Small but beautiful. Some lovely Rita Angus paintings. Its worth checking out the base of the clock tower nearby -visible workings.

A true treasure.
New exhibitions plus more room for the Money collection. This is a cultural treasure and interesting for any one who likes art.
The Money collection has items from Mali and works Of Rita Angus from New Zealabd as well as lots of unusual pieces.
Mark Brown's collection ranges from Cook to self portraits. A joy to view and cheered up a grey day.
The Ralph Hotere exhibition was very interesting.
Len Lye had a moving rod work that is called Leaves of Grass.
Lots of parking by visitor centre. Easy to find and toilets on site. No cafe and friendly staff.
No cost but donations happily excepted.
In the centre of Gore.

The John Money collection has excellent African figurines some made of brass.
A better legacy than his quack psychology writings influenced by discredited anthropologist Margaret Mead.

Superb gallery... well worth planning it into your trip

Good variety of styles and artists. Famous for Ralph Hotere, which I must admit I'm not a huge fan of.

I had been told it was a controversial collection and after my visit I can fully confirm that

With the sound of steady rain on the roof and the quiet from within. I sat softly watching Len Lye's "Grass" 1961. I was transformed to the dunes of Oreti Beach. I could smell the salt ladden air.

Neaty Quiet and beautiful. A very good building with good paintings. The staff was friendly. Recommend to everyone who is interested in art. And who wants to take a small rest here.

This is an unexpected gem for a rural community. Free entry to a great collection and variety of art located in a lovely old building. If you are passing through Gore, be sure to stop here.
