A great place for dad's to take a 60 minute nap to the soothing voice of the host and sounds of the planetarium viewing. The chair is comfy and if you do open your eyes it's dark and starry. Fascinating for the kids. There is a fee.

this place was super interesting and informative. we didnt have time to do other things so i just walked around the museum but it was so cool. they had real meteorites and a real piece of the moon there to touch so that was super interesting to look at and a highlight of the trip. they also had a store which was really interesting because they had things like periodic table cups and more scientific toys which is quite different from the usual souvenir store

Enjoyed the 45min show, and because it was a beautiful clear night, they brought out some telescopes and we could see Jupiter and the Galilean moons, as well as Saturn and its rings. Thanks so much for taking the time to set it up and talk us through it. It was amazing.

I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the show, We Are Astronomers. And the second part of the session about our NZ night sky, and the breadth of scope too was utterly mesmerizing. After the show I got to talk to the presenter, Matt, who told me about show development and animation that he does. It is so wonderful to see young brilliant minds at work!

Superb customer service, really welcoming and friendly staff. The exhibition's are also really great and useful to all ages. Only gripe is the quality of the dome theatre which isn't to the same standard/quality of that which we experienced in Auckland - otherwise a great place to visit.

Great place for the kids as an educational visit. The place is quite small so don't expect to spend too much time here. The planetarium show was good, especially the first one in the morning for the kiddies.

We have visited the Space Place multiple times and there is always the WOW factor associated with the visit.
If you are in Wellington I recommend taking the cable car up, visit the Space Place and then walk back down through the botanical gardens

Space Place was tremendously fun, lots of activities showing you things about The Big Bang, planets, solar systems & galaxies. While exploring the building we found a room presenting a gigantic telescope that was used to see other galaxies. We also got to play a few video games showing us facts about things like gravity, other suns, stars and also telling us about red giants and dwarf stars.
My favourite thing overall was probably the show, teaching us about Dynamic Climate, we were shown the Milky Way constellation. In the show it was presented on a big screen on the roof that (before the show started) was going through colours.
After the show we also got to go onto the Cable Car which was close by and another place close by is the Botanical Gardens. Overall the Space Place was a extremely fun place to go to checking out all the activities and watching the show.

Cool little place, very informative & interactive for all.

Some good activities for kids. Lots of great info and displays but not enough to keep the kids entertained for long. The movies and subsequent exploring of the stars in our sky's above New Zealand is always fab and entertaining.
