Building is beautiful to look at and the gardens are lovely too. Sports museum upstairs is cool.
C.
Friendly lady behind the desk when I was there and absolutely lovely art. I really enjoyed it and Im sad we can’t take pictures, I literally wanted to take photos of everything but I understand it.
Was very nice and I ended up following some of these artists on Instagram so that’s better than nothing!
T.
A very "bland " experience we visited because of the location/ train station in which the art society is held the art averagly displayed, no vibes, music, nothing to explain why the Art society is even in such a fabulous building, we felt that the train station needs to be part of the experience no history at all about this fabulous building, most shut up, the Sports History Museum also shut, a pub, shut, the outside of the building had scaffolding we assume for cleaning ...so disappointing this is the one building with bit of history and photo that Dunedin is known for, "poetic license" come on Dunedin!
D.
Very historical building. Night time looking very nice as well. Also city center has many old historical building, they're all in walking distance.
A.
We visited on artist demonstration day. Great to see so many different artists at work and so many different styles of art.
My girls and I had fun having a go at printmaking too.
B.
This can be something that is easily missed since it's located on the first floor of the Railway Station. Just head up the stairs from the entrance area and it should be just at the top of the stairs. There are signs at the bottom of the stairs for it.
You start off in the gift shop but you can wander through the multiple rooms of the exhibit. They have painting as well as sculptures. The rooms are quite spacious and full of natural light so it is quite a nice place to look around. The windows also look out to the railway tracks. There are a few paintings which are of famous landmarks so its a nice way to tick (or add) things off your list.
J.
Amazing place if you like old architecture
C.
Great asset for Dunedin. Worth a visit. Really well run, mainly by volunteers. Some very good works of art at reasonable prices. If you don't want to walk up the stairs theres a not very obvious lift off the left side of the foyer. Open from 10 am to 4pm.
J.
Take a scooter and spend the time in this area. Dunedin is full of historical buildings and this one is exceptional!
s.
Sports museum is certainly worth a visit needs to stay in dunedin where it belongs
T.
We went there to see the railway station but we ended up spending almost an hour in art society's galleries. Free, very enjoyable, interesting art pieces.
J.
Met a quilting portrait artist her work was amazing.. I like visiting art works when I can also loved the setting of the old railway station.. it must have been very grand in its day well worth the visit overall
P.
Nice place to visit. Always something interesting to look at.
R.
This old railway station is a must visit whilst in Dunedin, plus the art exhibition within and the countries Sports Hall of Fame. This is such a beautifully built and maintained building, and deserves it's highest heritage protection, should always remain accessible to the people of New Zealand and world visitors.
J.
I enjoyed the environment for viewing the art exhibition.
C.
I was suprised when I went for a visit.
My daughter was exhibiting, I was so proud to see her art on the wall.
There is a wide variety of art and sculpture to be seen within 4 rooms.
Its upstairs in the most beautiful building.
Not sure if theirs a lift?
Toilets, yes.
Parking is on street.
Two minute walk to center city for food and drink
Tourist train leaves from this station.
Worth a look
T.
Good range of art to view and purchase.
B.
Well maintained fantastic building and gardens
P.
The picturesque Dunedin Railway Station earned its architect George Troup the nickname "Gingerbread George" and a knighthood from the king.
K.
This is a fantastic shop. It features lots of work by local artists at affordable prices. The artists themselves hang out at the shop & work the till so you can occasionally meet the person you're buying from. Really beautiful pieces to buy here. Thoroughly recommended when visiting Dunedin. Go up the stairs from the Railway Station to find it (follow the signs for the sports museum).
J.
A beautiful gallery within a gorgeous building. I accidentally spent an hour here simply looking around the train station and admiring the artwork. Perhaps the best part was that it is free! This place is worth a visit, even if you are not that into art (like myself).
A.
It's a pretty nice place we had a good time ☺
L.
Been here twice. They change it up I guess. It's a lovely building, and air conditioned. There's all sorts of types of art here so there's something here for everyone to gander at.
Took about a half hour to an hour? Could've stayed longer
Will probably go again on a nice walk.
M.
Worth the visit, and inside one of Dunedins most stunning buildings
P.
Free to enter it show cases the artwork of local artists, many of which are for sale and at some very reasonable prices. Just the one we both likes was a bit on the big size top go under my seat on the plane. We both loved the exhibition and agreed that some of the talent on show here was better than many of the paintings that are raved about in art galleries. Go have a look you may well could be surprised.
S.
It's nice. But don't think a fair decision was made on the ranking of some painting/gallery.

(Translated) It’s worth checking out some of their paintings. Some of them are cheap. If you like, you can take them home. I bought one last time. I didn’t meet Xinyi this time, but there are many styles of paintings to appreciate.
(Original)
值得去看看他们的画作 有的很便宜 喜欢的话可以带回家 上次来买了一副 这次没有遇到心怡的 不过有很多风格的画作 可以鉴赏
