W.Really nice, modern and spacious museum. Truly enjoyed "Terminus", the virtual reality exhibition that mixes kinetic art and a surreal trip experience. Totally recommend it.

T.Funky building, great cafe, good space for venue hire. Exhibitions sometimes fall a bit flat, and the square could do with some beautifying, but overall worth a visit.

S.Our family had a fun morning at the Dowse Art Museum exploring the exhibits. The virtual reality exhibit 'Terminus' was amazing! Very friendly and informative staff.
C.Visited the Dowse this past weekend and loved it! Stimulated me on every level. Staff were super duper friendly and helpful and bent over backwards to help us. The To The Moon was a virtual reality experience that blew my mind, absolutely fabulous.
Afterwards we ate at the cafe and had a to die for Asian salad.
Can’t wait to visit again ❤️

H.Lots of different rooms with all sorts of interesting and diverse displays and exhibits. The Dowse has something for everyone, not necessarily just your typical art lover. We were pleasantly surpised by the size of the galleries and the variety of things on display. It is found in Lower Hutt's Civic Center and there was plenty of parking nearby. The Dowse itself was free to enter. It provides a great opportunity to immerse yourself in a bit of art and culture. Not one for the kids though.

D.There was so much to experience. Terminus was just amazing with various virtual reality experiences via headsets. Very powerful and sometimes vertigo inducing.

p.Fantastic FREE ENTRY modern gallery - easily best attraction in lower hutt for tourists. Never too busy during the day. Ive found the exhibits from artists coupled well with an understanding of the artist workflow, hence i really liked visiting. Hope they keep up a high quality of exhibit and showcasing nz talent. Cafe, public toilet and shop inside. V wheelchair friendly, lift inside. Free tours available - call them to check dates/times.
C.A delightfully quirky gallery with good exhibitions and very helpful staff. It also has a great gallery store.

M.More than an art museum the DAM AND DS host many cultural events during the year (such as the Light Festival, Japan Day, etc.) and is the only social venue in LH large and central enough for that purpose. Now that the larger and brand-new, LH Events Centre across the road has been completed, the increased car-parks and cafes on offer will only attract more outdoor events / visitors to this Dowse venue.

T.Cool building, interesting art, great exhibits for adults and children alike. Kids will have a lot of fun with the interactive exhibits.
