Reviews of Waihi Arts Centre & Museum
Small museum. It was a rainy day. Came across this small museum. A good place to hand out on a rainy day. It provided information about Waihi gold mining industry, about the life hood of gold mining and gold mining process. There is a display showing the underground tunnels of the gold mine.
First time visiting Waihi museum. Absolutely loved it. Packed full of information. Very informative and interesting place. Thank you to the Wonderful volunteer staff Roger very helpful and charming. 😊
Very interesting collection. Knowledgeable host (David). Research assistance sought by email. Recommend.
Pleasantly surprised. Small town museums are not always terribly interesting. This one tells the stories well, for a very modest entrance fee, and is well worth a visit for an hour or so.
Really awesome museum with lots of interesting exhibits about the local mining and manufacturing industries. Fascinating gem collection and neat exhibit about moving the Cornish pump house. Icing on the cake was $5 per adult entry, amazing value for money and friendly staff!
Really enjoyed exploring here .Also the painting are wonderful too.Martha's mine is exactly how l feed ducks there in early 1950s
Very interesting with lots of local history
Such wonderful talent. The pottery selection was excellent. And the museum was so interesting, glad I finally checked it out.
We went to the Nambassa exhibition. Stimulated our interest but could have featured so much more. The museum was a separate entrance fee so left it for another time.
A great place to see some really good historic exhibits and understand where and how our early settlers lived during the 1800's.
This Musuem has neat old photos, interesting equipment from the old Karangahake Gorge and Waikino Station times, 3D models of the Waihi Mine tunnels where Gold and Silvers mined & rare metals for our mobile phones. This is well worth looking at. The people that run it are great!
A cool display of local and international rocks and gemstones. Mining history and fine arts.
Friendly staff, good collection. Was a pleasant visit.
