Reviews of Claphams National Clock Museum
j.
Excellent display. Lots of information. Loved the huge collection cockoo clocks in particular. Very interesting.
N.
Had some time after visiting the Hundertwasser building , found the Clock Museum. Wasn't too happy about spending $10.00 to see the clocks. I thought a gold card slightly lesser price would have been good. However once in the actual museum part, very glad I did. Apparently there is 1400 clocks there to view, most impressed .
T.
The ladies there were fantastic. One greeted us at reception and the other showed us how some of the clocks worked this make the experience much nicer for myself and my friend.
Please do not change the way the museum runs as it is perfect the way it is.
Loved it.
That extra special touch made all the difference
S.

E.
Thank you for a most enjoyable experience! Staff are kind, helpful and friendly. Those clocks are incredible. It must be a mammoth task keeping them in tick tock order on a daily basis, with expertise that is unique in these modern times!
C.
This museum is fascinating!! There are so many clocks. Apparently Archibald Claphams did have a really good sense of humor, some of clocks made me laugh a but, what a talented artist!!
J.
Amazing, interesting collection. Even if you thought you weren't interested in clocks this is a must-visit. One man's passion has become a quirky fascinating experience for everyone to enjoy.
M.
As someone who isn’t usually a fan of history museums, I really quite enjoyed my time here. We arrived just before close and had the place to ourselves for a private tour. So much history and ingenuity in the designs of each clock. We spent an hour just walking around quietly reading each of the plaques. Highly recommended.
M.
Day spent with some tik tok. Cute place with some pretty good collection but $10 is not justifiable as compared to the place. Host was also nice and i saw a time history video on her recommendation which was actually very informative. Overall experience was good.
S.
The museum was so good and something else for an experience! Joey and Denise are excellent guides to take us through the museum! Great place to visit if you're in Whangarei.
S.
I visited this place during my Northland trip. I never knew much about clocks. Now I know a lot I believe. Anne was very kind to give me an introduction about the clock basics. Based on her suggestions, I also had a look at the video of brief history of clocks. This made it so much easier to understand the clocks displayed at the museum. It’s an amazing collection of clocks and watches! Different types of clocks are on display! The staff is very gentle, helpful and has some great customer service skills. Would highly recommend visiting this place! Cheers
C.
We visited the museum yesterday and it was an eye-opening and educational experience for everyone. A very friendly staff offered to give us guided tour and showed us some really amazing and innovative clocks from their collection, the kids enjoyed the visit a lot which is a pleasant surprise for me. Highly recommended!
B.
This is a cute little museum with a fantastic collection of clocks from all eras. It is surprisingly fun to watch all the clocks and how they operate, especially the cuckoo clocks!
It's a great activity for children, they can find the clocks in a scavenger hunt brochure.
P.
This place is so interesting and good value for money. The staff are well informed and very friendly, they give lots of information which just adds something special to the visit. There is a discount (I think it was 2 for the price of 1) if you have a local cafe receipt. A fascinating variety of clocks and watches and some great stories to go with many of them. Well worth a visit
l.
Cute place my friend said to stop at. Tour available. Gift shop. Nice floral sundial out front. They will let you come in right up until close to closing but will kick you out exactly at 5pm, with no discounted price even.
F.
A strange museum, the idea that you only collected your entire life. Nevertheless, it is a very nice museum because they have so many different clocks from all over the world. Also the older models, it is nice to have such a feeling we had that one in the past too. I'm glad I do not have to wind up all the clocks in the evening :-)
A.
I love time keep machines so this place was like heaven for me.. The staff where ultra helpful and place was stunning. My favourite bit was hearing so many clocks tick at once.. It is definitely and experience I will remember. It will also be a place where I will take friends and visitors to whenever we in Whangarei
M.
A must see for anyone interested in timekeeping. Good exhibition of movements from all ages, lots in working condition. You get an automatic guided tour with lots of explanations and demonstration. Superb. Also of interest to those who like music boxes.
N.
A must-see in Whangarei. The sound of a hundred clocks ticking is truly mesmerising. The history of some of the pieces is fascinating. I could have easily have spent a few hours here. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable and at only $10 it is great value.
I.
Hundreds of clocks of all ages, some with very interesting mechanism design. If you think this could be boring - it's not. The lady was very nice and gave us a quick tour answering all our questions. They are building a rolling ball clock next to the main building, should come soon in 2021. Great location, though you will need to pay for parking nearby.
A.
Cool little museum with a bunch of clocks. Worth visiting at least once if you are passing by the area.
B.
I would definitely recommend it if you have 15 minutes to loose and it's pissing down outside or love clocks. Otherwise I'm not sure it's worth the 10 dollars (1 adult). Maybe good for kids.
A.
Absolutely amazing. The history behind how all the different clocks came about is so interesting. Plus some of them brought back memories of what my grandparents had. There is also a shop to purchase watches as well as clocks.
T.
Don't blame me when you finally learn to tell the time 😋 love everything!!
C.
If you love clocks, or just like clocks, or maybe never gave them a second thought, this place will open your eyes and make you smile. Well worth a visit and the staff were fantastic too.
L.
Surprisingly interesting. Not my normal place to stop but Lana the curator, was really interesting and passionate about what she does and was very engaging with the kids kids
T.
Great display. Informative tour.
J.
We didn't pay to enter the museum as we were short of time; however, the friendly service and conversation with the receptionist (can't remember her name unfortunately) warrants a five-star rating.

(Translated) If you go to Whangarei, remember to visit this 𠆤 National Clock Museum, it is not big, but it is still very rewarding to understand the working principle and evolution history of clocks. Tickets are 10 yuan per person, but you can ask for an explanation. The exhibition hall is not easy, all are private collections dedicated to the country for everyone to visit. Thanks a lot 🙏

(Translated) Recommend this watch museum, the place is not big, there are many exhibits, there are explanations. Although the clocks are small, they can objectively reflect the concepts of Western industrial design and production, and they are worth seeing.
