Doesn’t look like much this museum but is super good. The guy that runs it is brilliant. Passionate and very bright. He’s a star (is his name Cory)?) The difference between this museum and others is it’s about people and he’s the link. Great stories and a history of resilience, physical toughness and fortitude. Give that guy that runs it a raise imo.

Lovely little museum, packed full of local history. The curator there is a wealth oh knowledge and can answer any questions you have and loves sharing the history. There is a working model of the mine stamper which is neat to see if you have been exploring the local mine sites. $5 per adult

Excellent Museum, tiny but packed to the seams with distant and recent history. Young curator was very informative, willing to answer all questions. Five minutes drive out of Reefton, I'd recommend the visit to learn about the local area.

Amazing place. Collection of old relics and history is unbelievable.
Interested to see several Pitcairn Island carvings same as I have at home. Well done Cory, keep up the good work.

A lot of my family history in here. Great museum jammed packed with all kinds of yesteryear goods and family memorabilia
R.
Lots of cool stuff in the shop there
K.
chock full of the past and yes the guide is very helpful and knowable. Shame there are insufficient resources for a larger building to house the collection. Once this stuff is gone, we have lost a lot. Blacks Point is an interesting place to visit.

Bestest little museum in NZ.
Very knowledgeable young man. He knows all the exhibits and the stories behind them
C.
Best Museum ever in New Zealand. Reason for only 4 stars and not 5 stars was that attitude of the now Curator over last 3 visits. Past curator was outstanding.

Wonderful museum we discovered in Reefton. The guide that walked us around explaining what different items did etc certainly brought the past to life. Well worth the visit.
S.
definitely worth calling by, host was very knowledgeable and took the time to show us some mining equipment outside of the museum,

One of those spots you drive by. Stupid. Stop and have a look. Great historical treasures. Today had my own private tour guide. Bought the treasures alive. The settlement is great to walk around. Loved it. See how time has changed. Now we have memories on show.

I love the Black's Point Museum as it has an amazing collection of fascinating stories from years gone by.
Alot of artifacts from my own family, my Grandmother Doreen Cohen was a volunteer there.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's well worth a stop if you're in Reefton. The curator is a wealth of knowledge for all the items - as well as about the area in general - and does a great job communicating the anthropological importance of the collection.
