E.Trees for shade (on one side of the campsite) A short walk to the shop to get some ice ect. Close to Whakatane. Flush toilets and a hot shower ($1 for 4min) 1min walk to get to the beach. Cheap.
No real cons for a DOC campsite. Nice a quiet during the night.
There is no ATM in Matata. Bring $1 coins for the shower.

S.A lovely spot right on the beach. Facilities are basic. Water restrictions were in place. A bit more upkeep would be nice as garden boxes looked scruffy and unkempt.
J.Awesome spot with a beautiful beach. Hot shower is $1 for 5 minutes, water is from the town supply so no need to boil, camp staff are lovely and nice. Make sure you book the morning of in summer as they fill up quick!

R.Beautiful quiet spot right on beach with a lagoon rich with bird life. Hot showers and toilets but unfortunately no power for campers. Low cost excellent place to stay.

M.Cool campsite location right on the edge of the beach! Lady who runs it is wonderful. Friendly people, great facilities (including hot showers)!!!! I would strongly recommend camping here
P.Far enough away from the road to be quiet. Yet close enough to allow you to walk into the township. Clean and tidy and cheap rates of $8 a night for adults.
