A must see attraction! Absolutely outstanding. Allow 2 hours minimum to enjoy at a relaxing pace. You will be blown away! Wheelchair friendly. Heaps of spacious parking. Food & wine available. $20 senior citizen rates.

Great place to add as a stop on a day trip to Matakana. I would suggest going on a Saturday, making the most of the markets in the morning and some food, and then a trip to the Sculptureum to spend the early/late afternoon wandering the artworks and gardens. Enough to keep a family busy for an hour or two, if you have some snacks and a packed lunch (although cafe and restaurant on site).

Delightful and thought provoking. We visited for the first time recently and had the pleasure of speaking with Anthony in depth regards Alexander McQueen. It is clear the collection at the Sculptureum reflects his , verve passion and curiosity. My partner and I very much enjoyed our visit and we shall definitely visit again, there is much to see and upon which to reflect. The sculpture gardens are beautifully planted and maintained and on a hot summers day the cool pools of shade enabled you to pause and reflect on the art. The owners clearly have a liking for dogs however we managed to spot a cat curled up napping in the palm garden - almost as if it was a living sculpture. Sculptureum is a must do on your visit to Matakana. Next time there we will book for lunch as well.

Amazing collection of art. It's a paradise for art students. Also a great location for a family day out. The staff at the gallery was super nice! My only complaint was that the food took 40 mins to be ready that's due to under staff.

Gallavanted around Sculptureum in Matakana yesterday and let👏me👏tell👏you, the glass art collection is fricken mind-blowing! The palm garden walk took me back to Bali and there's some very cool quirky sculptures and art (and a Picasso, which I didn't expect). Apparently the wine is good too, but I don't drink wine so honestly I can't vouch for that 🤷‍♀️ I can vouch for the arancini and cauliflower fritters because I risked burning my mouth to eat them rather than being patient and it was totally worth it. Highlights: the beaded greyhound, the camels made of teapots and all the little aviaries dotted around the gardens.

Excellent friendly staff and a good price and nice wine tasting. The sculptures were interesting and diverse. Very much enjoyed my 2 hours here. My only gripe was the size of enclosures for the animals (most notably the birds and turtles). I could not help but think that the cages were far too small for them to live a fulfilling life.

Great day out for the family at a reasonable price, the staff were all friendly and helpful. So much to see you could easily spend all day and still not see everything, will definitely be back

Had an amazing day at the Sculptureum. You guys have a very impressive selection of very beautiful artworks from a wide artistic base. Your property is beautiful and very relaxing and rewarding to take the time to explore. Being able to contemplate with a great wine and be able to enjoy an open fire with a meal was a treat too. Everything was perfect. Thank you to you and your team for such a great vision an amazing experience and an amazing place for artists to be appreciated.

We came by for a little day trip from Auckland. The place was about 5 minutes from the Matakana town center, past the Matakana Oyster shop. There are signs that lead to the large gated entrance to the Sculptureum. You follow the signs to the parking area near the back. There is a large covered area near the front with a map of the whole place. We had pre-purchased tickets online and got the tickets at the desk inside. The inside area also doubles as a shop. There were a few places to choose from but we went with the "indoor" galleries first as the entrances were by the ticket area. The two areas here are the palm garden and the pink garden snail. I enjoyed walking through both areas. They were outdoors and they provided umbrellas in the outdoor bits. There were so many sculptures in the areas and they were all unique and interesting. I enjoy the animal ones like the ain't snail and rabbits. The carved animals were also quite nice to look at. there was also an aviary with live birds. After exiting those areas, we went across the driveway to the gallery of creative diversity outside. This area is across the bridge and there are also umbrellas available here if necessary. The walk around the area was quite enjoyable with plenty of exciting and interesting things to see. I quite enjoyed the myriad of fountains and the aviaries scattered around. I'm not sure how often the pieces get changed but they all fit in perfectly in their spots. It was a really nice place to go for a walk even with young children (4yo). Definately worth a visit to explore the artsy side of Matakana,

Sculptureum is a nice place to visit for anyone. There are many sculptures, gallaries and a little restaurant.

Absolutely amazing. World class 3D art and sculpture, just fabulous. This is a Must-see while in Matakana

Such a great place. The collection is amazing and even though I have been a few times there is always something new. Rothko on site is also amazing with a great selection of food and wine. Awesome friendly staff and a great time for young and old

How good! Came. Here with three generations of our family (including usually surly teenager) and everyone had an amazing time. Art is great - try something for everyone to enjoy and the food and drinks are excellent. Friendly and helpful staff just top everything off.

I had heard it was good, but the whole experience far exceeded expectations. Every corner, whether inside or outside, yielded more visual and mental delights. Color, color, color - brightened the winter day. From the classical to the whimsical, who could guess what might come next. Quotes from around the world and the ages seemed so apt for the setting and the moment. Great food and staff were a delight to interact with. Patrons young and old were animated and immersed in the experience. We came away refreshed and with ideas to adapt to our local environs.

Bloody amazing… brilliant artworks in the gallery and the outdoor gardens/artwork were fantastic. Will definitely be going back with the grandkids! Didn’t book at the restaurant so missed out there but you can get a platter and wine just before the indoor gallery. shame about the Warkworth traffic😕

Sculptureum is an absolute gem of a place that you must visit if you have any interest in art and sculpture. This is a spectacular collection of sculpture and decorative art thoughtfully curated and displayed. This is how art should be enjoyed. Beautifully laid out with rooms and garden walks that reflects a passionate love of art. The gardens are delightfully designed and executed to provide the perfect backdrop for the pieces on display along with the thought provoking quotations. From amusing and quirky to outstanding, every piece is displayed at its best. Take your time to enjoy your visit. The restaurant was closed when we visited. The cafe food was disappointing and cannot be recommended, however Sculptureum deserves 5 stars.

What a great place. We visited quite late in afternoon on a drizzly day but it was well worth it. Amazing outdoor sculptures and indoor art was fantastic. Well worth a visit. Was so enthralled with outdoor exhibits I took no photos!

Fabulous, well spent day with lot of sunshine, arts, crafts and an awesome wine tasting on top of a lovely restaurant. Beautiful sculptures and gardens. Must visit place in Matakhana area, only one hour drive from Central Auckland on north island.

I loved the gardens, particularly the section with the inspirational quotes, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much my boys enjoyed the park too. The food however is expensive for what it is and mostly fried food. The chicken and chips meal for kids uses a very crunchy batter which doesn't look that appetizing so perhaps order the fish and kids option if you are ordering for young children. It was also my understanding that they provide discounts for children with special needs but the staff weren't aware of it and it felt that the slight discount was reluctantly given. Overall though, it was a great experience.

Amazing!!! First time there and we loved it. Amazing sculpture's, well organized and sign posted Great for families as plenty of space and you have lots of shade as you walk around. Also a great restaurant and a casual one as well if you just want a drink Check it out!!!!

The review said that its a Haven of art, food, wine and garden, clearly an understatement. For art and sculpture lovers its a paradise for people like me who know nothing of art, this place offered so much to learn. A must visit and worth every penny paid as entry fees. The 3 zones are carefully planned and integrated with each other. I was amazed to see works for Picasso, Chagall, Rodin. Every sculpture and its placement is unique. The food and wine at Rothko were amazing, no wonder it's among the top 50 restaurants in Auckland. Staff at the museum and the restaurant is amazing and guide you well. Kids loved playing with the friendly animals. Great place will visit again.

Perhaps nice eatery, the Sculptureum is ok if you don't know what to do with your time.

Absolutely amazing. I was looking for somewhere to take my wife to celebrate our anniversary. Couldn't have made a better choice. The gardens, outdoor and indoor artwork just blew us away. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful place to visit with or without kids. We got a Grabone deal for entry and wine tasting. Staff were courteous in making the prior booking and also at the venue. Cannot recommend enough! Definitely a must do.

Worthwhile as there's a good variety of things to look at. Sculpture trail is on level ground with formed paths, easy for all ages. Just need to decide whether to have a bite to eat onsite before or after the expo 🤔😁

Really interesting walk around sculptures in different settings. Really enjoyed walking the 2 gardens and the galleries. So much to see, will be going back again, well worth the admission.

very tranquil and creative place for a day out. Food in the lawn bar is not that good and the cheap plastic cups for wines are not matched with the beautiful environment. And if the lobby can sell some art work that would be great.

Nice place for a day trip from Auckland. We love the birds. The restaurant also have delicious food.

beautiful private collection of art and peaceful gardens to wander through. if you are in auckland or surrounding areas i would recommend taking the drive to visit as it is well worth your time. everything from the art to the gardens are well cared for. the staff at the sculptureum are also lovely, informative and very welcoming. also very wheelchair accessible. we had no issues within our party getting around or seeing the art.

A fascinating place. Lots of amazing surprises. Well laid out. A great place to spend a couple of interesting hours.

It was absolutely brilliant! The gardens follow a 1.5km level loop track with the most fascinating, intriguing, and sometimes confounding installations. Then there is also a vast indoor gallery. They use different materials ranging from metal, wood, paper, to marble, ceramics, and glass. 🍷I have to admit that their wines are top notch. I don't like wine, but because I had a voucher, I thought "why not?". These were Award Winning selections with a crisp and soothing taste. It's the first time I've had wine that I will have again. We got a bit of a tasting class on how to bring out the flavours, the difference in drinking it cold and at room temperature, and how the wine can be changed into a refreshing aperitif. It was a lovely day all round, and I would totally recommend it!

A stunning collection of art works beautifully placed in gardens and in the gallery makes for a 2 hour discovery journey well worth the time and ticket price. A must see attraction in the region.

Sorry Google - gonna have to give this one 6 stars! This treasure trove of unique indoor and (mainly) outdoor art is definitely a cut above the rest. The art trail is expertly designed to be both mind blowing and serene at the same time. It's also an excellent winery and great restaurant - make sure you book well in advance. This wonderland is a real jewel!

Great place to relax. Some really amazing sculptures, mostly from overseas artists. Quite unique plantings too. And birds in aviaries, did I mention birds?

We had a fantastic time at Sculptureum. We wandered through the 6 gallery rooms filled with art and sculptures which leads to an outdoor boardwalk garden with more art and aviaries and then enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Rothco restaurant sipping Sculptureum rose and then wandered through the stunning gardens with more aviaries and THE best rabbit house you will ever see! We lay on the grass under a tree and enjoyed the beauty and peace. Brilliant relaxing day!

This place is amazing and I highly recommend a MUST see, I didn't expect so many sculptures made of so many different materials from very talented artists from around the world. Will definitely visit again. 👍 😊

Great place well worth a visit and we got tickets from bookme at a good price. Even the art room was really interesting.

What an amazing place! We stopped off this morning to check out the sculpture walk and decided to stay for a wine tasting too. The sculpture walk is amazing, well thought through and overall a lovely little stroll. There is a drink stand at the start to ensure you are well “hydrated” through out - we took the opportunity to grab a bubbles to start the walk. After we finished we totted on over to the cute little drink caravan on the main lawn and sat down for a wine tasting. 6 wines for $15 was very good and this was refunded if we bought a bottle...4 bottles later! The lady was onto it about the wines, made us feel super comfortable and she had a sense of humor too which is important! We wish we hadn’t left and had lunch here instead as the next place we visited was not up to the same standard.

A fantastically curated gallery and sculpture walk that is a feast for the eyes and senses. Delightful. The garden also offers a pleasant stroll. Ticket entry isn’t cheap, but the entire operation is immaculate and warrants the price. Sadly we were unable to get a seat at the restaurant, reservations recommended. Great for kids.

I loved it here. The gardens have a wonderful feeling of tranquility and joy. There are works of art everywhere. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff, so many umbrellas in case it rains and easy to follow paths and access ways. Took my mum who is in a wheelchair and it was easy for her to get around.

We really enjoyed our visit here. A relaxing 2 hour stroll through garden and gallery spaces with a glass of wine in hand = happiness. There's also a good restaurant on site. Just be aware that this is a personal collection rather than curated exhibition so it also includes lots of different genres and, in many cases, whimsical moments that you wouldn't see in a curated exhition. This characteristic is actually really nice. Relax and enjoy it for what it is.

Love this place nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The galleries and sculptures are something to go see. The huge pink snail and the tulips and the crocs in shoes loved it...there's lots more to see, 2hours we spent here. And it's a winery that does wine tasting what more could you ask for.....food that's here too. Come check it out.

The art is presented in a way that invites you to think and consider... to lift your head from the day to day rush and stiving.. to ask yourself why? To what end? Ranges from metal statues, glass, driftwood, formal vs. informal, art and beauty in nature (birds), quotes from influential people chosen to challenge you. Each display has notes to make them accessible to everyone. Entrance fee initially appears expensive... but there is a lot to see. You can very easily spend 2 hours. More if you sit down on the many benches to contemplate the displays. Lunch at the restaurant is pricey. Not large portions, but enough to satisfy.

The park is great place to visit. A lot car parking(FREE). There so many of difference sculptures you may see. They are also in very good quality arts, too. A very nice Cafe' in the center. It is a must visit place you shall not miss if you in the area.

An absolute go-to place for art lovers. It's got an outdoor sculpture area and an indoor one too. My personal favorites were the indoor ones. It also has a wonderful outdoor play area if you with kids and an adjoining winery. I would recommend buying the rosè wine, nice flavors to it, they do have a full bodied wine option as well but I didn't try it so can't comment.

Lovely sculptures throughout the outdoor ones are lovely and a great place for families. The ponies were do friendly as were the rabbits 🐇 Great atmosphere, great service and a lovely day out

Excellent day out. Delightful sculpture gardens, well laid out with easy walking paths. The signage provided thorough commentary and directions. Also, there were displays of thought-provoking quotations about art and life. It was an invitation to consider one's own thoughts about art. For us, this stimulated conversation, adding an intellectual and social component to the experience. Whimsical galleries, excellent restaurant! All in all, an inspirational three hours (with wine!) Highly recommend!

What a fantastic place to spend an afternoon, the gardens are amazing the sculptures are interesting and engaging. The art gallery is particularly interesting with an outstanding collection of pieces. We enjoyed meeting Anthony and hearing his story of setting up the Sculptureum. Postscript: I bought Anthony's book, The Sculptureum Story, it was a fascinating read and a great addition to our trip to the Sculptureum

Amazing setting, really well laid out, a lot of thought and planning went into putting the 3 different areas together - I was suitably impressed with the whole thing! Definitely be going back again, and enjoying some of the lovely wine they produce also, served in their fantastic restaurant.

Personally had a great experience here. Huge range of arts to get you inspire or simply take your mind off of the world going on outside. Some absolutely mind twisting exhibits and some quirky ones for all to enjoy. Pro tip: Definitely eat before, the restaurant is lacking to be honest, $3 a slice of bread with not much else to offer. Also you go and stay hydrated as you can spend quite a long time looking around if you're not in a hurry. No "coloured drinks" but water is fine in the gardens.

Exceptionally well maintained and manicured gardens and grounds. Great to see live birds and rabbits looked after well. Plenty of rock structures to look at as well as indoor art galleries. A nice restaurant on site which serves good food as well as a great selection of beers and wines

A great place to visit. Allow between one and two hours. It is very well laid out. There is an outer garden, museum/art gallery and inner garden. There is a great range of sculptures, man made and natural in the outer garden, and even live birds and rabbits. The explanations on the signs are easy to read and very informative. The museum/art gallery has a great range of pieces. The inside garden has a range of pieces from quite a few different countries and range from hand painted ceramics to animal sculptures to abstract to a huge fishing at the wharf setting at the end. There is something for everyone here, no matter what your personal preferences. The only letdown is the restaurant. It is easily booked out so you need to prebook or risk the outside menu which is VERY limited. You cannot order off the menu to eat outside if the restaurant has been booked. There are places to buy a drink outside but there is no cafe or option to the restaurant. I recommend going to the stables across the road for food then on to here. Aside from the missing cafe option this place is very good

Awesome experience, best on sunny day for sure. The gardens are perfectly laid out with great works of art all through it. Sculptureum has everything you can need restaurant and bar. They even provide some umbrellas for either shade or a spot of rain. The staff are extremely friendly and would recommend everyone to drop by and check the place out.

Fantastic sculptures and designer gardens, really peaceful & tranquil surroundings. Art gallery has amazing glass works. Really enjoyed our visit of 2.5hrs. There was a wedding taking place in the grounds as well.

What a wonderful experience and location, a must do at Matakana! The sculpture gardens, galleries, restaurant and vineyard all combine to provide hours of enjoyment.

I wanted to give one star, but I don’t think I am professional enough to judge those sculptures.. it’s a small park, one toilet. The worst experience is the outdoor restaurant Freddie’s. I ordered a charcoal prawn skewers 17 bucks- it came with three prawns on each stick.. no charcoal smell at all.. that’s it. We waited more than half an hour, but honestly, have a microwave, you can cook it in 1 min! My husband ordered fish gonjons - it’s fish and chips’s fish but in slim shape lol, probably 8 in total, 18 bucks. Both worse than my daughter’s kids fish and chips 11 bucks. I was telling my husband before we got dishes - the price is ok, no increases yet during this special period, look at fuel price! It’s quite expensive to drive here! Then slammed my face lol. In terms of the park, use my daughter’s words - mom, I want to go home, since here only has things to see and photograph, not fun..

This is a truly amazing hidden gem! We stopped by expecting a short walk around a few sculptures and left hours later awestruck at the range and quality of the displays! The indoor gallery is especially good with personalized descriptions accompanying each piece that add tremendous depth to each piece.

An AMAZING place to visit! Perfect for all ages, no matter the weather!! The experience just keeps on going, with something new around every corner! A senses overload ☺️ If you want to eat at the on-site restaurant, I’d suggest making a booking! It’s very popular!!

Wow what a fantastic pace to visit worth every penny of the entry. Beautiful grounds laid out with 100s of sculptures, old & new. Follow the path as it meanders through 4 different areas and see the very big and very small sculptures, Averys and plantings. Entry also includes entry into the art gallery which also has some wonderful pieces. Book on line before you go to get $10 off. Allow 2 hours for a slow wander around the gardens and gallery then stop at the excellent onsite restaurant. They have a great menu and service. I will be back.

Great experience, not normally into art stuff myself but went here with a friend and Wife for a day out. Can thoroughly recommend it. I enjoyed the garden areas more than the indoor areas myself but everything is well done and I think there is something here for most people. Great to do on a nice day. Took a lot of photos this day, not sure how much I should show so just uploading a couple of random shots here.

Amazing collection of art! Love the amount of the details and work that has gone into creating this. Went early on a Saturday morning and had nearly the whole place to ourselves. Got to meet the owner and he talked us through some of the art and let me feed his birds. Really loved the whole experience, would definitely recommend it!

Amazing art. Something for everyone to see. Definitely worth taking your time so you don't miss anything. Did outside garden first then had lunch followed by looking in the back two rooms. Worth taking your time... Do not rush here!!!

Its a good place to take the kids i enjoyed it. Only thing was it was crowded, but it is a popular place 😀 only regret, i didnt try the wine.

What a lovely place. A very relaxing walk through some lovely cool shaded gardens followed by a nice drop of wine in a beautiful setting. The sculptures and art collections have something that will appeal to all (and irate some - but isn't that the point). The restaurant looks lovely; however, we only tried the wine. Younger children seemed to enjoy the art but unless your teenager is the next Banksy they may prefer to be left at home. I was very surprised how busy it was although there were plenty of seats available in the restaurant and the exhibits were never crowded.

This is probably the best private art collection in New Zealand. I spotted Annie Leibovitz photos, a Picasso, Cezanne and more. The owners have a clear affinity for animals and the amount of sculptures by Kiwi and international sculptors who clearly have a keen understanding of animal anatomy and character is worth the visit. Ny accident I began talking to a man who were feeding birds there. He turned out to be Anthony Grant who owns the Sculptureum with his partner Sandra. Had a good talk about bird behaviour and sculpture.

This place is unbelievably cool! So many sculptures, thoughtful quotes and well-manicured gardens. The place is immaculate, and it's clear a lot of thought and attention goes into it. Wheelchair a& buggy accessible, and there's a restaurant there too. I thoroughly recommend The Sculptureum! :)

This is an amazing experience. 1.5 to 2.0 hours of wonderful art from all over the world... set in beautiful grounds. All on raised concrete paths so no wet feet. Five exotic bird averies and an indoor gallery. We had the platter and mulled wine to finish a wonderful afternoon. I believe the restaurant is first class. Cheers

This place is amazing. Thanks to the couple who collected all these pieces of art and shared it to all of us to appreciate. Its definitely worth the drive. Plus, the wines are top notch as well. Definitely a bonus.

Plus: Nice location, greate scenery, playground for kids, lots of parking space Minus: food looks good but nothing especial at that price point and there are lots of opportunity to improve.

A hidden gem. Wonderful variety and excellently laid out.

Enjoyed this place so much. Kids were given an activity sheet to complete with questions about the art outside and the indoor galleries, which kept them very occupied and made them more interested in reading all the information plaques to find the answers. The art was spectacular! Easily spent 2hrs strolling, reading and marveling at all the different artwork. It is abit pricey but well worth it especially on a nice day out in the garden.

Such a great experience. The gardens are lovely, well laid out with interesting plaques and some great outdoor sculptures. The indoor galleries contain some amazing and unique modern art pieces. To top it off, the restaurant, Rothko, is lovely with beautiful food. I forgot to take photos of the food, but we had the venison and the pork belly, both of which were meltingly tender and shared a side of roast pumpkin with walnuts and whipped feta. Hands down the best roast pumpkin dish ever. Sculptureum have their own wines, which are available in a tasting flight and delicious. The whole experience is highly recommended.

I had heard Sculptureum was great but I didn't realise just how great until our visit today. You can enjoy lunch & spend a good hour & a half wandering around the sculptures. They are amazing & I love the quotes. Well worth the trip & the cost.

Wow! What a fantastic place. A great way to spend a day. Sculpture parks, beautiful art collection, stunning grounds, wine tasting and food to die for. Will be back!

Great place to visit. Tickets are pricy but there are not many places in NZ like this. Good 3D art out in the garden and then there are rooms that house glass and other ceramic pieces. There is a restaurant there that serves good food. Great place to goto for a different sort of experience. I enjoyed it as the day had great weather. Not sure how much the experience would have deteriorated if it was raining.

Such an amazing and interesting experience strolling through the extensive sculpture-filled gardens. The flora is also exquisite and surprising. Allow a few hours for maximum enjoyment, take a refreshment break halfway, appreciate the cleanliness and quiet and absorb the vast variety of art on display to it's very best advantage. Only about 1.5 hours drive from Auckland and definitely well worth a visit. Highly recommended

Loved this place when I was on a charter job for Ritchie's driving a group down here; came back here with my girlfriend and enjoyed another great day. This time I had more time to better appreciate the scenery and sculptures, I was hoping to enjoy lunch here too but they were too busy. So if you want lunch, or dinner, book a table in advance, remember to ask where all the exhibits are if it's your first time, but I enjoyed it more than the Auckland museum. P.s. still not sure the history behind the bulldog since the placard was missing.

Well worth it. This place is amazing and different to anything anyone would expert. Visit this summer and you'll not regret it. Very friendly staff and excellent reception too.

Spent Friday at the Sculptureum. What a special place, fantastic meal, amazing art ( not only in the actual art itself but in the way the gardens have been created). Anthony and Sandra Grant have made a beautiful place to spend your day and relax. Time spent with my parents was very special - thank you.

Just an hour north of Auckland near Matakana is the Sculptureum garden and galleries. You’ll be stunned by the gorgeous gardens, walks and most of all the art. Creative, fun pieces carefully selected by the owners and displayed perfectly. You need time to enjoy it all. I suggest having lunch there so that you can do the first sculpture walk and then continue to do the galleries and snail garden afterwards. If you’re lucky enough to meet the owner it’s a treat, he’s full of passion and very proud of it all. He may even share a few secrets with you about some of the works. Fabulous way to spend a few hours.

Great gallery, especially with kids to keep husy. Outdoor area for drinks and food also perfect to relax afterwards. Platter was lovely, amazing chicken

Great place to have functions food is absolutely wonderful got to carried away on the stores own brews an wine had a freaken awesome New Year party if you are ever in the area its a must to drop in and try the Sculpureum .

I really enjoyed my visit here! I was given vouchers for Christmas and came up with a friend for the day and we both thought it was definitely worth the trip. It definitely took us 2 hours to meander around the whole experience, but it was totally worth it and didn't feel that long. The collection as a whole has enough to cater for any art type, and you certainly won't be bored spotting all the different things here and there. The gallery was really well curated. My favourite was the glass sculptures in the back garden. Will definitely be back.

Great food, great wine - especially the Rosè! The sculptures, art and outdoor area really adds a nice touch and is very unique! Highly recommend for a nice lunch or function.

An amazing sculpture garden. The perfect place for a walk and admire the artwork and galleries. There's a few explanations and quotations that gets you thinking, as well as some colorful birds. Definitely a stop for art lovers and alike.

This place is a hidden gem sadly its not popular as they spend millions on it I was amazed by it also the owner was very friendly to talk to. Highly recommend it and worth ever dollar

What a fantastic modern art museum! We went on a Fri afternoon and it was a relaxing, peaceful & easy stroll around the themed gardens (was a drizzly day but they have umbrellas for the guests to use). So many different art sculptures to look at, all set in beautifully manicured gardens and the indoor galleries were also awesome. We were greeted by the friendly and very informative Grace who also gave us a bit of history behind the creation of the Sculptureum and its owners with the huge creative vision & wanting to showcase their vast art collection. Finished off the afternoon at Rothko with a small cheeseboard & wine. A highly recommended day out!

Excellent food! Walk looks interesting but is a bit pricey ... NZ has lots of free interesting walks available.

Beautiful gardens. Amazing restaraunt. We were completely blown away by the service and the food. The restaraunt itself was very welcoming and beautiful. The food was served timely and the attention to detail was impeccable. We enjoyed some wine tasting with our food and were delighted by the wine selection that the sculpterum as producing at the vineyard - so we just had to leave with a bottle for ourselves to enjoy at home. Wonderful experience and would recommend to anyone.

Had a wonderful day exploring with my work colleagues for our end of year event. The day was stunning and our host for the day was lovely, knowledgeable and passionate. We then had lunch at the restaurant and that was lovely too. Highly recommended.

The art gallery is really interesting. The place is well maintained, they provide umbrella in case it rains. The sculptures are great, nice walk with quotes included in every area, unique in a way. Great place, glad to be visit here.

Wonderful collections both inside and out and great planning gives the visitor an individual appreciation of the works without feeling pushed along the one way viewing. Restaurant is good albeit expensive a great way to spend a morning and enjoy a good meal at the end - thank you for acquiring such treasures and establishing it for us to enjoy.

Way better than we expected! Immaculately kept and really appreciated the awesomeness of this place. The birds, turtles and fabulous rabbit area just finishes it off nicely ❤️

I hadn't done much research into this place and didn't expect much. It's hands down amazing. Great access for people with strollers, wheel chairs. Amazing pieces scattered throughout an amazing well cared for garden which really adds to the whole experience tremendously. My highlights were the different rock sculptures from around NZ, the drift wood animals, many of the gallery pieces. Our toddler probably liked the hugging otters, the dog he is pictured on and birds made from garden tools. It reminds me of a much smaller Hakone (Japan) Open air museum. I would say it is a little expensive at full price and should be $20-25 per person but I'm guessing they don't get enough foot traffic to lower the price as it was very peaceful when we were there on Saturday.

The gardens and sculptures are wonderful. It is a truly magical place and well worth the entry fee.

Great day out thanks Anthony & Sandra. Thankyou for sharing your art collection to the public so many people keep them hidden away...some amazing pieces. I definatley recommend the lamb...fantastic..and all the staff were great. I can see you have spent a large amount on landscaping and making this place accesible to all with ramps and level paving. Not sure there is much left after 50 dollars a head to see all three areas especially with 40 odd staff but im sure once word gets around numbers will increase. I wont show photos from inside the gallery as people should experience these for themselves. Just a suggestion, possibly a minded sculpture based playground for those with kids may assist in the near future :) thanks again we will be back.

That a collection of modern art such as this is open to the public is an achievement. Adding to that the art garden and restaurant makes it worth spending a day out.

The sculptures and gardens were delightful. Didn't eat there as they seemed rushed and under-staffed, but the Sculptureum is definitely worth a visit!

Very beautiful gardens to walk through with a lovely restaurant. The gardens/galleries have sculptures and pieces from various locations across the world. The plants are tended to nicely and look great on a sunny day. The admission price is a little bit pricy but it can make for a lovely day trip. Restaurant was excellent as was the wine. The lamb was superb and coffee was very nice also.

Being a young couple, this wasn't our usual weekend pick. But this really surpassed our expectations :D. Food was fantastic. The art exhibit was very impressive and the bird averies & large rabbit runs were a great addition.

Interesting and entertaining sculpture trails and art work worth seeing. If it is busy and you plan to eat be prepared for a wait though.

We took some international guests (2 from Belguim, 1 from the U.K., 1 from Scotland and 1 from Switzerland) a few weeks ago, and I must admit, given the history and art that surrounds them every time they walk down the street I was a little worried they'd think it was naff, but they all really enjoyed it ... especially the contemplative garden.... well done .... this place is amazing...and very, very worth a visit

Impressive collection of art and sculptures in both the inside galleries and the outside gardens. The subtropical garden setting is well maintained and a lovely place to display the many interesting sculptures scattered throughout. The cost for admission is a bit pricey but there is a late afternoon admission from 3pm to 5pm for 50% off which we used for the four of us👍A must see for all ages!!

What an amazing day I had last weekend when I visited Matakana & Sculptureum! A friend and I viewed hundreds of exhibits that amused and astounded. I also took lots of photos (I love photography), of the external gardens and was educated by the lovely staff member Amanda, who explained the art in the inside gallery. It was definitely access all areas for all as accessibility was well thought out for those who have difficulty and wheelchairs were available. My friend & I then enjoyed a lovely local glass of wine while chatting about our visit. I'm definitely going again, in spring when the flowers will hopefully be in bloom.

Amazing customer service!! The mid winter Xmas was so great. We were warmly greeted on arrival with a breakdown of events for the afternoon. The place was looking beautiful as per usual. The canapés were delicious & far more generous than expected. My 2 boys loved getting their faces painted. I can’t fault it. Your team of staff really are amazing. It really made the afternoon. Thank you so much.

Good experience indeed! The exhibition shows the owner's thinking, interpretation and presentation of different genres of art. Pretty impressed by the convenient way guided by the instructions and subtle influence from different artists. Good place to visit particularly for kids. Will go again if time permits.

Outstanding displays of some exceptional pieces of art. The gardens and garden sculptures are most impressive too. This is a real gem and it really is world-class. Highly recommended.

On our walkabouts @ the Sculptureum I found a sculpture of me ~ how good can that be?🤣 Educational and the beauty of art shared by the artist ~ this visit should be included in the educational system out at schools to encourage students if you failing in theory (reading and writing)then practical(hands on) is the way to go. For we are unique in our own way❤️

It was my second visit to Sculptureum, and I loved it as much as I did the first time. Every minute from when we walked in to be greeted by the lovely lady selling tickets, til the minute we left, was a pleasure. We wandered about the gardens and galleries for about two hours but could have stayed much longer. We didn't do the wine tasting or have a meal but both are on my to do list for my next visit

Outdoor sculpture is for the kids. Indoor galleries are more serious. Food was excellent.

This place exceeded all my expectations. Right from Grace welcoming us, explaining how and what was there to experience to the magnificent gardens, so beautiful, full of surprises. But the biggest surprise was when the founder Anthony Grant approached our little group and gave us a personal guidance through the gallery. A must for all curious about art, as this place is so inspiring.

Absolutely incredible gardens / indoor collection plus wine tasting and restaurant. Very helpful staff also. Cannot recommend highly enough - beautiful out together, displayed and maintained. An absolute must see.

This would have been a 5 star review were it not for a bowl of fries. The gardens and sculpture exhibits are amazing an well worth the vist. The entry staff are enthusiastic and friendly and so our day went exceptionally well until we ordered food. We waited 40 minutes for a bowl of fries only to be told (when we asked) that there was a 45 minute delay. No one was overly energetic about dealing with what was a pretty obvious failing. I canceled the order and we left. Had we been told at the time of ordering that there was such a delay we would have been happy to pass, had our drinks and left on a five star high. It's the small things that matter particularly when you pay a decent fee to visit a place like this. I wouldn't discourage anyone from visiting as it's a really amazing place but a superb experience was slightly tarnished by a lack of service at the end.

A wonderful experience. Don't forget to check out on either side of walkway. Lots of small art along the way. Fun for whole family. If you want to eat something at their restaurants please book in advance we forget and had to drive short way to Matakana town which was nice also.

This is an absolutely amazing place. Definitely make the time to come here and have a look. It took us about 2 and a half hours to get around but definitely worth it. We would of loved to have had lunch there but it was fully booked. So we'll definitely be back to have a meal there sometime soon. Highly recommended, put it on your list of things to do in Matakana. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely afternoon there on a beautiful day yesterday. Cool art to see, beautiful gardens. Only negative was the 2 dogs tied up at the vineyard next door the whole time. One of them barked, cried & howled. So our experience in the gardens was not quite as peaceful as it should have been. Had fish & chips in the cafe after & a glass of excellent Rosé wine. Will be going back with family members soon.

Very different to the Brick Bay sculpture park round the corner. Sculptureum is packed full of smaller pieces of sculpture and art, nestled amongst some delightful gardens. A fun afternoon out.

Food and wine is excellent and plus you get to see some world class art displays. Food was responsibly priced and delicious. Wine is excellent especially the blends. In par with some super second or second growth from Bordeaux. Dark meniscus and untransparent dark ruby colour suggest aging potential for the already 8 year old NZ wine (2013). Red summer fruit on the nose with slight hint of pepper and plum. Medium dryness, medium acidity, medium plus tannins with great complexity, balanced and long finish.. Also Ryan delivered my online order personally to my address at 8pm on the other side of Auckland. Now that is service to the extreme. I would happily buy / visit again and looking forward to trying your more recent vintages

Absolutely amazing, so much to see and so much diversity in the collection. Definitely worth every penny spent. The highlight for me was the Dale Chihuly works, as I'd seen his work in Seattle. Also an unexpected and added bonus was having a personal tour from Anthony Grant himself! Thank you for such a memorable and amazing time.

ROTHKO RESTAURANT : Very disappointed with our meal. We had heard very good things about Rothko Restaurant, so thought it would be perfect to celebrate our significant wedding anniversary. And it should have been ideal - wonderful location and ambience; friendly staff; great menu. BUT too many problems with the meal - main course was cold; one side dish was cold; another side dish was so salty we couldn't eat it; very limited wine list. A great shame.

A tranquil pleasure where one can enjoy the great art work, varied and thought provoking, funny and reflective.

Wow, what a surprise, absolutely amazing, the gardens and sculptures were fantastic, BUT the inside glass and art collection just incredible. Worth a trip from Ak to this area, an hour and half drive, spend the day, visit the beaches and you must visit sculptureum.

I believe that Sculptureum is the best immersive art experience (including that of for kids) you can get in New Zealand. It consists of two separated inside and outside areas with a diversity of art carefully and thoughtfully embedded in the environment. It is not like many galleries and museums with tons of non-engaging exhibits which you boringly walk by ending up not remembering anything at all. Every exhibit draws attention and sparks a desire to learn more. The entire exhibition took us over two hours which flew by unnoticed. Thanks to the Inna, our friendly receptionist, for the story and great introduction to the place. I was thinking why the place's founders were able to create such an amazing experience. It's likely because Sculptureum is all except work for them. Enjoy the chance to see this passion while you are in Auckland. Look forward to trying its restaurant next time.

Only saw the gallery, but it was worth the drive on its own. And there house wine are another good reason too.

It is an AMAZING place to visit! There's only one suitable vocab to describe this place and that is ...WOW!!, You'll spend the whole time walking around the galleries and gardens with your mouth open to a "Wow!" The food and service in the restaurant was described as "supreme food and service" and the wine....one glass is not enough, one bottle is not enough, so make sure you organise a ride home after your visit! Ka kite ano!

We recently had the privilege of visiting the Sculptureum and dining at the amazing restaurant. Everything about the visit was brilliant from the people to the art to the food. This is a world class establishment not to be missed. We were also lucky to meet the owners who are just as friendly and unassuming and match the environment. Brilliant!!

This place is the perfect destination for a proper Sunday day of art, relaxation and inspiration. It's probably worth taking a whole day and breaking it up with lunch in the middle as it's so full of interesting works you don't want to rush it. A world class artistic experience that we are so lucky to have.

Spent a fabulous couple of hours here. The gardens and grounds are immaculate. The outdoor sculptures are interesting and varied. The Galleries were my favourite though. I spent ages in the Glass Gallery. The Italian ceramics and Middle East tiles are stunning too. Lots of parking. Wear comfy walking shoes!

Well set out, with lots of exhibits. The people are friendly and helpful. There is wine tasting available as well as a food, beverages and toilets. Plenty of car parking, they cater for buses as well.

A nice relaxing activity to do while gaining some knowledge about the sculptures. Lots to look at including indoors and outdoors. Definitely a place to check out in matakana!

This is an attractive place to visit. From the outdoors to indoors, from your eyes to your stomach, you will not be disappointed. It is a place to visit, a place to dine, a place to relax and read a book, a place for a family, a beautiful place, a magnificent place for art, wine, and food!! Great place for functions too. It is clean, tidy friendly staffs and people!! Wow! Is the only word to summarize our visit to this place.

Loved it for sure! Wouldn't describe myself as arty but we really enjoyed both the indoor galleries and outdoor gardens. It's absolutely worth staying for dinner too; We had the tasting menu and it was amazing. Great afternoon break from the kids! ☺️

A private art collection open to the public. Just amazing, a must view when in Matakana.

A simply brilliant and pleasant surprise. I e driven by for years... what a mistake that was. Food in the cafe was exceptionally tasty and reasonably priced. As a keen photographer I the sculptures and gallery simply stunning. Well worth a visit. I would allow a good 2 hours or more to take in the gardens. Highly recommend a visit.

Amazing place to relax and spend the day! The gardens are just fantastic to relaxing and so well arranged. The Restaurant / Cafe has lots of outdoor sitting options and the staff is very lovely and explains the background of the Sculptureum. The Art is paired with beautiful flowers and plants as well as birds and rabbits. Will definitely go and visit again!

Lordy New Zealand has done it again!! Matakohe for kauri .. Gibbs for the panaramic sculpture experience and the Sculptureum for a eclectic experience for all the senses. Not world class .. better .. setting the standard for something very unique and inspiring. My 'WOW!' factor is totally exhausted .. this sort of artistic endeavour makes me so proud to be a kiwi.

What a world class amazingly fabulous place. Thank you so much for such a wonderful gift you make available for our pleasure.

Relaxing atmosphere, beautiful grounds and art

This place was great! Definitely my sort of art, way better than a lot of art museums Iv been too. We had a grabone deal, price a little steep otherwise. Really like the inside gallery. Prepare to spend about 2 hours but can be done quicker if you skip a lot of the reading. Would recommend to anyone.

Best art exhibition I've ever seen in nz. Its Pricey but a really special experience which I'd highly recommend 👍(there are discount times of year / day if the price puts you off)

Brilliant place. It’s real art

Beautiful wedding venue with a great selection of drinks and delicious food. Our guests got to check out the sculpture garden and take lots of photos between the ceremony and reception. Everyone raved about the canapes and entrees especially. Dee and the rest of the sculptureum team were amazing from planning our wedding to co-ordinating everything on the day.

We enjoyed our lunch and should have ordered half of what we did. The wine tasting is fun. The galleries are like a game of two halves. We aren't sure who the target audience is. Maybe they are targeting everyone. We enjoyed the galleries off the restaurant building. Great contemporary art. The outside gardens with rocks, birds, rabbits ...oh and some nameless sculptures and reproductions pieces don't quite hit the mark.

Beautiful sculpture garden a stone's throw from Auckland. Went here for a wedding and we were quite impressed. Gorgeous gardens with imported trees and vegetation. Very well laid out. The indoor gallery features artworks by famous artists from around the world, like Henri Matisse and Paul Cézanne. A definite must-see in the greater Auckland area.

Loved the sculptures, gardens and the service. However found the caged birds didn't fit with the sculptures. Felt sorry for them. With all the Nikau and other trees, would be nice to see birds naturally come to sculptarian.

Such an amazing location, the art collection is great and the gardens are such a great experience. Enough colour to keep the kids intrigued, the art is spread out throughout the property and can vary from Miro's paintings at the gallery to the huge whale sculpture in the middle of the garden. Their restaurant was really good too! a must visit, and will definitely come back for more.

Wine tasting with Doug (i think that was his name) was the highlight, what a great fun guy! 👏 The gallery was amazing and lunch was flawless with lovely waiters, i had the steak with a side of delicious carrots 👌 The day was perfect, the only downfall was the guy in the restaurant who over charged me and when questioned made me feel guilty for even asking. This guy needs to take a leaf out of Doug's book!

Beautifully set out. Interesting art situated in outside and inside galleries. Quite expensive but probably not over the top when the quality of the work is taken into account. Restaurant, nice coffee and delicious vegetables but otherwise so-so, very politically correct in food terms. The gliteratie will find it ticks the boxes but if you find rare meat a bit chewy and hard to digest it might be challenging.

Awesome visit, well worth going.

This place was so cool. I loved the variety of art on display, the journey of discovery through the space makes it a lot of fun. Plenty of interesting and quirky things to look at. I also liked that there was a mix on indoor and outdoor spaces. Best thing of all, they have bunnies... they were so cute. Visiting the Sculptureum is a lovely way to spend a day of your weekend

Amazing sculptures in a beautiful garden with a level footpath all the way around. There is a very interesting, unusual art gallery, and an indoor garden with sculptures to delight children as well. There is a very nice restaurant and winery. A wonderful day out of international standard. Something to please everybody. Gold Card discount.

Sculptureum never fails to please. It's my happy , magical place. I enjoyed everything and this is my second time here. There were new sculptures to see and so may photos to take. I highly recommend this place and it is a thouroughly enjoyable way to spend part of anyone's day :-)

We went yesterday and had a sumptuous midday meal there. The food was first class. Could not falter the standard of food nor the service. Best to go with a group, so that you can share the dishes. We looked at the indoor gallery which is first class, and then the outdoor exhibits. Nothing disappoints, rather it exhilaratee you. Don't miss it. Put it on your bucket list now! .

Absolutely incredible! We had no idea this was such a "best kept secret." The staff was fantastic - so friendly. The art is amazing and so entertaining. The placards not only give you some details - but with a great sense of humor! We absolutely loved every minute of it. Thank you for a great experience and we will be back! This is a great place to take visitors to. Plenty to see and some discussion promoting displays for even the most art avoiding personality.

Eclectic private collection of artwork from around the globe, tastefully arranged in both intimate galleries and expansive tropical grounds. The highlight was the exotic palm garden sprinkled with a fine assortment of charming and provocative sculptures (including a witty piece from one of the owners). There is something there for everyone. A must see for those visiting Matakana.

A good range of contemporary and traditional sculptures, set in a smart immaculately kept garden, paths easy for those with mobility issues. Impressive scale given it is all one couples personal collection. Need to make time for contemplation and enjoy some whimsical pieces, the indoor galleries should hold something for everyone to think about. Restaurant has good food, wine list and lovely staff but not for budget conscious.

Wow! Their website left me thinking that this was a small and fairly expensive experience. They have over 400 artworks and I considered it good value. The website did not allow booking for a family on days other than the weekend but you can get the family price on any day ($110 for 2 adults and 3 kids). The website also left me with the impression that there wasn’t a lot to look at, and I was wrong. Not only is there over 400 things to look at the gardens are beautiful and everything there has been carefully chosen and positioned down to the fence posts, the walkway and the plants and aviaries. Between the birds and other animals, gardens, water features, art and thoughtful design it’s an all senses experience. Often when going to something like this it’s all similar curated stuff and I don’t get why much of it is there and it’s tiring. Sculptureum is different, it’s very approachable. The theme of each successive area keeps changing keeping one engaged. My kids (12/13) loved it too. It may seem expensive but it’s excellent value for what one gets (less than 2 movie tickets but more hours of entertainment) I’d suggest booking in for lunch, going to the first area before lunch, have lunch and then do the galleries and last 2 gardens after lunch, alternatively spread visits over 2 days.

Very relaxing and interesting. Wander through the outdoor sculpture garden, a refreshing coffee before enjoying the indoor gallery and enclosed garden. A glass of wine and a chance to reminisce about the amazing, sometimes quirky, sites of the day. Would I visit again? Absolutely.👍

Definitely worth going ! Lovely art work in a beautiful setting . We took our children and they enjoyed it too.

This is a beautifully maintained property with a restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal and tasted their wines. What made this place really stand out was the staff. My mother (90) spilt red wine on her white top, the staff provided a new tea shirt a bottle of soda water, a tub to soak the top in. Thank you Rothko for your amazing attitude.

Expensive but worth the entrance fee. The sculpture Gardens are very well executed. The art galleries are also fantastic. Gallery 2 was my favourite, followed by Gallery 3. Restaurant similarly priced but the food is quite good. Def 5/5.

Fun and exciting things to look at, so many chances for photos; you'll end up filling your camera roll/gallery. Plenty of spots to sit and relax in the outdoor galleries and indoor gallery is larger than expected. Beautiful sculptures to look at over any time of the day. Restaurant onsite is a bit of a hit and miss.

Extraordinary place. Not cheap, but then when you see what they've done, it's a bargain. The vision of someone with a tremendous passion for art, and tremendously deep pockets. Incredibly well designed, it'll take a couple of hours to saunter around the gardens and galleries. Read everything...the honesty and lack of pretentious wittering should be an example to certain other art establishments! There's a classy eatery on site too.

Such a wonderful place. Followed the sculpture walks with a meal and a cocktail. Both delicious. Went midweek and the first garden was serene and beautiful. All the quotes were inspiring, and the animals were a perfect addition.

Mostly spectacular. Many stunning pieces of work but interspersed with a few tacky pieces that you wondered how they ended up there. Would like to be the curator just to edit a few of the cluttered areas particularly porcelain dogs. Well worth the money considering how well the grounds are maintained. Glass works section is amazing.

The outside exhibition is in a big garden which are beautifully planned, it's great for kids and adults! Lots of things to look at. The exhibition inside with a lot of exquisite glass are breathtaking! A must see! Then there is another smaller garden, funny! Also great for kids!!!!! I am so glad I went here! I can highly recommend a trip to Sculptureum!!!! Would definitely go back again for a visit!

Beautiful way to spend half the day. Superb food and great service at the restaurant. Well worth a visit.

While the main outdoor exhibit is quite breathtaking do not neglect the other exhibit that branches off of the main building. There is an almost secret doorway that only opens if you get close enough. Very ninja there is 3 or 4 times the exhibit material in the secondary gallery including the pink snails. Do not miss.

A reasonable amount of artwork mostly ranging from glass sculptures to mixed media ones that are larger than life. The outdoor gallery is the first I've seen but the artwork is more like a private garden than gallery. Still, it's a fun place to check out for a few hours.

Beautifully presented pieces of non pretentious art. Brilliant.

A brilliant experience for art and garden lovers. It's quite expensive but there are options as to which parts you buy a ticket for. Tickets are limited (you have to book) so the place doesn't get crowded. For families with children, the enclosed garden is probably the best bet. The owners have a very eclectic and individual taste and, while the emphasis is possibly on the more quirky end of sculpture and art, the collection as a whole does encourage the visitor to think 'outside the box' when considering what is or isn't 'art'. There is a restaurant with quite an expensive menu but it looks like a high end dining experience. All in all, an excellent addition to the attractions of this area north of Auckland.

The art here is not to my liking (I find it very kitschy) but the gardens are beautiful and it is all very well designed. The restaurant is nice too. The main downside is incredible price. $50 is about 3 times what I paid for the Museum of Modern Art in New York a couple of months ago. I know New Zealand is expensive but, really?

Great place to visit. Restaurant staff are great and menu good. Just to note restaurant not suitable for small children. However the lawn bar and bristo great for families with space for kids to run a bit. Plan to spend half a day if you do the exhibits. Entry is expensive but well worth it. The gardens are amasing and some of the exhibits have fluffly and feathered friends. My little girl loved the magical bunny house. We will save for another visit this summer. Highly recommended.

Amazing art and Gardens which only get better as you go. We were fortunate enough to have Anthony, the founder, provide part of the tour of the art in the gallery. He is wonderful and it was great getting his insights into his collection. We will visit again and recommend it to anyone. It is well worth the time.

What a great way to spend a sunny Autumn day! A little pricey but well worth the cost, we went in with no particular expectation and found it far and away worthwhile. It is mobility friendly and well laid out, each section has a story to tell and features artists and sculptors from all around the world.

It was a very cool place. Amazing sculptures. We didn't mind the expensive entry too much because of the calibre of art and gardens however thought it was absolutely ridiculous that we had to pay $12 per child for our 6 month old and 2 year old. Our baby was in a front pack. I have never been to a place that charges for babies and young toddlers. Would make us think twice because of the cost. ...

Was a really nice day out and great to introduce kids to a range of art. Had both outdoor and indoor spaces, we preferred the outdoor. We did find it quite expensive so won't look at multiple visits but glad we went all the same. Nice little coffee bar onsite as well as the restaurant.

I really enjoyed my visit here. Gardens are well done & pathways lead you through all the beautiful sculptures & themed gardens. Little suprises appear as u wander along the path ways & round bends

Absolutely outstanding day out. Great for families as well. The Sculptureum is clearly a very long term labour of love for the owners and they have done an incredible job sharing their art collection. Well worth the admission and a great day trip from Auckland, only about an hour by car.

Disappointed with dinner as previous lunches were excellent but dinner last night was substandard in all respects. The red wine was served warm/hot. The manager said sorry but we don’t have proper storage. The entrees were tasteless. The waitress spoke far too quickly and twice had to ask to repeat. No gluten free bread option for a restaurant of this quality. Over all a bad experience.

This is a really nice place with some amazing exhibits, including a Picasso and a Monet. Some of the beautiful garden settings are somewhat should by vehicle noise from the road, so some noise screening would be welcome.

Best lamb shank ever! Didn't even taste like lamb. Highly recommend this visit, but you need a rental car to do this. Fabulous collection of artwork n sculptures.

Sculptureum is a perfectly situated spot. The vibrancy of the art is absolutely stunning, the sculptures are wonderful. What sculptureum has done particularly well is allowing each artist’s work to shine. They have provided insightful plaques about the artist and the message they are conveying, the location of the pieces are well landscaped. They have themed sections of the garden in a cohesive and easy to follow manner. All senses were tantalize either by the chirping of parrots, plethora of smells from flowers etc. The most impressive feature to me is the fact that the entire property is wheelchair and pushchair friendly, something Brickbay sorely lacks. 5/5 stars would recommend the gallery and gardens to everyone. Rothko restaurant review: 1/5 stars The location itself is nicely shaded and comfortable. The servers were attentive and one waitress called my son gorgeous which boosted my parental pride no end. The quarrel I have with the restaurant is the food itself. $35 for a main dish, one would expect the duck garnished with gold with a side of tasty. However, what we got was 2 measly ducks breast that were tough, 3 shriveled carrots that even Peter Rabbit would turn down, some grey looking cherries and a bland purée which was devoid of any flavor. The salty fries matched my personality quite well, they were the tastiest thing there ... and that’s saying a lot. All in all sculptureum surpasses brickbay in art, direction, meaning and landscaping but for delicious food brickbay takes the cake.. literally, their raw cheesecake is amazing.

Service, food and wine were outstanding. A taste delight for all 5 of us. We loved the Sculpture Galleries. We will be back for next Birthday. Great Matakana Asset.

Absolutely wonderful day out. Spent the day here for Mothers Day with my 3 kids - 2 x teenagers and 30 year old - we had such a great time and everyone enjoyed themselves. Surprisingly oasis - awesome!

I've never had more fun in a sculpture garden. No, make that 3 sculpture gardens, each with a different theme, and...several indoor galleries too, that are filled with colorful and fun pieces! This is a world class art collection, like none other, a bit more than an hour North of Auckland. The restaurant, Rothko, is also amazing!

We went here with low expectations, but were completely BLOWN AWAY by how awesome this place was. The landscaping was amazing, and the artwork fantastic! There's a great restaurant attached and our little kids loved it!

Fantastic garden, excellent food and service. Would only ask for some better coverage and more shade while dining outdoors. The sun was intense and lack of shaded areas made the enjoyment factor less than desirable.

A bit on the expensive side, but good value for people who like sculptures or art in general. Well curated and maintained. Grounds are large enough to accommodate lots of people but not feel crowded, plan to spend 3-4 hours to see everything without rushing.

Beautiful place. Really amazing. One large garden comprising of many different gardens you can walk through and reflect. On the otherside of the restaurant is the art gallery comprising of different art styles and at the end is the sculpture garden.

Had an evening meal at the Rothko restaurant. The food was excellent, fresh, tasty and well presented. The cost was towards the top end, but it was value for money. The wait staff were attentive, however they forgot part of our order. To the waitresses credit she told us it was her fault.

Had a beautiful sunny day, which made everything look even better. It's a fantastic collection, different styles and materials all shown off in well thought out garden rooms. Look for discounted tickets online and go!

We had lunch at Rothko. Rothko has friendly staffs with good, true and honest food. Spices and seasoning aren't so overpowering so you can taste each different ingredient and the harmony when together in your mouth. Food has much better quality than normal cafe, but probably not to the restaurant level - probably why some felt pricy when paid their bill. We had the privilege to have owner to show us around. Sculpturem has a lot to offer. From a ranges of sculptures, galleries of art work from different part of the world (like a mini Auckland Art Gallery!), beautiful landscape to a good restaurant - Rothko. Overall, it's a beautiful place to visit and relax with all age groups. With more developments planned on site, we will definitely return again. For customer inquiry, recommend to call in rather than email as my email never got responded..which has been rather disappointing.

Awesome afternoon out..Will definitely do the other part next time in Omaha. Was brilliant. Would have loved to have gone to the cafe but they thought we were too scruffy and there were no bookings available for us!

A fantastic place to visit - brilliant sculptures/art in the garden

Fine mixture of good but way over priced food, really well laid out and interesting sculpture /stone /palm park and eclectic /whacky /ultimate bad taste kitsch alternative section. Fun it is. Culture it is probably not. But in indulging himself Mr Grant does a half decent job of indulging others.

Excellent! I advise getting there for about 10am. Have a walk through, then have some delicious lunch in the excellent restaurant (make sure you book a table!) and then have a good look around in the afternoon too. Lots to see, and SO well done.

First time visit. Restaurant had small plates and a few mains. Not suitable for children. On the expensive side. Ambience was great. Fire going. Next time we return will come for several hours and walk around the sculptures, taking in lunch half way round.

What an interesting and wonderful place to visit! Fascinating and thought provoking. We also ate at Rothko for lunch and dinner - delicious food and truly exceptional customer service guys!

Amazing garden, sculpture art experience in beautiful part of East coast North island enroute from Matakana to Omaha beach. Have travelled around the world and have never quite come across anything quite like this. Absolutely awesome and very relaxing, surrounded by friendly staff, fantastic scenery and fabulous restaurant, bar. The seperate garden cafe offers fabulous coffee and tasty fresh bakery. It's a must do on your bucket list!

Sculptureum was amazing, the staff were very knowledgeable, and you must have lunch there and sample the wines. Brilliant day.

Awesome place to visit and great atmosphere. I got to prize winner of the best picture and offered me dinner voucher. What more can I say total customer intuitive place and service.
