Reviews of New Zealand Police Museum
N.
What an amazing experience! Really loved our visit at the NZ Police Museum. Lots of interactive activities and a variety of displays on the different things our police do. After our visit, we were filled with appreciation and gratitude for all our police does to keep NZ safe. Thank you.
N.
Absolutely loved this place kids had a blast trying on old police uniform and doing there finger prints and taking photos and seeing the car that had been in an accident, they also have a little gift shop there is no fee to enter but they love a good donation
D.
Friendly staff, not a big museum but very interesting. Some interactive resources. Also a small souvenir shop.
O.
Amazing place! A lot of activities for kids and adults. Wonderfully written history of nz police development. Extremely helpful and friendly museum worker (sorry, we forgot to ask your name 😳). Highly recommended to visit!
A.
It was really interesting with lots of interesting things to look at and read. I loved reading about the history of the New Zealand Police and seeing how things have changed. It's free to get into which is nice and wasn't busy when we went.
N.
Well worth a visit if you want to learn more about our fine police officers and the work they have done over the many years of service
P.
A great little museum with some interesting insights of police work and some of the more high profile crimes over the years. Kids certainly loved the dress up area and riding on a real Police motorbike. Older kids and adults can try and solve mysteries with clues hidden in the exhibits. Entry is free with $5 for a guided tour.
D.
Some interesting stuff there. Well presented and free entry is awesome.
I.
Fascinating insite into NZ history, great place to visit
M.
Well maintained museum. Friendly staff. Good information for everyone. Kids really enjoyed . Highly recommended
n.
Not somewhere I had heard of before, just happened to be in the neighborhood, well worth a look good display of NZ police history and criminal history.
D.
Five stars. Make a booking with Nick BSc as your tour guide. $5.00 community members and $3.00 seniors. Go community groups. Honours women's contribution to modern policing. Extraordinary testament to the shifting sands of New Zealand social values and criminology. Parental Guidance Advised.

I've been here twice, once last August and once this past week. So impressed with the magnitude of information provided within, very interesting and exciting to look at. Everything is kept very clean and exhibits are well preserved. The gift shop was lovely, only critique is that it would be nice if adult-sized clothing garments were available. The volunteer staff are very friendly and up for a chat. Such a positive experience both times :)
J.
Interesting displays and information on historic New Zealand crime and police operations and even a uniform try on for those photos with the kids.
T.
Had such an awesome time, would recommend to young an old as you get to dress up an take photos
K.
Enjoyable museum with some really interesting exhibits. Website seemed to say it costs to enter but it was just donations when we went.
C.
Brilliant museum. Took 2 little people , the interactive part , being able to wear jackets and headwear was extensively used , judging by the children around us. Great feature
j.
Excellent museum. Lot of our history. Then taken over to lunch. Surrounded by dozens of police men & women. Felt very safe 😄
L.
Amazing place! Fantastic staff who really went above and beyond to accommodate our group. Great interactive and informative activities and displays. Worth more than one visit!
K.
Our grandchildren had a great time here. It is a small exhibition but because it was school holidays there was a list of a number of items for the children to look for and mark off. This always makes a museum more interesting when kids have a task to complete - and they found everything.
草.
Spent long time not realizing!! Although the building is not huge, pretty many valuable data and exhibitions to learn. Must be good to take friends or family as well. They have some parking space in front of museum for visitors.
J.
Great museum. Historical, informative, current and interesting. I particularly enjoyed the Erebus exhibition. There was plenty to keep the kids occupied.
V.
Really interesting, well worth the visit. Free entry but I am sure they appreciate a donation in the box on the way out. Koha! Kids can do a junior detective game with clues throughout the museum. Guy at front desk was very friendly and helpful, excellent knowledge of exhibits. If you read everything and partook of all interactive displays you would need at least a couple of hours
R.
Had a great time with the kids. Really good information, displayed and shared in a caring, sympathetic & sensitive manner. Definitely going again - also buggy friendly & the bonus of a change table in the toilet & a small selection of kids toys & books in an accessible area. Must-do: photos on the motorbike!
P.
Great experience. Well layed out, very informative and engaging staff. Educator was great, soft spoken, patient and friendly. Good level of detail and kept kids engaged for 1st half of day. Unfortunate that police officer didn't show in 2nd half but needs must. Well worth a look.👍🙂
A.
Glad I visited. You get the usual history and narrative of some high profile incidents in police history.
There is a section where you can dress up in police gear and take pictures which makes for some nice memories.
There is also a minor treasure hunt for children who can own a junior detective badge on completion of the hunt. This has great potential and could be polished further to get children and even parents more involved and makes the experience more memorable.
L.
Nice compact museum documenting some very interesting police history. Real pieces of evidence and aftermath are on display.
H.
If you have the time there is a lot of information to absorb. It's very interesting.
T.
Great little place to bring the children and suitable for adults as well. Check out events tho as in school holidays they sometimes have special events on. Free entry. Some times the events will have a small charge
A.
Looking for somewhere to go that is "free" to enter. Fill of interesting information and great if you are at loose end with the children each term they have different clues for them to find and become a Junior Detective and if you want to take up the challenge yourself you can also become a Senior Detective. Worth a visit.
A.
Fantastic, educational museum for all ages
L.
The museum runs really good activity days in school holidays and does excellent tours for school groups. There is exhibits there of interest to both adults and children.
R.
Just paid a visit with 2 grandkids
Excellent and very informative place that kept the grandkids (& grandfather) interested
The visit was made even better from the friendly and informative lady at the reception
S.
This is worth a visit. I have always wanted to go through but never had time. You can just go and look for your self or a guide to talk you through. Will go again. 😊
J.

C.

f.
Amazing. So much history both good and bad. Very well worth a visit.
D.
I loved going to this place pretty much right next to the police college. Heaps of info of where our police force has come from. And a few historical cases that most of us will remember. Lots of items to see and thing to do for young and old. Well worth going to in my opinion.
C.
Learned so much more than I expected about the New Zealand Police. Everything is presented in a factual tone--the good and the bad. Very enjoyable visit, and the gift shop has some unique gifts.
Sadly, Aramoana is no longer the deadliest mass murder in recent New Zealand history, so that display will need to be updated. Here's hope that it's the last time that display needs to be updated.
My only suggestion would be to include more information from recently or currently active officers. It would be good to showcase some of the good work currently going on.
C.
Very interesting and we learned a lot about the history of policing in NZ and some of the exhibits are daunting...
