Stunning some work and surroundings make this a must see, it's so close to the main route, just make some time

Well I found it interesting to see just how well built this very old house is.
The families story is an epic of survival in an inhospitable environment.
Go see it after you check out Alexandra and the vineyards.

We have past this place 100's of time on the main road but never called in.
This trip we made a special trip up a gravel road to view Mitchells Cottage.
WOW it is amazing to think he came from the Shetland Islands (where we've actually been) and ponder on how 10 children could be brought up in this cottage, shows how tough Shetland Islanders are...
WELL WORTH A VISIT !!!!

Extraordinary piece of history.
Craftmanship amazing.
Love the stone fence posts.
What stories of life the place holds.
How did 10 children & 2 adults live there.

Surprisingly nice and interesting place to visit a bit off the beaten track, do note that it is up a narrow gravel road and there is limited parking and turning options for larger vehicles.

Fascinating place to visit. Amazing stonemason work from the very early settlers in the area. Shame the little walk up the back was now fenced off, but still worth a visit.
