Y.Nice and easy bike track, not much challenge, just some parts have small stone on road.
R.Absolutely FABULOUS. Our best cycling experience yet. The wonders of our Pioneers. This Rail Trail seemed downhill both ways. Bird life on the lagoon incredible seeing us stop often to observe and admire. The fresh vibrance of Springtime a sight to behold. And of course the Jewel in the Crown. Lunch at the Cafe never fails to please. Fantastic selection, staff and atmosphere at this iconic gem. Thank you 🌹
G.Great little entrance in the historic Motukarara Railway Station. Good road signs to come in off the Akaroa Highway. From this point the track follows the old rail course so beautiful sweeping views even if the riding isnt hugely exciting. There is water here and even some bike racks and points to tie up your horse while you wait for the next train to come.
L.I love this ride. It's not challenging, but it's peaceful, pretty and I always come away feeling content and buoyed up.
I.Rode from Motukarara to little river and back. Beautiful tranquil ride, awesome bird life. Great to see the lakes from bike as driving past you miss so much. Best bit was lunch at little river😀
J.Bit overgrown this time of year, but a nice ride from Lincoln to motukarara.
P.Apparently horses can't read the "no horses" sign - couldn't see it to start with, my view was blocked by 8-10 horses.
P.Motokuara to Little River is the best part. Avoid doing it when a southerly is blowing as a bit exposed to start with. There’s not a lot of shelter so take water (or wine! ) Ok tequila if you must lol
C.Very easy ride, there can be a few sheep to contend with on the trail.
