Pataka has some really interesting exhibitions and is a must-visit when visiting Wellington if visual arts are your thing. Good cafe and restful places to sit along with very tempting shopping. Very welcoming staff

An absolute gem 💎. A must visit for family and friends, spend time in the gallery, learning some history, artists and hear their stories then take a break and have a cuppa with a lovely treat from Kaizen café. I just love how the building houses some of our favourite places - an art museum, library and cafe 🥰

Beautiful gallery and shop but the cafe leaves a lot to be desired. I had the mexican soup of the day, it was bland and practically inedible 😞 tasted like it was out of a can.

There are always really engaging and interesting exhibitions here and the curatorial team do a great job of making it relevant. The space is light and easy to move through even if you have mobility issues. This is a gave weekend spot

I had a great time! Amazing place for art lovers. The pottery section took me by surprise, I was amazed at the fact that how all of that could be made out of clay.

A good rainy day activity in Porirua. It's not big but it has style, space and coffee. We come in here with our toddler. There is a kids room with a variety of activities that he enjoys. There are always a couple of interesting exhibitions to look at. And then you can get good coffee and cake in the cafe. The library is attached so when you run out of stuff to do you can head in there and keep the party going.

This place is always busy and buzzing. Such a cool hive of activity happening. Kaizen Cafe can be quite pricey but food is good. The library is there as well as Art Gallery and Museum so lot's to do. There's a kids area to play and hang in where it's hands on. Parking on both sides of the building but these get taken very quickly. Child friendly and wheel chair accessible.

Was busy and usually is on a weekend but the Cafe came through quickly with our coffee and luncheon the art all around us was such a lovely backdrop to a vibe of peoples coming and going. Loved it and will be sure to call in again.

Fabulous art museum and shop in Porirua I want to visit everyday if I can. Jewelry and glass arts sold here as well. * Entrance has temporarily changed, not from the sliding door but temporary wooden porch from the Arena Parking space. 2021 June. Are galleries and shop still open while some construction works under going.

Pataka is a special place, expect the unexpected in art exhibitions! there is also an excellent art shop, library, and cafe, that looks out onto a tranquil Japanese garden, Pataka strength perhaps is in its strong sense of community, school children being introduced to art and culture of Aotearoa for their first time. Go check it out!

A cool little local museum, that also displays local artists works. Also incorporates a nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. And for those wanting a bit of reading pleasure, there is the library offering a good selection of books and magazines.

A great little museum and art gallery. The art is well chosen and presented, with room to breathe, and the museum shows important New Zealand history, without romanticising or sensationalising. The place is also attached to a library and cafe, you could spend the whole day in there. It's free to enter, and there is a small shop to pick up something to remember the place by.

A very busy coffee bar spacious. Good range of food for sale and service fine. A few too many windows for my liking as I am alergic to the sun. Can be a bit noisy but overall I rate it well.

Ace place to see some great contemporary art, big Maori focus. There's a weaving class you can go into and chat to folk when it's open - really interesting. Definitely worth a visit. Has a great cafe, engaging kids area. Plenty of parking

Pataka Gallery is my top favourite gallery in all of Wellington and I visit them all. The stunningly diverse displays and mediums continually reflect and celebrate the breadth n depth of the uniqueness of New Zealands creative communities and as importantly the atmosphere created by the diverse people who live and work in Porirua. Visited Pataka Art + Museum to watch our grandson accept an Achievement Award from the Mayor of Porirua. It was well presented and I always enjoy visiting Pataka. It is well worth seeing the pottery and other handcraft items on display.

Poignant, evocative and immersive. Good for all ages. Head to Porirua and take in Titahi Bay and Whitirea Park, do Onepoto loop and ready yourself for a swim, any time of year. Come back for Pauatahanui for watching wetland birds, great cafes, maybe a movie. Another day, maybe Adrenalin Forest and a scramble up Colonial Knob, maybe then you have scratched the surface...
