L.This is a great path to walk or cycle on, with an amazing view of the open pit. There were Anzac "poppies" along the fence lines near the pump house, each one bearing the name of a fallen soldier. It was such a meaningful touch.
C.A great walk on a fine day, (no rain, there is not much shelter) it took us about 2 hours, the signs say 1 hour but there is a bit to look and read the photos attached shows the walk well including the turtle we saw photo included below. There is a panorama photo as well
J.Excellent place, again I would recommend anyone to add this to their itenarary. Waihi has a a lot history based around mining, as I mentioned on my previous review, this would make a brilliant day trip, visit karangahake gorge and then finish up coming here and possibly drive to the beautiful beach only 15mins from the gold mine. There is a great information centre located near the car park. Fairly easy walk around the perimeter, be sure to check out the dozer and the large CAT dump truck.
O.Beautiful place to visit, with amazing view's. The Rim walkways is also amazing. It's about 4km, with very nice tracks. Must see if you are in the area.
L.Definitely worth checking out this mine if you're going through Waihi, great to see the old pump house as well as the dump truck. You can also walk all the way around the mine which will take somewhat longer.
D.A great big hole in the ground but an amazing site.
C.Interesting place to visit while in Waihi. You can see all the way into the quarry. The side is adorned with poppy shaped placards honouring the local WW2 soldiers. Open dawn til dusk.
N.If you're driving down to the coast, its worth stopping in to check out this mine. You can see it for free and check out the huge landslide on the far side of the mine.

A.Plenty of views to see just up the steps on the main road, opposite Waihi Gold Discovery Centre. The Quarry, Martha's Mine & beautiful countryside.

B.Fantastic place to visit, there is a big truck and a digger for the kids to look at and a neat historic pump house. If you are feeling game you can walk around the mine on the loop track which is around 4km

M.(Translated) On our return from Waihi Beach, we spent the night in Waihi and toured a bit of this small city that has a lot of history, if you walk its streets you will notice it in its buildings. The Martha mine is an open pit gold mine that is currently not active due to landslides. But there is a project for the restructuring and operation of it. There are active gold mines underground, and they are largely under the city. Around the mine you have a path to walk.

En nuestro regreso de Waihi Beach, hicimos noche en Waihi y recorrimos un poco de esta pequeña ciudad que tiene mucha historia, si caminas sus calles lo vas a notar en sus construcciones. La mina Martha es una mina de oro a cielo abierto que en la actualidad no está activa por los derrumbes producidos. Pero hay un proyecto para la reestructuracion y funcionamiento de la misma. Hay minas de oro activas subterráneas, y se encuentran en gran parte debajo de la ciudad. Alrededor de la mina tenes un sendero para recorrer.
