Reviews of Dolphin Seafaris NZ Ltd
What a great time! They have a lovely crew, with a boat where you can sit out on the bow and enjoy the scenery. We saw sooo many dolphins, they were swimming all around us while we were in the water. Honestly this trip is a bargain, and I can't recommend it enough.
Terrific trip with Dolphin Seafaris. We saw so many dolphins, it was incredible. Crew were super professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Massive day out for the family!
My son and I had the best time! We saw whales, sharks and heaps of dolphins. The crew is knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and it shows. I’d highly recommend this once-in-a-lifetime trip with this company in particular.
Excellent value for money. Great day out. We saw dolphins swimming right next to and under the boat and hammer head sharks and heaps of birds. The crew were so cool. Heaps of fun and really knowledgeable, clearly they are all passionate about wildlife and love their jobs. Our day was exciting but also relaxing, the cruising was amazing too, great views.
No negatives to report here, for a group of two adults and two children.
100 out of 5 stars. We absolutely enjoyed our dolphin watching tour. The crews are so friendly and informative. The dive master lady kept looking for dolphins for 4hours and finally she pointed us a large pod of dolphins so closely. We took lots of videos of lovely dolphins.I reckon the number should be more than fifty. Lots of fun. Highly recommend.
Went out today, a great crew and we saw a pod of around 30 dolphins right up close following the boat for a good hour! Included two very small baby dolphins as well.
Great day
Decided to surprise my wife for her Birthday with the chance to swim with dolphins... The Skipper (Cille) and her team were fantastic! After a dismal start to the day without seeing anything, we were headed back to shore when news came in of a sighting some ways off... Cille turned the boat around and took us back out for one of the most incredible sightings ever! She and her crew definitely went the extra mile and made my wife's Birthday truly unforgettable! Thank you guys so much!
We all had such a fun day out! Highly recommend! The staff were awesome, and it was so amazing seeing the dolphins and hammerhead sharks up close.
Amazing. The staff were super friendly and we saw a whole lot of dolphins. Highly recommended. Thanks to Scylla, Nathan and the crew for a fantastic trip.
Love their boat cruise, they were extremely good at service, n loved the 5 hour ride as we could see dolphins for almost an hour despite the longest ride
Lovely people who run it. They make sure you def. see dolphins and if not, you receive a voucher to come back. There is also conplementary treats, fruits and beverages on board. The only downside is it felt overcrowded on such a small boat - but you gotta make money somehow. Loved the Information they provided about the sealife, birds etc.
A gift for my mothers birthday turn into a gift for the family, with an absolutely magical and amazing adventure! The crew all were very knowledgeable and informative, not only in the marine life but took us on a tour of Tauranga and surrounding islands! The skipper was very humours and entertaining, as well as very skilled making our journey a pleasure. Our spotters both were very knowledgeable & friendly, and had eyes like eagles which ensure we not only saw dolphins but got to see much more! And our hostess was friendly, explained everything we needed to know, and very was incredibly knowledgeable!
If your looking for something to do in our beautiful country I highly recommend Dolphin Seafaris NZ.
Positive and friendly team who want nothing more than to make your experience the best it can be.
We were lucky to only have a few people onboard, but that definitely didn't make them any less inclined to make it an amazing morning in the water.
We were kept entertained with regular facts and information as we made our way out.
It was a beautiful moment when we got word that dolphins were nearby and we got to watch in awe as they headed toward the boat. Before we knew it we were in the water with them!!
They provide wetsuit and snorkel gear so no need to buy any specialty items.
Seriously amazing crew, fantastic experience and even though I'm a bit nervous at sea, I had no doubt that I would be looked after no matter what.
Thanks Dolphin Safaris :)
What an absolutely magical experience, staff were delightful and really knowledge about the wildlife. Winter tour and the water was stunning, dolphins came to play and I had a wonderful morning out, well worth it. Thank you so much for being such a fabulous tour group.
Very friendly crew and excellent communication. We saw hundreds of dolphins today, which is of course not guaranteed every time. There were juveniles around, so the crew weren't able to let us swim with them. That indicates that this is a responsible business with an emphasis on sustainability. This was an experience of a lifetime!
We had an incredible day out on the water with Captain Cam and his crew!! It look us a long longer than is apparently normal to find the dolphins, but Cam did not give up! We stayed out there about half an hour longer than the tour was scheduled to hear back in, but that half hour ended up being the magical moment!! After trying unsuccessfully to find the dolphins for about 5 hours, the ever-persistent crew FINALLY spotted a huge pod and we made our way there. Seeing the dolphins swim around under the bow of our boat, in crystal clear deep blue water, will go down as one of the best memories I've ever made. We did get to jump in to the water and I think about half our party saw dolphins from underwater, but our pod was way more interested in whatever they were feeding on than our swimmers. This was a little bit of a shame, but as the crew explained these are truly wild animals - we don't control them so all we can do is hope they're feeling sociable. I also wanted to call out how wonderful the crew were with a little girl who became unwell. They bent over backwards to help this little girl and her family, only to have it thrown back in their face with a complaint. Be wary of this review if it hits - the mother in particular was being completely unreasonable. THANK YOU Captain Cam and the crew of the Dolphin Safaris for such a wonderful day!!
One of the coolest things to do in Mt. Maunganui/Tauranga!
The crew was great - super knowledgeable, super friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience with the wildlife.
Also, some of the best views could dolphins I've ever had - could not recommend the trip more!
What a great experience! Dolphin Seafaris had the best boat and staff and I was very happy that I chose them over the competitors. Very comfortable viewing from anywhere on the boat. The staff was kind, courteous and professional. The skipper and crew spotted two Brydes whales just outside of the harbor which was so majestic to see them come up and blow. After the whale encounter we moved on to find a huge pod of dolphins! I love to see them swim up close to the boat and really entertain us with their water acrobats. I felt safe swimming in the open waters with the dolphins and with the guidance of the crew. I had an amazing time and I highly recommend Dolphin Seafaris to my family and friends.
We so lucky to view the dolphins thank you cruise so nice beautiful
We very much enjoyed our trip which we did on the Saturday of the Easter break. The trip out was pleasant and relatively calm. We spent a while searching for dolphins - so you need to be prepared for that. The weather was beautiful and the crew was super. I would definitely do this again.
The crew is the best! They really care and find the best spots ever to observe the Dolphines or Orkas... I was out twice with them. Both times outstanding,: first time we were surrounded by 10 (!) Orkas, the second time the boat owner spotted a huge pod of dolphines... 200 or more dolphines travelling left right and center of our boat... Both times the respect for the animals was ranked as No. 1 priority. I can only warmly recommend this boat! Andrea from Switzerland, December 2019
Amazing morning. Took about 1 hour of search but then it happened, pods upon pods of dolphins. And in we jumped. Using the new rope system to pull us along with the boat. The dolphins did not disappoint, they were talking to us as I did as many silly noises of my own to talk back through my snorkel. It seems cow noises worked best for me as they swam beside and beneath me within half a meter away curious of this new creature in their habitat moo-ing at them. Once in a life time bucket list ticked. The crew were amazing, you could see it in all their faces of their love for the animals. Professionally cared for the whole way. Yes this is a hit or miss venture but wow when it hits. Thank you for everything.
Beautiful, beautiful experience. Saw multiple pods of common dolphins and some babies! Wonderful and knowledgeable crew too.. Thank you Cille, lizzie and Nathan
Incredible tour from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and you could tell they had a great passion for all the sea life you might encounter. 10/10
Today we left port 8am, a little overcast, skippy Garry/Gaz/Gazza and three female crew. What a beautiful day, the weather was fabulous, sunny and the sea calm, the crew were extremely professional and made sure everybody's needs were being everybody who wanted to, got in the water to see the dolphins underwater. We saw three pods of dolphins of up to 150-300 who performed admirably, and even took a rest in front of the boat, cameras were very busy. Many thanks for this memorable experience, a great crew. Lynn & Bryan McKenzie, Tauranga.
They did a wonderful job of making sure we saw Dolphins but never had any luck actually swimming with them. Our guide was very knowledgeable.
Make sure you apply sunscreen OFTEN and take motion sickness medicine if you get seasick :)
The most personable and friendly Seafari, it was so beautiful. Cameron has a genuine interest in making your trip a once in a lifetime experience. He and his incredible team of qualified specialists, Lucy and Sam work hard on the boat to make for an amazing time. I can only say amazing things and am so grateful to all of them for the experience. I can't recommend doing this enough!
Thank you again,
Alice
An amazing day with an amazing crew! It's lots of fun very informative and they are all very knowledgeable.
Super friendly and experienced staff. We had an amazing time, saw plenty of dolphins and got to swim right above them for a very good time period.
Fantastic day there were Orcas and a huge pod of dolphins.
Great way to celebrate your birthday Kayla
Was not disappointed. Unfortunately was not able to swim with dolphins because of sea weather. Did however go snorkling in bay with on-ship barbeque. Very well looked after by very knowledgeable staff. Fantastic
Dolphin Seafaris offers the opportunity to swim with dolphins off the coast of the Bay of Plenty. A fun day out for all the family.
Had the most amazing trip with these guys, boat was great, crew were all very helpful and professional, and the dolphins were so beautiful and playful
AMAZING EXPERIENCE, Lovely staff :D recommend it
Amazed that we have this here in NZ, such an incredible experience and highly recommended!
Top crew, good local knowledge. Thanks team
(Translated) Started in the port of Touranga, past the picturesque Maunganui mountain - and we already have a large flock of dolphins right in front of our boat! We have never seen wild dolphins so close - they were close enough to touch, beautiful and friendly creatures! They followed us several kilometers and circled around our boat. We jumped into the water in thick wetsuits and equipped with snorkels, held on to the boat and were slowly pulled through the ocean. Now it was time to look out under the water! Those swimmers were particularly happy when the dolphins came very close and swam a bit!
Treating animals and the environment with respect was the top priority. Dolphins are wild animals and are not meant to be cuddled. We didn't push them with the boat. Dolphins could choose whether to swim with us or not. So they sometimes came very close, sometimes they moved a bit away, so that they could stop by and look curiously at us.
This is not the tour where you touch, kiss or ride dolphins. There are other offers with specially trained animals. But if you want to experience wild dolphins in the wild, you should definitely do so! Wonderful day on the water, lots of exciting information from Captain Cameron about the Bay of Plenty region, its marine life and Maori traditions. And a lot of fun for kids in the captain's room!
