Great place for a picnic. Our first time there. So close to nature. I love photography and was able to get some great shots.

Absolutely fantastic. Never been to a public park that had free natural hot water springs to soak your feet in. The flower gardens were awesome and very beautiful.

For a free walk and in close proximity to where we were staying is very cool. Both for the kids with the park and lots of different mud/hot pools.

Great place to experience Rotorua's thermal activity for free. We walked around bubbling mud pools, dipped our feet in the mineral pools pavillion. There are bbqs, picnic tables and lots of trees for shade.

Great free park to wander around and see the natural geothermal activity up close! Lots of boiling mud, lakes and steaming rocks! Fantastic experience and even better that it is free to just wander around. Pet friendly but make sure they are in a leash as this place has plenty of natural (very hot) hazards.

See geothermal activity in the wild! All the active hot spots are fenced, but you still need to keep an eye on the kids. No dogs are allowed, so keep them at home. Nice gravel trails with lots of grassy spaces. Check out the foot tub!

Free is a word that sticks out... great foot spa area with BBQ (not sure if those were free) and the park for the littlies. Swimming bars not far either. Great Park

Nice place to visit with a family. Plenty of carparks. Short level stroll observing mud pools with a nice free foot hot pool. And then a great playground for the kids with good shade, great free BBQs. But toilets ... not that great.

We went their to check it out at night. Had a look around. Only had a lake,playground for children. Then when we came back in the morning to ask about the foot soaking in a pool; we were told it's empty because the person who maintained before, can't afford to anymore - so it was empty. Disappointment. You'd have to go elsewhere for a foot soak.

Lovely park with easy access to view the bubbling mud pools. Some of the areas it was a little hard to view much activity. Might have to explore around a bit more next time.

Public access to mineral, steam and mud pools. A larger, steaming hot pool is at the north end. You cannot safely swim in these pools, but there is a freshly renovated foot soaking pool. Carparks, toilets and a playground. Worth a visit.

Stopped here afew times but this is the first time I've stopped and really looked around, and what an amazing place. The foot spa pools are a treat, and highly recommend.

Lovely relaxing place to unwind or have a picnic. Footbaths have recently been refurbished and are a great spot to soak tired feet. Kids playground has lots of activity areas, suitable for all ages.

Great place for the family to explore together. Playground is fun for kids & adults. Plenty of picnic tables and a Bbq. Ideal location close to CBD.

It's free, and an awesome experience

Great free family time. This park provided some great discussion about the unique land Rotorua is built on. We cycled around it and then walked around. Great playground as well for kids.

Lovely public park to introduce visitors to Rotorua's unique geothermal environment. Big fenced off thermal pool at one end of the park was spectacular, landscaped grounds with toilet block, sturdy picnic tables, and free push button operated hot plate/BBQ to cook food, at the other end where there were sports fields also. We had a nice quiet picnic lunch there. There are bins for your rubbish, and a lot of car parking space. 👍🏼👍🏼

Great free attraction. Quite a large area to walk in. It will take about 30 minutes to walk it alone. An hour with the little ones.

Tranquility at its finest, this beautiful park is so unique with its bubbling mud pools, steaming hot thermal waters, beautiful trees, flowers, ponds, playground & intertwined pathways with seats spread around to sit & be with nature. The newly furnished hot thermal foot pools are a must & must visit for all tourists & locals. Truly is a magical place where if you love to take photos even the Pukekos stop for you to capture them on film. All my pics are raw, no editing or filters just pure beauty.

Gorgeous and massive park right in the middle of town. Not crowded and a must visit if you're trying to see some sulfur pools for free. The park also has a playground, flower gardens, plenty of parking space, and even has a mini foot spa.

Amazing tourist attraction. The thermal pools were very lovely and hot you can see the steam wafting off the pools as you walked around. The walk around the lake took about half an hour with lots of places take pictures and create new memories. At the mud pools they have this place at the start of the walk we can dip your feet and and feel the temperature of the thermal pools but has not recommended that you walk into the thermal pools themselves as it was very boiling and hot. This is a place where I take my daughter again when she's a little older and can walk herself. I think she would have enjoyed this very much if she was on asleep the whole time. And it was a great place to get some new memories with her grandad and Nana.

The quieter part of Kuirau park. There are two lakes here, a playground, an enclosed geothermal area and various green spaces and picnic benches. I believe this is also where the Toot n Whistle miniature railway used to be. The geothermal area is much more muted and less impressive compared to the stuff to be seen further up the park so I wouldn't bother with it. The playground is very well equipped with facilities for kids of all ages. The usual water fountain and public toilets nearby.

Lovely place Enjoyed with family…

Public park with thermal sulphur pools-distinctive 'rotten egg' smell (fond memory of science classes) clean & cute Park ! Some lovely colourful plants in a center piece too. The toilets though - no hand soap (someone had been smoking in the bathroom :( clean otherwise)

It is very clean and free of cost to see all the mud pools and boiling water. Very nice environment and parking access also footpath made to guide the way.

Kuirau Park is a beautiful park, with natural mud pools, and somewhere to dip your toes in warm pool with seats. You can walk around for hours admiring the wild life and the colours of the water.

Unbelievable spot, a place like no other despite the strong smell in the air, it is a very nice experience

The park is great also the mud pools and it’s free, no need to pay high entrance fees like the other places. There’re is also a food bath.

A start to see the mud-pools It rained the night before when we arrived in Rotorua. We started by visiting the info centre and 3 min trip to the Kuirau Park. Unfortunately the main mud pool is filled with water and couldn't see it in action - other than steam and sulfur smell. It is well maintain and the walk around the park was pleasent.

Great spot for a coffee and walk around. Very tidy and well maintained.

What a beautiful Inner City geothermal Park absolutely pristine and breathtaking

We went here as a family. Parking was pretty easy. The walks around the steaming ponds are incredible - and FREE! A must see for visitors :)

Nice place to visit with kids

Good free geothermal features in a park by a great playground, with a couple of thermal foot baths, also free. Keeps the kids entertained for a bit.

Another mother nature's wonder. Free attendance and free car parking. Large park area to explore with hot mud pods and hot springs. Properly marked walk areas plus fenced thermal areas. Hot spring pools to deep your feet or the body at no cost. Bring towel and change clothes. Did not find any change rooms or showers - as I did not look for them.

Always love going there, FREE activity for the kids to enjoy the amazing natural thermal park.

Was a really fun family day they had music in the park was a real great fun day out with the fams.

It was fun walking around and looking to the natural mud pools but some of it are already dried out but still I am fascinated about it. #nature

This is one of those unique places u need to visit at least once in life... it shows how much diversity u can find in nature... well preserved and open to the public... NZ never stops to amaze me... love it.

Great natural geothermal park. Main carpark has playground, toilets and pretty surrounding. The best geothermal sight was the large steaming pool at opposite end to main carpark.

An amazing place to visit in Rotorua. Public park, bubbling springs, natural hot pools, lakes and a creek, Foot spa to sit and ponder life. The family loved this park. Big ups to the Rotorua District Council and the people of Rotorua for this beautiful park.

Wow! Not seen anything like it before. 24 hours in Rotorua so we wanted to see these pools, free to walk round free parking and a play area for the kids and acres of field space. Don't be put off by the smell, and keep an eye for the popping mud!

We went during February and the water in the small foot bath pool was cold. The only Geothermal hot pools are closed to public access. There is a playground for kids to enjoy themselves. Not a big attraction so only come if you have time to pass.

Beautiful and organized park geothermal with some points boiling around. You can find a thermal pool to have fun with children's or just to put your feets to relax.

Public park with walks that looks into geothermal pools. Spend the time staring into the pools a d observing the bubbling, steamy water, while appreciating God's creativity. To have a public park for all to enjoy is just amazing! Ok of those small reasons that endear New Zealand to you.

Free entrance, rare in Rotorua. Nice , you don't have to walk to far from your car.😉

Very neat geological feature in the middle of town. You can touch the water at one part of the boardwalk and see how hot it is!

Well set out and affordable for families

It is great experience as so rare to see a geothermal activities,though ("humans") are spoiling the impressions with litter in the pools.Council trying there best to keep it up.Well done.

A fascinating place. If you want to walk through an entire park smelling of farts this is the place! You can even dip your toes in fart-water. What is not to like.

Lovely rambling park to explore with heaps of little pockets of thermal activity, including the big lake at one end. Playground for the kids and the foot bath was fun for a sit down. Don’t miss this. Free well maintained park in Rotorua. We always stop by here when visiting Rotorua. It is a taster of thermal activity, and a stunning park walk. I note this time there is a complex that provides free footbaths to soak your feet in. The park provides - pathways, bubbling mud pools, thermal activity, playground barbecue, lots of seating, stunning gardens.

Lovely little park where you can see nature's hot springs for free, muddy and steamy with a small maze of ponds to view. Quick hour stroll to get around the top spots here.

Plenty of pathways, dog-friendly, some lovely trees and shrubs, interesting artworks, fascinating bubbles.

It's interesting to see how boiling water is oozing from the ground...... The steam has a different smell which you get as soon as we enter the city.....

More geothermal activity everytime I visit.love it. free! Best free walk in a hundred miles. Take the family make some memories, start a family tradition, my dad always bought us here and I bring my kids. Quiet safe .

Unique park i've ever been to!

A good place to visit as it is free to enter. There is an area where you can put your feet into a couple of hot pools which my family enjoyed. After walking around looking at the mud we then walked over to the playground for the kids to have a play. A fairly enjoyable family time. Spent probably just over an hour at this place

What an awesome place to visit. So much goethermal activity, lots of parking, facilities etc. Enjoy and peruse at your leisure. I would definitely recommend a visit here!

The city of Rotorua should be applauded for this park. Considering the number of paid tours and locations in town, it's surprising how great this free geothermal park is. Unconditionally recommended.

Very interesting and its FREE. Heaps of different pools to look at. There are bbqs's where you can cook and a playground for kids.

Great place to have something to eat on a Saturday. Food market was great. The foot pools are good to soak your feet and the mud and steam was good for the kids to see first time.

well kept, fun playground for children. foot spas were kept clean as the maintenance man was working in the early hours. It does seem to be a hotspot for rough sleepers though as it is warm

Lovely space to walk and check out the thermal activity however would have loved to soak my feet in foot pools but no hand rails to get back up from sitting position, especially if you have a bad knee or some other disability.

Very hot mud pool with quite a scene! Sadly too small. If you just pass there definitely worth a go but no need for a trip just for this hahaha

A very enjoyable walk that we often visit when down from auckland. Great park area for the boy to Play while we rest. However 4 stars as the bathrooms are terrible, kuirau Park area is amazing, the only let down is the toilet facilities.

It's Rotorua!! Of course theres natural geothermal spits in the city. But seriously.. it's pretty unique, a great tourist attraction and with the visit. Amount the mud pools, hot water and other amazing sights.. look out for the wildlife. Again..it's right in the city... Go for a walk in a nice day.. or not so nice day...you love it.

It's a nice little park with some information about the mud pools. It's good to go for a walk. Apart from that and a kids play ground. It's basic. The bathrooms were grotty and I wouldn't recommend using them unless it's urgent.

We were not sure on the rules regarding dog's on the leash , so we left ours in the motorhome

It's good. Close to town if you're staying in one of the hotels, free, you can see the thermal pools bubbling away and there are some safe pools you can dip your feet in. I'm sure it gets busy, but still a very pleasant spot. Note that some of the mud pools produce a strong sulfur smell, it's the nature of the place.

Great place to visit if you are in Rotorua and want some free geothermal action. The park is huge and has a variety of coloured lakes (coloured by minerals) bubbling mud and a huge steaming lake. There is also baths you can soak your feet in for free. Safe for children, highly recommend

Free hot pool experience in Rotorua...is a foot.pool and next to the park so a good place to take the kids if you are out and about in Rotorua

Open to discovery and enjoyed the question with mother nature how these locate just accross the hospital, Right? 😊I guess something special place for family or for new couple. Some questions and some romance scenarios here for you. The best thing is Free entrance. Have a fun time. 😊

Awesome, enjoyed walking around the park

Easy to access, but not particularly impressive geothermal stuff. Hot mineral pools, some plopping mud. It's free, convenient and has reasonable parking, toilets and a playground.

Great attraction and it's free.

All potentially dangerous area fences. Has two small public hot pools, suitable for soaking legs and/or bodies in. Very pleasant with autumn leaves on the trees.

Such a lovely walk through the different thermal pools. Lots of informational panels about the history of the place and the vegetation specific to such thermal areas. The Kuirau pond is really impressive. It feels otherworldly, like something you'd experience on a distant planet.

Excellent place to have lunch and with the 🐦. We'll looked after plenty of space for everyone. Enjoy coming here.

Very well kept park

A cool place to take your whānau thats free. You can appreciate the thermal activity there, there's a couple of splash pools there to chill in. The council and local iwi have also done some awesome BBQ areas and relaxing areas there also.

Good place for walking.

Great little walk and a nice way to see some thermal activity without paying a fortune and wrangling an annoying toddler around paying guests. A she about the bogans doing donuts on the grass areas in the rain though. They've ruined the nice grassy bits and make it unsafe for pedestrians. Maybe some low fencing would help deter them?

A nice easy walk through the park. Some pools are pretty active and some are not. May need to walk around a little to find what you are looking for. On the other hand there is a nice playground for the kids and great spot to dip your feet in the warm water. Bbq areas are very nice too.

Awesome place. We really enjoyed the beautiful nature and thermal pools. There's lots of them around to.

A free volcanic area to walk around just minutes from the centre of town. Some upgraded seating areas which are nice. Can see the scars from the last explosions in the 2000s which sent mud and rocks which hit the buildings across the street. Not a safe place to walk around after dark due to crime on tourists.

What an absolute joy to walk through this beautifully cared for park. Perfect foot baths, wonderful play area for children. Gorgeous trees! Amazing thermal zone.

Awesome fun and free!

Unfortunately this park is a shadow of its former glory with the thermal activity much lower than in previous years. Other than nostalgic loss this park is OK

WOW!!! If you've never been able to experience Geothermal activity then this place is awesome! Even if you have, fantastic little walk to kill an hour or so with that unmistakable smell of Rotorua! Sulphur baby!!!

Lovely park I enjoyed the foot bath but it would be nice to have some steps into it with a hand rail so those with disabilities could enjoyed it as well

Huge improvements all round. Loved the new public warm foot baths, open enough to not feel dingy. In fact the new surroundings are absolutely beautiful. Kids will enjoy the new playground.

Free activity to walk around and be impressed by nature

Great free park to walk around and see the main attraction in Rotorua, geothermal activity: bubbling mud, steaming vents, boiling pools of water and the ever-present scent of sulphur. Kids new to the town invariably screw their faces in horror and block their noses, but within minutes they're excitedly running from pool to pool, dodging the clouds of steam. It's fairly well maintained, signposted, fenced and safe, but the area is constantly changing, so be on the lookout for new vents opening up.

Nice park a short stroll from the city centre. It has a children's playground. There are several boiling mud pools and steam vents. The free hot thermal mineral water foot pools are a blessing for soaking tied feet in after walking around the sights.

Wonderful geothermal ponds and sulfer piles in the middle of Rotorua town. Free and very stinky!

Experience was unexpectedly amazing. We enjoyed the fact that it was free and very Safe, no risks for children. Definitely a recommended site to visit and an almost rite of passage when visiting Rotorua.

Loved this place. Can't miss this wonderful free walk. My daughter enjoyed the bubbling mud pools.

A nice walk around the park and also has a great foot bath to sit around or you can sit in it, just don't put your head under water for health reasons. Also the Saturday markets are right next door, that has some great hot food options and the usual fruit and veg etc.

The whole park is fascinating and beautiful. Look for the free foot pools in the southeast "quadrant". Near the hospital, but there is a big pond between the grounds and the pools. Other features are incredible, but not for swimming. A steamy lake dominates the northwest.

It's free! Can't go wrong. Great place for tourists to see a little bit of the geothermal activity without the price tag. Always nice during summer and markets on Saturday mornings.

Visited Rotorua with family and rented a 2 bedroom home for long weekend on the lake front. Visited some of the free local geothermal sites, good hill cycling tracks above the redwood forest, which was impressive massive trees where you can do a tree top walk.

Every Saturday thz are Kai-market an Stall's...tht everybody goes too.....try it wen you in Rotorua...these something for evryone...an can walk thru Kuirau park....have picnics....a Breath of Scenery...very stunning...

Sometimes you don't want to pay for the entry ticket to places like Wai-O-Tapu or Te Puia but still want to see mud pools. For those times I recommend here, Kuirau Park. This park is great if you're looking for just a nice park, too. Good for picnics and a nice stroll.

This park is definitely worth a visit. It is very family friendly and relaxed. It has interesting thermal features - many of which are explained on placards. It I also just a pretty park. It has some amazing huge and beautiful trees.

Had a really nice afternoon wandering around here looking the the different pools with my family. Check out the foot bath area nearby here main carkaprk across from the hospital.

Beautiful communal foot bath to experience the naturally very hot spring water. Made our feet pink in a short time. Gardens look lovely too and will protect from wind when they have grown.

Being a public park, its a nice place to take the kids for a walk and a play. Unfortunately the walk across the lake was closed, but it was still a fun experience for the kids.

This is one of the beautiful parks in Rotorua. We celebrated our daughter birthday at this park last week. My daughter was very happy celebrating birthday at this place.

A place for a stroll whilst looking around at the various pools. Popular on sunny days, plenty of space for children to play.

Kuirau park is beautiful & well cared for but we miss the children's activities & steam train from my children's childhood. Also the pink elephant the children cld climb on. Toilets differantly need upgrading. They were awful 10 yrs ago.

This area is free and public. Markets are on Saturday mornings and all day. Geothermal area. Has a playground. Extra parking. Highly recommend as a visiting family tour.

This place is amazing and free. Is awesome for young children it is warm, and sheltered by the trees and everyone finds their own little spot and is able to enjoy themselves.... It's probably best to get a spot up river 😂😂😂

Kids really enjoyed the play park, and the free pools for dipping your feet were also nice. But if you are expecting to see exciting geothermal activity here for free instead of paying tourist prices elsewhere in this town, Kuirau can't really compete with those much pricier options.

Great free attraction in Rotorua

My last visit here was about 21 years ago. The place still smells the same, and feels just as touristy. There is a new structure now where you can take off your shoes and dip your feet into the hot water...for many skin related ailments or just to sooth tired legs.

Nice trails for walking, running or checking out the variety of steamy rivers and mud pits. If you enjoyed Yellowstone Park in Wyoming USA, you will live the closeness to these warm, foggy trails. Even ground allows weaker people to enjoy the paths, too.

Free BBQ to use and great park for the kids. Lots of birds, if you feed them, more will come! Lots of nice grass and trees and walkways. Also, good amount of pokemon go pokestops and gyms

Beautiful mud pools, safe wooden fences. Would recommend going on a Saturday morning as a small market is hosted here.

Absolutely loved this place - with its clean little pools of hot spring water and delightful flowers. Best of all, its one attraction that you need not pay top tourist dollar to enjoy. Highly recommended.

Awesome and FREE!! take a stroll ride your mountain bike, just stay on the trails FFS 😂 lots of steam and boiling mud.

Lovely free park to walk around and view thermal activity, lots of information about it too. Free foot pools are very nice as well, some in shade and sun in the sun.

Very spectacular place, there's not many places lime this in the world. Crystal clear water, sulphuric smell and fog in the air. You can also bath your feet in free hot water pool.

This is a great free park. No geysers or big lakes but an awesome playground, and some foot pools. Some reasonable mud pools too.

Was fun to see the sulfuric clouds coming from out the ground as well as the thermal pool we could put our feet into

A fantastic park to go for a wander through with plenty of varied geothermal spots to stop and look at. Made for a great summer evening activity.

This lol park was a mind blower. To see the bubbling mud pits was really something. With just a simple wood barrier between you & scalding hot fart mud you can get an unobstructed view & a snoot full of Mother Earths farts. Here in Canada if we had this it would have a Fort Knox style barrier & an admission fee to see it. Here you can just rock up & take it in. The grounds are well kept by the local council. Good job boys. There are a few different mud pits to see some more active than others. Might not be for everyone but still an interesting stop even to just take a peek. Parking was no problem.

Trying to explain to a 5 yr old about mud pools can be tricky but once I got him to imagine his porridge being made, he then said “all of Rotorua won’t be hungry anymore!.

Amazing place to see the glorious geo thermal activity Rotorua has to offer. Best of all it's free! Absolutely surreal sight!

This is a beautiful location that has been greatly enhanced with planting and plant care carried out by the Rotorua Lakes Council. For the tourist and local there are some truly unique pathways through native manuka scrub past , and even over , theram po ds of u known depth and mystery. The tall stems of trees and stumps of long past trees appear like ghosts through the swirling mists of steam. This is a unique and free introduction to the thermal activity of Rotorua. Best seen early morning , or dusk. A light rain is a plus.

I always take a friend down there and m visitors spring is beautiful with there colourful bright gardens Plenty of room for the children to run and play Then Autumn with the beautiful coloured leaves

Impressive geothermal performance literally in the centre of Rotorua.

I was there again 2 weeks ago; love the improvements, visitor and I had a good laugh at the "no diving" etc sign by the shallow footpool!

nice park and mud pools are pretty amazing. you can pop over to one of the local shops and grab some take over fish and chips to enjoy in the park or dip your feet in the hot pools from the natrual hot springs

We visited one January evening just to look for the pool to dip your feet in. But they were cold. Confused as to why? Is it because its Summer or they get turned off at night?

Always great to go through this park and see the geothermal activity, and also catch the markets.

Lovely to be able to go to an expansive, restful area and see some mud pools and steaming ponds, as well as dip our feet in a footbath spa, all for free.

Was okay, first time I have ever stopped and looked. Could do with a bit of maintance, maybe so paint to freshen it up but not bad.

A pleasant free option however apart from the foot spa the other displays need tidying and maintenance, for more sight appeal .

Very nice place for relax, hot pool for legs and of course bbq. But many people don't clean bbq and another wasn't working.

A free park in the middle of the city. Lots of thermal pools, but the star of the show is the steamy lake at the end of the park at Lake Road.

Great free introduction to Rotorua and it "egg piles" as my 8 year old called them. Make sure you dip your feet in the siting pools!
