B.A great day out if you are interested in vintage machinery or steam locomotives. It is club of volunteers who have maintained and restored a unique collection of NZR engines. On their open days, get there early to secure a carpark otherwise you will be walking up a steep road!
T.First of all a big thank you to Dave! what a great ambassador for your Club, he made us feel very welcome and showed us around. What can i say..... the area is amazing and it takes you back in time to were life was grand. there is an open day on the first Sunday of the month so ill be back to take a ride!
R.We heard about this activity from a Facebook post. Obviously many others had too! Today was a warm autumn day and we arrived 9:40am for the 10am train ride, on purchase of tickets ($15 adult, <5yrs free) we were told first train ride is full. I asked if they were keeping count and we’d be guaranteed a ride on the second run of the train ride, as small children don’t enjoy an hour wait. Perhaps the staff were not expecting the large number of people and I am certain there were people buying tickets at 9:45am and didn’t get to ride until 12. Maybe this will be something they will reflect on after the large visitor numbers today. Other wise a fun outing for all ages, food and toilet facilities. Highly recommend.
L.Need more work on passenger control, some families been waiting for more than one hour and couldn't get on the train. Should consider hook more trailers when getting too busy. Good to have some car park marking near the entrance too.

A.A brilliant ride and having a cuppa and cake also added old world charm. The two rides avaliable are short but the history and knowledge of locals make it worth while.

W.Steam engine towing old coaches one direction and deisel loco towing a beautifully restored dining coach in the other. Plus you coukd explore the whorkshop where they were restorinf some steam locos. Run by chatty and informed volunteers. Great day out with young grandchildren.
S.Lovely little train ride. The kids found it very exciting but it really doesn't go anywhere, just along a bush track and back again. Nice as a once off trip for the kids.

W.Spent several hours at Pukemiro Junction including a trip on the train to Glen Afton. Trains and carriages are wonderfully restored. The staff are very knowledgable and very helpful. There are toilets and food available and you can wander everywhere looking at the old trains and other machines. Highly recommended.

a.the train ride was good and a fun experience, but take your own food. the food was not good at all. and the toilets were not clean, the floor in the ladies had water all over and it looked like the one toilet overflowed.
A.Very slow train through thick scrub, no views, short amount of track. Lovely staff though and a knowledgeable ticket master.

A.Need to share more info, didnt realise the $15 ticket covers more than one ride and is actually for all days use, also not told 2 trains running including the gorgeously newly renovated one, the ticket checking person stood in all the photo opportunity spots so very difficult to get photos...didn't feel it was worth driving all the way here this afternoon..in a beautiful location tho
W.Only 2 trains, but really in enjoy it. I think it worth the money. Pay $15 adults but you can ride all day if you wanted to.
F.Have a good experience but they need to put more entertainment thing like safari type or dinosaur discovery in that place. Tne train ride should be little longer.
A.What a cool little train station this is. Trains run first Sunday of the month which can get quite busy but any other time it’s open and quiet. Lovely to visit and walk around.

R.Good place to park motorhomes overnight well worth the requested donation. Sadly trains not running for passengers while there.
