This headland is on a cycling / walking track that circles between the lovely garden / playground at the top Fenton St and the old (restored) Polynesian Bath House building. It's a lovely walk, partly shaded and with lovely outlooks over the lake.

A great spot to get a view over the lake while inhaling the true Rotovegas sulphur aroma.

A peaceful and calm place, bring some camping chair, sit on side of lake and enjoy reading a nice book.

An absolute must when visiting Rotorua, I've always loved this area, it's so serene and peaceful, you can walk from the government gardens or just drive here. Lot of wildlife here (lots of geese!) And very scenic around twilight hours

Beautiful place to just look out at the lake, take pictures or take a moment in town away from the hustle and bustle. There is a walk way through to the main lake front and public toilets as well.

The view is nice. Just the odours gets overwhelming at times

Quiet place with great view of the lake and plenty of wildlife. The Lakeland Queen paddle boat is currently stored here out of the water.

This is where I took one of the best, if not the best, photo of my solo backpacking trip to New Zealand. The sunset here is something definitely worth the wait! Absolute place of beauty! Not to be missed if you have a free evening!

Got dumped here by the security guard for campervan parking and very glad we did! The views from this place are exceptional, the lake and bird sanctuary are easy to see from here. In the morning the flies/mozzies are certainly in abundance and there is a slight smell of sulphur but you'd expect that in the volcanic regions! Not a place I would have gone but would recommend visiting for sunset! Very scenic.

Great place to see all the birds and the full lake in Rotorua. We just came for the sunrise and surprised how beautiful the views are! Highly recommend for people looking for nice and quiet views!

Although the lake was not open for swimming, the view was good. RV parking spaces are also available. The small jetty looking out to the lake was a very scenic Viewpoint.

Awesome hidden spot! Grab your car and head out there past the government garden. You could make it here on foot as well. I'd recommend sunset.

A great place in Rotorua to park ones car and enjoy the scenery of Lake Rotorua. The multitude of bird life both native and imported adds to the wonderment of this special place.

Nice free parking for non certified SC. Toilets were very clean. There is a lot of flies but like everywhere in NZ. Perfecr views. Kids with loud music indeed but they leave when it gets late.

Nice view, tons of birds all around, but the bugs were swarming us when we got out of the car. I guess that's why most people were enjoying the view while still in their cars LOL

It's gorgeous. The car park can have a lot of caravans and car campers. There air is strong with sulfur.

Beautiful veiws of the lake. Volcanically active area. Loads of geese, ducks, Canadian geese n swan family's. GOOD well built walks through lakefront area n govt gardens... Lots to do.

Can link walk in with sulpher point and the government gardens. Public Toilets yay!

Beautiful walkway and sulphur reserve near it

Local hot spot for the locals. Great place to view the lake front and the sunsets as well as the sunrises. Lots of birdlife. Golf course nearby. Also walking tracks leading to the redwoods and to the lake front. Good views over the lake to the other side on a good day. From here you can watch the lake land queen do her routine. Watch the float planes and helicopters take off. Or just stop and have a picnic on the table provided.. this is also one of the locations the big yellow duck launches from.and does a small loop to came back in. And off course access is 24hrs.

A place beside lake Rotorua where you can park, relax, even camp over night if you have a motor home. You can enjoy the activity on the lake, boats, planes or just have a nap. Bird life also abundant

Great view and excellent spot for a picnic

It was a light rain and windy day when we arrived there. We had our lunch inside our motorhome, and went out to the lake side to take photos after our lunch. There are lots of Seagulls flying around, and finding food/left over from the grass. It's a nice place to spend for a lunch break.

Love this secluded spot in Rotorua, visit here for a walk along the lakefront every time we come. Also a great place to bird watch. Pied shags, little shags, little black shags, nz scaups, dabchicks, black swans, geese, Tui, silvereyes, pukeko, red billed and black billed gull, black backed gull to name but a few of the native species you can see here.

Must visit location for all visitors be it for lunch, dinner or a bit of romance while taking in the lights and stars. Midgets (the insects) can turn this location into a bit of a disappointment, so you need to pick your day. Lately quite popular with overnighting freedom campers which probably needs a bit of nudging along by the council but they have been either exceptionally clean and well behaved or the council is tidying up. Helps to have toilets there so no surprises behind the nearest bushes. Great spot to launch a boat, spot birds (native and rare included) with black swans, geese and whio regular visitors.

A great place to park up have a nice picnic or even just fish and chip lots of birds to see and the sound of the lake is soothing. Lots of walking around as well on the trials. Plenty of great little spots I use for photography as well.

Not a bad park to drive out too. A bit dirty with trash. Birds everywhere, especially when people feed them. Then there is poop everywhere. Good pictures to take here.

Must park for a picnic in this little bay. It's pretty and relaxing. Little walks around make it a perfect stop. Lots of birds you can feed.

Lovely quiet walk minutes from Rotarua centre.

At 9.30pm the car park was starting too fill up with camper vans, mobile hòmes, otherwise the scenic view @ night was pretty, with Rotorua street lights, especially where the gondola ride is, its pretty 😉

Scenic 'Sulphur Point' on walking trail along lake, accessible by car also. Convenient location for public toilet. Short walk from Government Gardens and city center.

Nice views on Rotorua lake and nice walkways along the shores. Come by foot, and you can also visit sulphure point. Here you can also see the sunset.
