully immersive with light sound props and great puzzles to solve. Plus you can stay and try different games in the air conditioned cafe! Yumm hot chocolate, and mermaid lattes.
