Great place to visit. Always interesting art exhibitions and lovely NZ Artists wares to purchase. What makes it a great place to visit is that you can also stop and have a delicious meal before/after youve had a look in the gallery. If its a lovely day, you can sit outside in pleasant surroundings and enjoy the day

We love stopping here either on our way to Akoroa or just as an outing from Christchurch. A really lovely cafe with a great outdoor setting. A lovely choice of cabinet food and outstanding menu options. I highly recommend a stop here.

Very interesting Gallery . Personally I'm not into paintings but had a wide variety of other arts .

Lots of different styles of art: metalwork, glass, paintings, candles, wood, ceramic etc. Cafe next door with delicious salmon frittata. Great little place to stop and have a break.

I was disappointed the kitchen was closed at 1422 and could not have toast and eggs. Had to revert to the cabinet food. The vegetarian pie was terrific and a worthy substitute.

Great coffee and a very tasty date scone. Lovely sitting out back in the outdoor seating area.

I tend to stop in for refreshments on my way past. There's a nice local feel to the place and they food is pretty good.

If you want we excellent food, excellent service, excellent coffee, excellent atmosphere, excellent incredible art gallery, you will always stop here. It's an incredible place, which I love very much.

Great food and lovely if you can get a seat outside under the trees always a pleasant place to stop for a rest

Stopped for lunch. This place is always busy so pays to avoid peak times. Food is amazing. Coffee also great.

Stunning selection of food. Gluten-free options heaps of them. Low carb and keto also heaps to choose from. Great wee stop off or destination.

Beautiful artisan jewelley and art work- well worth the drive- plus the cafe hsve scrummy yummy food!

Having such a wonderful gallery to visit after a very tasty lunch has to be worth the drive out.

Good selection of cabinet good friendly service plenty seating outdoors as well. Lot of local artists displays however very expensive.

Stopped here on the way to Akaroa. Nice for a short stop and walk around the gallery. Have yourself an ice cream for this summer.

Lovely food, awesome art and great books

Amazing!!!! We stopped for a coffee and were not disappointed. Despite being Easter Sunday, we didn't wait long between ordering and receiving our drinks and food, we even found a shady spot in the garden to sit. The date and citrus scones served with cream and marmalade were to die for. We will go back again for sure.

Everytime you visit this place its wonderful, people are very talented

This is one of my favourite places. It is a destination on its own, not just a place to visit on the way to Akaroa.

Great little place and interesting museum

Amazing arty delicious little place.

Beautiful with a fancy variety of gifts and goods

Had rung on sat n booked a table at 1 for 8pax. Arrived at our booked time only to be spoken to very rudely there was no booking. Was told that they don't take booking for less then 10 , felt like I was being told I was lying. Was told we could sit outside in the freezing cold with two kids no thanks. They then shoved some tables together in a very uncomfortable corner. We then moved to the table next to us when they left. Took ages to get water. Food was really good, only reason I gave 3 stars. Service needs alot if work!!

Gallery displaying art from a variety of artists. Original paintings, prints, jewellery, books and a range of pottery items as well as some kiwiana. Can be $$$

This is a great place to stop. There are several little activities all located together - crafty gift shop, small 'history'room, the cafe, gift ahop and art gallery. The old train station and little 'museum room' offers a bit of history of the area. My daughter had a cheese cake brownie, which was really good. But we didn't have any other food there, but it was busy with people having coffee and food. The art gallery was actually very very good. Interesting artists with art that challenged as well as visually appealing. I loved many of the sculptures and outside there is metal garden art. A great place to stop and spend an hour or so. Highly recommend it

Interesting place with great art work

Highly recommended. Some wonderful exhibits from many talented artists. Only disappointing thing were that staff didn't acknowledge many of the visitors. Cafe attached smelt really delicious but didn't end up getting anything

NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING. IF THIS WERE A STATEMENT OF NZ ART , CRAFTS AND BOOKS IT CERTAINLY IS RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE BEST I HAVE SEEN. THE NZ BOOKS ARE CERTAINLY AN AMAZING SMALL AND TARGETED COLLECTION OF CURRENT PUBLICATIONS NOT REALLY SEEN IN ONE PLACE IN OTHER SHOPS. KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK.
