It's a nice experience to do in Christchurch. If u have kids they will love to touch water and watching all the ducks swim by I will definitely recommend it. My punting driver was nice and I enjoyed our discussions. If u don't have kids I will still recommend it. The view and feel is romantic.

My husband and I booked in a private punt earlier this month to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My goodness me, what a delightful experience! I think our punter was called Theo and he was absolutely lovely. It was a smooth ride and the information he provided as we glided along was quite interesting. On the whole it was such a relaxing experience and I was so excited to see so many birds on our trip along the river. I would recommend it as a way to see another side of Christchurch.

Nice and relaxing, beautiful location and great boat accommodated all 10 of us. Since there are limited spaces it's better to book in advance. There are paid street parking all around but could be crowded with all the tourist around.

We bought a day pass for the Gondola ride, Tramway and Punting, all in all a very enjoyable experience. Punting on the Avon is a delight in springtime with the trees and flowers in blossom. There were masses of daffodils, and the birdlife was amazing with waterfowl pairing up and nesting plus many ducklings around. Our punter was very friendly and kept up an informative but low key patter while we relaxed with our friends in the sunshine. They even provided us with blankets and hot water bottles! A very relaxing and enjoyable time.

I absolutely LOVED this punting experience. The boat ride was so peaceful and our guide was very informative. We sat at the front and managed to hear him perfectly. It was very relaxing and at 10am it was serene and warm and the water was very calm. I would definitely recommend this trip in Christchurch. It was a perfect day to have a first time Punt on the river with hubby and mum. We were in a boat within 10 minutes of walking in. A blanket was a nice addition. Tom was our guide and he did a fabulous job as well as being very informative. A very relaxing and enjoyable way to see a beautiful part of Hagley Park. Well worth it and we bought the Gondola/Punt package.

Punting on the Avon was a real fun activity. I booked this 30-minute ride which was really good. Our punter was funny & friendly. The weather was a bit cold so they gave me a blanket also before beginning the ride. I highly recommend this if you are in Christchurch.

We took half hr ride.. feels like you are in Venice . Nice greenery. They entertain you with some fun facts . Loved their attire . If you are an Indian and you know bollywood the song you'll be reminded of is "do labzo ki hai dil ki kahani " .

When my wife first said she wanted to go punting, I had my doubts. But I'm glad we did it. It was a nice family activity and we all enjoyed it. The guide was great and very knowledgeable about the area, he even jumped over a bridge. Afterwards we walk around the botanical garden and just had such a nice day.

Was a bit hesistant initially, as i am not very comfortable in small boats. But it turned out to be a great decision. It was such an amazingly peaceful ride. The river is not very deep and moves so sedately it is almost meditative. The punting has been created in the English style and is a definite must do in Christchurch

Awesome really. Not sure if they are involved in the up keep of the river too. When we were there, the grass and weeds were tall looking a bit messy. I'm pretty sure it is not the Punting company's responsibility. I guess, what I'm trying to say is that the river would have been a perfect sight to behold if it were maintained diligently for the tourists. Other than that, awesome experience. It is a must!

I had a great time during my boat ride. I guess there’s no much too see and the history of Christchurch is not so extensive but if you had nothing else to do during your stay you could do it. I’d recommend to get the ticket offer that includes more attractions and not only this so you can save some money.

Biggest complaint is that its rather short compared to all the other punting experiences I've had in other countries. 30 minutes vs a little over an over for similar prices. It is a lovely way to just sit back on a nice sunny day and get an alternative view point of the city and enjoy nature moving around you.

The punting experience was great. We had a private tour which was great and very interesting because our punter, Danny, was really friendly and very well-inforned. On a perfect day there can be very few more relaxing things than a punt in the Avon. The photo pack was a little disappointing and a little attention to technique could solve this minor issue.

Very nice experience in the very shallow stream. just about 30 min of going in the gondola, canoe type which one person will be paddleing for you. Up to 8 people can go on it and the paddlers will be giving you information about the importance of the stream and the city.

The day was glorious with warm sunshine, blue skies and a gentle breeze. The base crew were really friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the experience of taking a punt along the Avon river. This runs through the middle of Canterbury yet when travelling along you seemed to be miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our punt was pushed a long by a young man who explained many facts and interesting features along the way. The experience was excellent and great value for money and we delayed our departure from Canterbury to take in the opportunity. Well worth it.

On a mid-Winter morning, we were the only boat on the Avon; we were told told that the river is a much more crowded during the warmer-weather months.

Superb experience. This is a 30 minute ride upstream on the Avon River starting at 2 Cambridge terrace. Nice views of the botanic gardens and the Christchurch hospital.
