Reviews of Centre of New Zealand Monument
V.
Beautiful views of Nelson and harbor. Would recommend not doing it in the middle of the day as it is very hot. Nice Bush walk on way up and on the Kauai track on the way back. A few steep parts but doable for most fitness levels.

Nice walk(s) great park to spend a few hours. Clean, well maintained paths and plenty of parking even on busy days. The hill is easy to walk, but bring a bottle with you on hot days. It's more the just a 10 minute hill.... The monument has a great view of the bay, town and surrounds. The reason (centre of NZ) of the monument is up for debate... And not a supper must to visit, but if you want 30 minutes of Nelson on a few days South island trip, it is worth getting to see the town quick... Also great information on the natural sea wall. During our walk a big group of students just did the walk, but fairly quiet on the track. Also saw plants of dogs!.

Fantastic walk but not for people who struggle to walk up hill, unless happy to stop for breath. Worth pushing yourself if you don’t usually climb hills, the view is brilliant and worth the effort.
R.
Fifteen minutes easy walk to the top. Beautiful view of Nelson, the coastline and ranges. Totally worth a visit when you're here.
A.
Take your time. Some parts of the track are reasonably steep. But the view from the top is quite unique. Would be even more spectacular on a clear day. About a 45 minute round trip including a few moments at the top.
D.
Steeper climb than I was expecting, but fantastic view.
T.
Was an awesome fitness walk up the centre of nz walk. The view at the top is so worth the steep climb😉👌
P.
Was an easy hike up, nice view of the city. And some pretty quintessential NZ views.

A very special location, and dominating high feature overlooking the Nelson area. This landmark boasts a 360 degree panoramic view that can be appreciated from either angle. The walk, if timed well meets the recommended 20 mins, with the ascent being challenging. Be prepared to take some water and a camera to capture some unique moments.
Entry and exit to the location is conveniently placed at the foothill of the reserve.

If you visit the northernmost and southernmost points of New Zealand, then you must visit the center, too!
It was a short walk up to this monument where we enjoyed the amazing panoramic views! There are benches and other places to sit around the monument and it’s a great place to watch the sunset.
Very much worth your time to visit when you are in the area!
