Some years ago, I got to veiw the Venus transit across the Sun, in my backyard.. This beauty was purchased for the purpose of the Venus Sun transit some 100 plus years ago..they didn't get a sky for it tht night...this place is well worth the visit.

New Plymouth observatory is a hidden gem of New Plymouth, that I discovered after 5 years. In the city. The Observatory is run by volunteer and is open for public one day /week. It has two decent telescopes, which are decent enough to show that Venus is not a full circle and the colour bands and moons of Jupiter. Me and my kids enjoyed the visit and will not wait another 5 years to go again 😁
