Reviews of Nikau Cave & Cafe

The caves were a wonderful experience- the crawling was slightly challenging but so fun, the glow worms were absolutely stunning and the guides are friendly, patient
accommodating and knowledgeable. The tour takes 2hours, but you don't even notice the time as you are completely transported to a whole other world.
Then back at Nikau cafe- picturesque setting with the best pizza ever!! Would totally recommend this experience!

Fantastic location and delicious food. The vegetables are grown in a garden next door, the pork sausages are made with yummy wild pork and the home made lemonade is delicious! Really recommend eating here, and if you have some spare time you can also go caving (they have all the gear available for hire).
Note that they don't take credit card, and there is no phone reception here!

Friendly people out in the middle of nowhere with fantastic coffee and a beautiful backyard. The vibes are perfect

Pleasant surprise at the end of a windy trip. Beautiful fresh home made food, friendly, helpful service. Had lunch, walked the loop to the waterfall and retuned to the cafe for the most divine plum tart and homemade lemonade.

My first time in Nikau cave experience was in winter 1999. This place was not heavily advertised yet. And today its WOW !!! For the second time around the cave continued to amazed me. Stalactites and stalagmites were still intact, well preserved. The best was the close encounter with glow worms.

Talk about fantastic customer service. Kate delivered us coffee from the cafe to our broken down vehicle about 3km away.
Awesome coffee, and will definitely pop in the next time we visit this beautiful part of the country.

Great place and true gem of Caves. Get ready to crawl, get wet, Bring spare cloths and knee pads. You will love it. Way better than Waitomo. Cafe and outdoor area is beautiful with great scenery, good food and overall superb trip.

Absolutely loved our experience there! Pizzas were delicious too!

I love the rustic atmosphere, the garden you can walk around by the stream and the amazing view. The food in the cafe is really good - homemade, even the bread for toasties and the owners are very friendly. You also have the option of sitting inside or in one of the outdoor areas. There is a waterfall nearby which is well worth a visit. Good footwear is preferable as the walk to it is through Bush and paddocks. It is a great place for children also. The cave is an amazing experience. Very natural. You feel like you are actually caving and not going on a tour underground. Some fitness is required. I definitely recommend a visit here.
