Reviews of Maungatautari Southern Enclosure
B.
What a lovely place. We went for a walk under the canopy of trees. It was lovely and cool. We sat at the clearing and saw 8 Kaka come to feed. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and eager to share their knowledge. There are loos available at the info centre. Easy walk.

Beautiful short walk in enclosed forest. Definitely worth a visit

Thoroughly looking forward to exploring more with my locals pass. Cool, quiet and easy walking but it is a mountain so goes up and down. Very friendly visitors. Everyone acknowledged everyone else.

Excellent day trip/half day trip, and suitable for all fitness levels. It is also family friendly (stroller friendly if you have one of the sporty models). We saw so many native birds while we were walking, including tui, robins, saddlebacks and more. At the information Centre they give you a map with a bird ID on the back. There is a "Toyota Kiwi Guardians" post if you have kids who like nature and adventures. It is not cheap to enter, but worth it because the money goes to ensure this nature sanctuary can remain predator free and well resourced.

Beautiful place to visit. Easy to medium walk. Great for the family. Friendly staff there too.

At the moment, Australia's Bush is going up in flames. N.Z. is fortunate to have natural temperate climate bush reserves which are being preserved by people as dedicated as the supporters of Santuary Mountain. The result is regenerating natural bush and unequalled wildlife not found elsewhere. The walks are fairly easy, the paths VERY well maintained. They deserve a decent donation when you visit.

Many thanks to staff and volunteers for their excellent work in restoring and preserving this special place.

First of all, customer service is very well performed and the staff are genuinely informative about what’s in the sanctuary.
There are lots of toilets and bathrooms on site so very handy indeed after a long drive and after the venture through the sanctuary. Also there are heaps of toilets inside the sanctuary, just watch out for those Weta’s hehehe.
There is a tariff upon entering the sanctuary. So be prepared in coughing up a bit of coin but if you have your student id is a bit cheaper ($14 student fee).
Car park has camera surveillance so if your a traveler with gear and equipment, you’ll be pleased to note that your stuff will be safe..but like all places don’t tempt people.
There are a few tracks inside the sanctuary so take water with you and snacks while you wonder around. Some are short and some are an hour long.
And of course, lots of birds in the sanctuary. So if you have long lens cameras or binoculars please take them with you so you can get better views of the wildlife.
And yes, there are Kiwi’s in there...somewhere haha so I’d talk to the staff before entering.
