Came here a couple weeks ago ( weekend) and the savoury scones were the best I've had! Food was great, ordered a fritter stack and it was superb. My sister had a German chocolate cake and it reminded us of our mothers cooking. Will be back here again. Fantastic. Can't recommend enough!!

Is there a better place for a short stop for lunch or coffee and cake than the Gallery & Café?! I think not! Thanks for a wonderful time in this beautiful environment! Love this place surrounded by an amazing nature and lots of art. The carrot cake and the caramel cheesecake are very good, the cappuccino cake a bit too high on sugar but still tasty!

Edit: The Gallery has made a full refund for the earrings I purchased, which broke the first time I wore them. I have therefore revised my rating. I hope that feedback has been given to the person who makes the earrings - the design/materials used need to be strengthened.

Great place, amazing gallery. Service and Coffee were excellent but the frangipani cake was very disappointing - very dry and no flavour - expensive at $7.

Great Cafe to come and enjoy with an awesome view, the food was amazing and coffee was also really nice 👌 only downside was the "takeaway" coffee if ordering a large seems to come out in a ( small )size cup for $6 but apart from that great experience 👍

This is in a very beautiful location with an amazing view. It seems like a very remote place for a cafe, but as we were working in the area, it was very convenient for us. We enjoyed the burgers we ordered for lunch. We didnt get time to browse the gallery, but walked past some of the impressive garden art. I can imagine in summer, this place could be quite busy.

What a wonderful hidden gem! This is a another beautiful spot to enjoy what makes this country, and this area, so gorgeous. The cafe is delightful. We had coffees and one dessert. All of which were delicious. Next time we go, we will have lunch. The menu looked great and the food I saw other customers eating, looked enticing and smelled great. So we will be back to try some more of their offerings. The views are outstanding! You can sit outside, have your tea, coffee, or meal and take in the breathtaking scenery. It's a place to dream, to write, photograph etc... There are also so many enticing works of art to inspire you. Since the art is for sale, you can take home a piece of New Zealand, if you're on holiday. Or, if you live here, you can add a beautiful piece of art made locally to your home or garden. The art gallery/gift shop is extensive. There is literally something for everyone. If you are visiting from overseas there are many smaller items you can fit into your suitcases. Most are made by New Zealand artists. There's a bespoke, local, blade/knife maker called Fehu Forge Bladesmithing. Kaleb, the artist, makes incredible Damascus blades of all sorts. He also makes custom works to your specifications. We own a Damascus chefs knife he made custom for my husband. It's the best knife we've ever owned. There are also many jewelry pieces. From handmade Tikis to fine silver and gold pieces. There is so much to choose from! The people who work here are all super helpful, professional, and nice. Whether you're from New Zealand, or you are visiting from far away, don't miss this opportunity to spend an afternoon amidst the breathtaking beauty that is this magical place. You won't regret it.

I love going to Helena bay when I am back home. The place never disappoints from the cafe to the gallery. Highly recommend going there if heading north. Our lunch was so delicious and fresh and the service is friendly and helpful.

It is an isolated location surrounded by rural, forestry and second growth native bush on the way towards the East Coast with an open view leading down a gully to the open ocean. There is a nice range of food choices and drink at the mid to late teen and early twenty. The staff are quietly busy and polite and open to meeting your needs. There is an art gallery with some very interesting pieces at a high end price range and if you are on a budget. Definitely a nice experience.

We had a group of approx 37 on a bus trip. We had booked prior to trip and given our travellers a choice of 2 dishes for lunch so the staff had an indication of the preferences. On arrival the staff very efficiently took all the orders. We didn't have a long wait at any time. Food was delicious, and the coffee was absolutely great. The staff were really lovely to our group at all times, and the place has fantastic views.

Always a favourite when we are heading through on way to coast. Lovely good and coffee. Gallery always has fantastic and eclectic pieces. Make sure you have a little walk around the sculpture garden, doesn't seem much but there are always delightful little surprises.

Wow, a stunning view great food, helpful staff, affordable, and art to look at once you are done. There is nothing not to like about this place, it really is a must visit. It can be busy, so be prepared to mill around While you are waiting for a table. But it is worth it, spent some time here and relax.

What an amazing place!! This art gallery/cafe sits in the top of the mountain, about six kilometers from the ocean. It’s surrounded by nature, everywhere you look is green. Everyone was super friendly. Had coffee, some pastries and some sandwiches. Everything was delicious. Sitting overseeing the ocean was definitely a plus!!!

No words can describe this place, it's amazing. Peter has developed everything himself, the tropical gardens are picture postcard stuff. Art gallery studio on site, amazing stuff. Cafe has good selection of food, staff friendly. Clean toilets. Peters 2 male Newfoundland dogs roam free throughout the property and are very approachable for small children. The view from the Cafe deck......... see for yourself.

Gallery: should have 5 stars for the design and variety of art on display and for sale from many New Zealand artists. Lots of beautiful large and small objects displayed indoors and outdoors in the garden. Cafe: terrible service! staff sitting and laughing and discussing what to do before closing with 30 minutes left and customers still coming in. My cheesecake was sticky with sugar and it felt like they used old butter to make it. No hot food was served anymore and this was at 16:30.

Quality art, good cafe, fantastic dog. The drive is windy, but forgivable due to the premium location overlooking Helena Bay. Fairly limited parking and there's only a steep single lane driveway that gets you to and from the road to the car park. Take care entering and exiting.

Must see! Money spent here is well spent. Amazing collection of genuine art, jewelry, garden ornaments - you name it. The lady at the gallery is very knowledgeable. You can see the love and work that went into this unique place. Remember, they close at five! Beautiful, small beaches along the road. Take your time! Drive safely!

What an absolutely magical place. We didn't have lunch here because the line was so long. However the art was gorgeous. I purchased a beautiful hair pin, and a stunning silver koru design pendant and necklace. Sadly when I got home and unwrapped my my necklace the extremely fine Stirling silver necklace was broken. I rang the store and they have offered to replace it and send to me. Thankyou for your kindness

Took a small detour from Te Araroa hiking trail to avoid the wet forest, stop by for some food (delicious btw) and this is a adorable cozy place, definitely worth stopping by. I'm usually not much for galleries but a quick peak doesn't hurt, turned out to be a long one, some really beautiful things there both indoors and outdoors.
