I had been going to do this trip for ages and was so glad to have the opportunity to do so recently. The scenery is amazing, as are the gannets and their antics. Our guide Richard was very knowledgeable and obviously never tires of his subject matter. Very entertaining. Great to be guided by someone with a passion for the history of Hawkes Bay.

Fantastic tour with Tony our guide. He was so full of knowledge and historical information about the area, the farm, the birds etc. Very welcoming and easy going. Beautiful views.
Highly recommend.

We have been meaning to visit the gannets for many years. The trip was amazing taking you over farmland that is not publicly accessible with amazing views from above the cliffs back to Napier. Richard our guide/driver was very friendly and knowledgeable on the area’s history and the gannets. The icing on the cake was the last step ascent up to the colony in the 4WD mini bus and suddenly being right next to the gannets. The gannets were not phased by our presence. We will definitely do this trip again.

It was wonderful being a tourist in my own backyard. Cape Kidnappers has been on my list of "must-dos" for some time. It was fascinating seeing the expanse if farmland from Te Awanga out to the cape, and uplifting to know much of it is now protected from predators. The gannets were wonderful - I could have watched their antics for hours. My only complaint was the non-stop chatter of the guide for 3 hours. At times all you want and need is silence.

A great tour. I was dragged along with my wife and children and didn't have high hopes, but the tour was amazing. David, our tour guide, was very insightful and had so many interesting facts about the wildlife and the places we were passing. I admitted to my wife that despite all the facts about the birds and the landscape, the most interesting information was about Julian Robertson, the philanthropist, and his lodge and the paving of the forest road ... oh, and the birds were great to see too :) I would definitely bring overseas relatives on the tour when the borders open.

Great experience. A very unique adventure tour which took us to a restricted area public can not access.
The view of cliff & pacific is so beautiful when weather is good. You can also experience wildlife there.
Recommend to try during a good season / Dec to Feb

An excellent tour that gets you right up close to the gannets, and provides spectacular views of Cape Kidnappers. Our driver David was both entertaining and informative with his commentary throughout. Thoroughly recommended!
It was roughly an hour to get out to the colony, an hour to have a look around and take photos, and a bit less than an hour to get back to base.

Spectacular views of cape kidnappers. The guide was very knowledgeable and we had many stops for good sights and pictures. Commentary was just awesome. The guide made the trip even better. However at $88 per person i think it was a bit too pricey. Sunscreen, water bottle and a cap should be taken with you for the 3 hour drive. Afternoon / morning tea provided is coffee and biscuits.

The Gannet colony was fascinating with the adults flying back in after feeding far out to sea. Many of the males returning with weed to repair nests.
And must compliment Tony our guide. He,with the birds was a highlight. A wealth of information with not a note in sight. Six stars 🌟
