Reviews of Ferrymead Heritage Park

Attended the first night market. 2$ entry. Great food on offer, wandering around looking at life gone by. Train ride. A lovely evening.

Not busy mid week the day I went and number of exhibits were shut. Better time to go would be weekend when most things are open. Big area to cover and no where available to get food and drink while in park but that could be different on a weekend.

Today we visited Ferrymead Heritage Park. As someone new to ChCh it was my first time to the park. We had a great time, especially with the Tram, where the driver and conductor were keen to talk to us about everything about the history of the trams. As well as showing us how everything worked and a thorough knowledge of the history of the tram.
Also Ross, one of the may helpers on site, went above and beyond when taking us around the model railway exhibit. The knowledge and attention to detail he showed were second to none. He made our day!! it was great to see the inner workings of the model railway exhibit!!
We loved all the exhibits but the dedication of the staff to prepare everything and also be able to answer all our questions was admirable.
In summary...loved it all...keep up the good work!!!

If you have a spare few hours whilst in Christchurch you really should visit the Ferrymead Heritage Park. Something I have always thought about but at last decided to take my family there for our 'Big Day Out.
Amazing value for money I have to say .
You need to check the website rather than me bore you with endless descriptions of what we saw and did .
Highlight was the Rail Car ride/s. This park is beyond description other than saying you would not be disappointed. Every area is very well presented and displayed.
As the famous tea advert says -'do try it '.

Very cool museum. You can catch a ride on a tram around the park or easily walk it. They have many old shops and houses that are set up as though you're walking through them last century with heaps of old antiqes at every stop. Great way to spend 2-3 hours of the day.

Wow, what an amazing historic village, just stunning. This is a must see for all kiwis and tourists when in Christchurch.

Very decent and simple place with history. It's really nice especially when not much people around. People working there were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back once in a while.

Great night market with a wonderful atmosphere. Big selection of food including vegan/vegetarian options. $2 entry and everything was priced very reasonably. Loved it and will return when I'm next in Chch at the right time.

Had not visited Ferrymead for quite a while. So was pleasantly surprised to see how it much it has grown up and is now pretty much matching the grand plans laid out nearly 60 years ago now for the site.
The highlights were the hall of flames and riding on the tram. Trains weren't running the day we visited but the trams were and the tram ride was long enough and seemed equally as noisy and bumpy as the trams in town are alike which I thi knwas close to how they actually used to be in real life. Back in the day.
All up the entry fee was a reasonable cost for a family visit. And during weekends there would be enough things happening to keep the kids entertained for an afternoon.

Wonderful place to explore, spread out over a large area.
