M.Great exhibition, enjoyed a leisurely stroll through & learned more about Te Awamutu history

B.Outstanding for a local Museum, covering regional history. Centre piece is Uenuku, a nationally important Tainui carving that had been lost for generations. Worth a journey.
S.I took my two mokopunas here as they were on holiday from Auckland. What a lovely welcome from staff. One of my mokos (bailee) entered the matariki competition... she was so excited to be there. Anyway...she asked me.."when do I get my prize?" I explained that the winner is drawn an we don't know who will win. She replied "Oh, but nan, I'm gona be the winner". They left for Auckland the next day. Yesterday I received a call from the museum, a lovely lady explained that bailee had won the prize. Straight away I called bailee to let her know the good news...she was so happy. Oh, can I come next holidays nan? Yes, of cause. Please thank the lady at the museum
W.Not very big but it is designed to make the most of it's galleries. Helpful staff. Great learning challenges 4kids. Some very interesting pieces.

L.A brilliant museum that tells local stories well. Waipa district has some history to share of national significance too. Well set up for school groups of all levels and staffed by knowledgeable but open curators. Worth a visit.

C.Small building with tons of mana and history...met an amazing, knowledgeable beautiful woman who had her own area with her personal mahi(work) who had soo much info to share and she did so with love. Learnt so much that day and was very fascinated by the story behind an ancient maori carving there called uenuku. Awesome 😁
H.Maori taonga there are displayed well with relevant information. Plenty of reading about local history of the land wars. My 5year old enjoyed the interactive room.
J.Loved this place. It's a tidy museum that showcases the local history of it's people. The Uenuku taonga is impressive and carries with it the significance of its mauri.
