I love the connection this town has made to Stratford-on-Avon. On some cast pavement gratings they call the town "Stratford on Patea" Great. The glockenspiel's short "presentation" is a bit brief, but does include some classic Shakespearean quotes from Romeo and Juliet. What a great feature to have in this small town. The glockespiel performs at 10 am, 1 pm, 3 pm and 7 pm every day, with little windows opening to show the Shakespearean characters.

Jan2021: That was fun. Actually stopped here to see C Malone, but an add on bonus was the 5min interlude with Romeo & Juliet. What made it more fun was the locals coming past tooting and yahooing. The traffic is a slight distracted, but it is what it is.

We were too early to hear the chimes which play 4 times a day but I remember that the voices of the Romeo and Juliet scene were updated last year - a friend of a friend's grand-daughter was chosen to read one of the times characters. The public toilets are in the courtyard nearby and it was nice to see shiny clean taps and glossy metal mirror but there was no toilet paper in the cubicle I chose. The doors have been painted to resemble wooden castle doors with iron hinges. It was pleasing to note all cars stopped for pedestrians on the crossing beside the tower - the town is friendly to tourists.

Definitely worth a visit - very unique to see but visit it on the way to somewhere else eg before or after a trip on the forgotten world highway

The only one in all of New Zealand. It's a shame that building work right opposite and traffic right in front of it made it a little difficult to hear. Still nice to have seen it.

This is a fabulous experience, especially for the kids to see. Romeo and Juliet scene plays several times a day

In the heart of Stratford on main road is this Tudor style clock. Originally part of old post office but was demolished however original clockface from 1924 was kept. On time at 10 am 1 pm 3pm and 7pm it performs Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet . With doors opening and providing an open air screenplay. Absolutely delightful.

Such a neat way to teach history. The kids and adults for that matter thoroughly enjoyed the show. Very unique

A great innovation Bit put off by "kiwi" accents

It was moderately interesting, pity is on road where big trucks are passing by which takes away some of the charm. If you are in the area and around there do visit but wouldn't make a detour like we did.

Interesting display and architecture in the centre of Stratford Town, unique design, you just can't miss it. It would be good if there is any indication of which windows the characters are coming out from. The busy traffic of logging trucks kinda very disturbing.

The glockenspiel is a unique structure in Stratford. it is the only glockenspiel in the southern hemisphere. Romeo and Juliet do appear about four times a day. The design is very cool and you can even take a tour to the top. Cool attraction!

Very cool stop. Highly recommended to see the show at 10am, 1pm, 5pm, and 7pm daily. I have been numerous times and always work the stop!

Super unique clock tower. With a Romeo and Juliet display happening intermittently throughout the day. Situated in the centre of Stratford this is one of the largest of it's kind of Glockenspiel in the world!

Contrast of a Clockenspiel and a New Zealand country town named after Shakespeare's home town. The clock does have a Tudor look. People were friendly and said hello in the street. Well worth the stop .

Apparently the only Glockenspiel in NZ and certainly not what I thought I would see in Stratford. Performs 4 times a day although we weren't there long enough yo see if perform.

If it wasn't for the brochure where we overnight, we would've never seen this. So worth the wait till 10 before we continued on our trip.

Interesting. Great idea. The layout is strange. Be nice to have signage indicating best places to sit and some extra speakers across the road where viewing is better.

Taranaki is home to me, lovely area. No traffic jams, much calmer approach to life here.

Look out for Romeo and Juliet. Visit The Landing Gallery above Verdigris. Well worth a visit to both.

Center attraction to Stratford's mainstreet. A must see for out of town people,
