Reviews of Little Waipa Reserve
B.
It was a huge bonus as the river had been clean up. Sad why it had been done losing a young life. If your going charge for camping ensure supplied toilet paper is there. A few extra recycled rubbish areas wouldn't go amiss either. Overall campers were awesome facilities average river top notch.
C.
Amazing location to spend the weekend, had long drop toilets and nice warm showers. They also have 2 electric bbqs for everyone to use as well as plenty of rubbish and recycling bins that were cleared regularly. Council worker super friendly. Cell service isn't great
Dogs are allowed as long as on the lead. Tenting allowed as well. Would recommend
J.
Loved it, there's a hot shower and toilets beside the Lake but the water quality of the lake not as good as it used to be years ago. There are beautiful oak trees that give really nice shade on the hot days.
j.
We really loved this camping domain because it was beautiful, on the banks of the mighty Waikato River with huge trees, boat ramp, clean toilet & shower block, plus bike trails in both directions. An informal camp site with a friendly atmosphere. We will certainly return and stay longer next time.
H.
Lovely spot to park up for a few days... apply for a free permit and u can stay up to for weeks by the river... toilets and showers👍well done South Waikato Council
K.
An idyllic spot along the Waikato river with picturesque views.
You can camp here - there is a toilet and categorised bins on site. The river runs quietly and you are surrounded by greenery - trees, grass, bushes with water and blue sky. There are signs of tourism info for visitors which I found is really useful and informative. It's a perfect resting spot if you are one the river cycling route. You can easily spot some curious cattle and black swans cruising in the river.
d.
Great freedom camping spot, a few people camping in tents. 2 drop toilets and a shower. Dogs allowed on leash. Has a gravel boat ramp.
W.
A nice place to spend a few nights, lots of cycling, a little swimming in the river close to shore, hot shower available, 2 long drop toilets, the people who came into clean daily did a very good job, unfortunately some of the campers aren't respectful of keeping the place clean, plus some dogs leave their poo behind and their humans also leave it behind.
O.
Nice spot but be warned limited spark cell phone coverage and no drinking water. Can't complain though.
D.
Great place to park up, take a stroll or cycle and even relax. We saw a bbq and toilet facilities also. The pathway-cycleway toward Arapuni village meanders alongside the mighty Waikato with a short boardwalk through a wetlands where you will see a few different wetland birds. There is also a small cascading waterfalls further along. You will also happen upon huge boulders with (i think) Manuka protruding out of them. Those with a penchant for geological aspects to their explores will love seeing the pebbles poking out of the path cutting along the way. Some are smooth and some have interesting coloured layers. There are many opportunities to sit and take in the beautiful vistas and to also take some wonderful pics. We got about three quarters the way and turned around. We can't wait to do the other bit, from the Arapuni end next time. Just be aware that the path is shared, with traffic going both ways. It is well worth a look-see! 😉😁👌💯
H.
Lovely walk, we chose to park at little Waipa reserve and walk to the Arapuni dam and back. The dear wee Rhubarb cafe sells delightful coffee to refuel before the return walk for those that enjoy a halfway stop. All up this was just over 10k return trip.
M.

G.
Free little gem by the river (which you can swim in) and it's a gorgeous place with a few picnic tables and a bbq. Clean compost toilets. Maximum stay two nights.
L.
Outstanding. Weather was the biggest issue.

My favourite camping spot. So peaceful with trails on your doorstep
J.
Ok but a lot of tents with families don't know how the facilities hold up.And 1 guy behind us in a tent by himself.no car just living there. Played music all night and laughed to himself most of the time.may have an illness of some sort I think. We obviously didn't get much sleep.I think he has been there for a while.Other wise a nice place to stay in a moterhome.
